A couple days ago I had occasion to be in Abilene, TX, not really by choice as I was lost and…read moretrying to get back home to Arizona, but I did hear the wonderful old song "Abilene" by George Hamilton IV (from 1963!) on SiriusXM as I was driving aimlessly about Texas, a rather large state ("It's like a whole other country!"). My cell phone was not working, and I was rather rattled as I was an older woman traveling alone and these days that seems a bit scary, especially when you don't have a way to call 911 from the road. Also no one sells maps anymore. :( This extremely friendly, smiley, helpful young woman working in the Abilene Convention and Visitors Bureau was my angel in disguise. She gave me a Texas map -- for free! (they're ginormous like the state) -- and also an Abilene map and even highlighted it and gave me written directions to their local Verizon store so that I could try to get my phone working again. She even let me call home to tell my hubby that I was all right and where I was at and headed. The breakfast is great, there are cookies in the early evening, many TV channels, clean, and nice staff! Drawbacks: the pool could use a little TLC and the parking lot was not very big, the hallways show a little wear. Overall a great place to stay and would most definitely return. Also great distance from mall, walmart, and many restaurants.

Old enough that the gold door fixtures to the rooms were significantly scratched and tarnished. When you drive up under the carport the dead shrubbery set the tone. Not only that, cigarette butts, and a carport that hadn't be blown off and smelled a bit like an ashtray. The door to the room,115, looked pretty dirty. Lots of smudges and hand prints. Bathroom was pretty dirty in the corners, missing tile in the bathroom, posted pics on the booking.com website where we booked the property for the night. Dead cricket in the corner of entry to the room. Just saying, the owners of the property might want to give the facility some love and spruce it up. Throughout our 18 day trip we end up staying at multiple Holiday Inn Express properties. By far, this one really needs some owner and property management love to come up to the standard of the other Holiday Inn Express properties we stayed at.

This is in our top 5 favorite accommodation of all time. Just love a good atrium hotel! I grew up in the area, so I remember when this was an Embassy Suites back in the day. (been to way too many weddings here in the past) Thankfully, Eleganté has kept the original features that make this hotel so cool. They still have the happy hour and the made to order breakfast, etc... it's nice that they have honored those traditions. We partake of all the amenities and thoroughly enjoy them. I especially love the pool and jacuzzi. We are endlessly amazed at how well maintained this older property is. Almost all the employees here are friendly and helpful - except the front desk ppl. They were my least fave. But everyone else was nice and friendly.

Free hot breakfast in the morning, more than your average waffles at the more modern places. This place is huge! There were families, construction workers, pilots all types staying here. Comfy beds, nice pillows, hot water, fantastic AC and it was way quieter than I expected. I would for sure stay here again. They do have the government rate (although not currently in DTS). It's no super modern Hilton but it's a cool hidden gem.

The limo was a very impressive white superstretch with a personalize sign for the newlyweds. They even rolled out the red carpet for the couple to walk down. Very nice way to send off the bride and groom! Highly recommend!
