I've consistently had a pleasant stay here. The hotel always smells nice and is clean. The front desk staff is always friendly and available, which I really appreciate. They won't promise adjoining rooms but we got them and appreciate the convenience. During this visit, the breakfast clean-up crew felt overly eager. For the price, I do wish nightly room cleanings were included--right now, it's just trash removal and a quick bed turndown. We also had to get new towels from the front desk. The pool was clean, though on the smaller side. Overall, I would stay here again. read more

Pricey as hell for Abilene, nor are they very accommodating. You would think a hotel in the middle of nowhere would try much harder.

Had a great stay here. The staff were friendly checking in and out. The shower water pressure was amazing. We ordered dinner via Uber Eats and watched a movie on Netflix. Their internet for the TV apps was extremely slow and our bedroom door did not close. After a couple of attempts, we gave up and just put our bags behind the door to keep it closed. Other than that, our stay was great. read more

We stayed here 2 nights this past weekend. I was skeptical booking due to the reviews, but our stay wasn't bad at all. I didn't like the fact we couldn't get rooms side by side and our handicap room was on the 2nd floor, my mom has mobility issues. Their toilet had issues flushing. My bathroom door did not shut properly. But other than that, our stay was quiet and relaxing. This hotel is clean and very friendly staff. The elderly lady working the desk is a wonderful employee!! In town for a wedding in Abilene, I opted to book Residence Inn. Having obtained my Platinum status, I was quite excited to be back amongst the higher ranks of Marriott's elite. I booked online, and tried to obtain my company's special rate, but for some reason, this Marriott did not honor it. No big deal, as this sometimes happens. I checked into my room and asked if any upgrades were available, as my wife and kids would be with me, and one room gets small. They informed me they did not, but to check with them when I arrived. While in route, I utilized the app and decided to ask if an upgrade was available. The front desk responded that they were sold out. However, they took the liberty of making it happen by giving me two rooms, for the price of one. Both rooms were connected by a side door. Surely, I thought this was an error and I misunderstood. I informed the front desk I was running late and my check in would be very late. Once we arrived, I approached the front desk and was greeted by a very boisterous lady named Carrie. She verified my identity, swiped my credit card, then handed me two keys. I asked if this upgrade was going to be the cost of two rooms. To which she said no. She said that "Stacy" saw my request, and sprung into action to make it happen. Well done Stacy. Well done. After some small talk as to the purpose of my visit, and general questions about Abilene, I got my keys, unloaded my car and went up to the room. Carrie provided a map and sent me on a journey to find my room. Props to Carrie for being a nice, helpful, and very pleasant lady. She also informed me that my platinum status allotted me bonus points for just checking in, and threw in a couple of free bottled waters. The hotel seemed very nice so far, and one consistent with the Marriott standard. We got on the elevator and I found one item that concerned me. The call button to phone the front desk in emergency was broken off and was not there. I was hoping for no emergencies. Once we got to our rooms, we were happy. The rooms were clean, and the beds comfortable. We unpacked, crashed, and slept very well. The next morning we enjoyed the complementary breakfast, and enjoyed the rest of our stay in Abilene. The last morning I go to check out and review my bill. Stacy hooked us up again. The company rate that I was not allowed initially, she fixed. She overrode the system to allow it, and saved me some money off of my stay. Stacy just reached rockstar status. Rock on, Stacy. My bill was also 100% error free. This visit was nothing short of amazing. A great hotel, and the best service I've ever received at a Marriott. Ever. These folks went above and beyond to accommodate my family and I. Room had horrible odor. Hair on the floor. Shower did not drain. Had to request cleaner at the front desk to mask odor. And even, then hotel would not do anything to accommodate or compensate. Hallways had bad odor as well. Very disappointing. read more

Nice, clean hotel with a very professional and helpful gentleman at the front desk. Rooms were clean and set up with a kitchen. We got a room with a king and a fold out sofa. Nice for us because my husband prefers to go to bed early and I could watch tv on the sofa without disturbing him. The usual breakfast at all these hotels but the coffee was good, plenty of fruit, yogurt. Also it is located within walking distance to various restaurants for dinner. read more

I started off with a very good first impression as I was greeted by Beth in the middle of the night after a 4-hr drive. She was very friendly, welcoming, and informative (: a refreshing check-in compared to what I usually come across with late night check-ins. I'm impressed. This is one of the cleanest hotels I've been in by Marriott; out of Best Western / IHG; on par with majority hotels by Hilton in terms of cleanliness. Statement from a germaphobe who inspects for hair, stains, clogged bathtubs/standing showers, and occasionally hand/finger print oil stains on commonly used furniture/appliances that may need a wipe down before use. They are also pet friendly and yet I haven't noticed any fur, odor, nor strong disinfectant (as I have experienced at Red Roof). The reason for 4 stars is their exercise room. Out of the four cardio equipment they have (2 treadmill, 1 elliptical, 1 recumbent bike), two are out of service--the treadmill and the elliptical. Just my luck because I only prefer the elliptical when it comes to cardio for a full body workout with less stress on the joints. Thumbs down. read more

My brother and I stayed here a couple of weeks ago for an ACU football game. We were greeted by the bubbling Nikki who greets us like royalty with her great West Texas drawl. She is always a ray of sunshine! This hotel is always clean and well serviced. Rooms are spacious. Breakfast is hot and good. No complaints from us at all. read more

This Residence is brand new, located off of I-20 close to Loop 322. It's a bit south of the main part of town, but still has a few restaurants in close proximity. I was really impressed with the staff at this location, they were friendly and helpful but not annoyingly so. The pool is resort style with waterfalls, and the main area has free breakfast and happy hour buffet. The rooms are apartment style, and have full refrigerator, dishwasher and stove. I even found a pasta strainer in the cabinet(!) gasp! The bedroom and living room are separate areas, and each has a flat screen TV. No MTV, Bravo or E!, but HBO and HD channels. Wifi was reliable and fast. I would 100 percent stay here again. read more

Great little place to stay. VERY clean spacious rooms, super friendly staff, trendy updated decor and a decent hot breakfast make for a comfortable stay. The only thing that kept it from being 5 stars is that the bed was way too hard and the Internet tv did not work as advertised (too slow to load the free HBO Go included in my stay.) I had coffee in the lobby over the course of 2 hours and watched the manager very actively involved in taking care of things. All the staff interact with one another positively like it's a happy working environment. This seems like a well run hotel. Kudos! read more

I always enjoy my stays at RI but this staff was the best I've run into. Friendly, efficient and professional. The room was clean and well designed. The bedding was perfect! The breakfast and especially the breakfast staff was a great start to the day! Food was fresh an plentiful. The night bites were perfect. I don't drink but they had wine and I believe beer. Several people were using the work out area also. I got iced in and this was perfect location for it! Just overall great experience. We had a fantastic stay! This was our second trip to this hotel and now I'm sold, whenever in Abilene we are staying here! 1.) Breakfast was more than adequate, with frequently restocked hot items (eggs, potatoes, waffles, sausage, etc) and breads for toasting, pastries, yogurts, oatmeal, cereal, juices, and coffee of course. 2.) Room was very clean 3.) Containers (large!) of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash mounted on the wall of the shower for easy access, not having to unscrew those tiny bottles while wet, and not running out for a family of four! 4.) Quick access to elevator 5.) Very friendly staff. We interacted with several, and all were very pleasant. 6.) Pool is GREAT for young kids. It has a shallow section that is 3 feet deep--you don't think of it in advance, but for kids learning to swim this is fantastic. We took our kids swimming every day 7.) Location is very easy to get to and around restaurants 8.) Very well stocked kitchens in each room, complete with plates, utensils, pots, and other supplies. Having a big freezer with ice maker was great. It was 107 degrees outside, but the AC in the room was fantastic and we always had iced drinks without having to walk down the hall to an ice machine and fill up a little bucket. They still aren't doing daily housekeeping here. That's okay with me, I stayed at a Hilton last week and wasn't used it to anymore, thanks to COVID, and honestly I kind of like the privacy of not having anyone else in my room, ever, during my stay. I don't mind making my own bed. I have nothing bad to say about this hotel. The other guests, well, it's three stars, so you have to make some allowances for the customers that are sometimes attracted to three star hotels. Like the family that pushed their way into breakfast and swarmed the stations without standing in line--and then emptied all the hot food--or the lady chain smoking around the pool over the heads of toddlers, in full view of the no smoking signs. You just gotta live and let live sometimes and recognize that the hotel is great and not at fault. read more

I booked a two night stay for my boss in a king suite at this hotel last week. She left the hotel, traveled back to Austin, and realized that she had brought bed bugs with her. I understand not being able to control these situations, but they should be individually handled when they arise. I have spoken to three different people with the hotel and have been completely blown off. This was a $150 per night hotel room at a reputable hotel chain. We are a small non-profit who splurged on the nicer hotel for a business trip and came home covered in bites and bugs. I am very upset with the management of this particular location as well as the broader Marriott team. Will not be returning and will be asking that our partners do the same. read more

Where do I start? Flew in to town early this morning to meet our son at the nearby surgery center for surgery. Needed a whole list of things starting with early check in, a kitchen, dishes, comfy bed, first floor, no stairs, non smoking... Kid on crutches after knee surgery. As our son was in the recovery room I sent the hubby to get a room with my criteria list. He called and said we were good to go! He did have to go visit a couple first and voted against the others... I actually cheated on Yelp and hopped on over to Trip Advisor to check some reviews since it seems like the Abilene folks use that more than Yelp.. Weirdos! Got to the room, looked very clean and not a smoking smell at all! I'm happy... I did have a couple minor issues and called the front desk with my concerns and immediately Denise and another gentleman were at my door to make things right! Can you say amazing customer service? They went above and be you to make sure we were happy campers and all was swell in our world! We haven't slept for 48 hours and needed to get settled in immediately and get the injured kid in a bed to relax and they have made this Mom's job easier in this madness! We will definitely be staying here on all our visits to ACU to see our boy play football! Thanks to Denise and the lovely housekeeper! This place is disgusting!! We booked two nights and it was a horrible mistake. First when you walk in it smells like wet dog. Next after our first night my daughter woke up with multiple bites all over her body. The next night we found bed bugs!! Disgusting!! Hotel lobby was clean and inviting. Kerri at the front desk was fantastic and very friendly. Perfect spot for her. The room was very clean, warm and comfortable. Bed was a little firm for me but the shower was hot. Breakfast was mediocre but the Andouille sausage was a pleasant surprise. The sweet breakfast lady from Telephone Texas was very nice and kept checking to make sure everything was ok. Bold coffee was weak and flavored creamers would be a nice touch (like other Marriotts). I had a flight diverted, and then canceled, and found myself in Abilene for the night. I stayed at this Residence Inn for the night, and after my stay, I was sad and mad that I couldn't stay longer! The property was close to airport and clean and safe. Jessica checked me in and was very cool, and filled me in on local eateries. The lobby was big and nice with treats of all kinds. I then popped into my room and it rocked! Bigger than regular room with oversized sofa and full kitchen (would be perfect for extended stays, families on budget, etc. All dishes and silverware included. Full coffee setup. TV can connect you to your own streaming services. Sweet gym, outdoor pool, and basketball courts that I love. Nice big bathroom with dispenser soaps etc. I slept great with the AC on 65 and then got up next morning to great breakfast (included free). Eggs bacon sausage all the good stuff. Because my plane messed me up, I had no toothpaste/toothbrush. I asked the front desk and he supplied me with these items!! Nice!! Easy check in/check out. Also there was Hooters almost next door (was only restaurant there in immediate hotel area) and I walked over and had great meal (and btw all you single ladies, that's where you should go to meet guys cause there were tons with very few ladies)! And the town and area looked like a great, chill, easy place to enjoy. Overall I give this a 10 out of 10 and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! read more

Very nice hotel. I personally went to desk to check out and cash a personal check to tip housekeepers. They didn't check me out until a week later. They said they remember me trying to cash a check but not checking out. Manager said there is no "video proof " I checked out, huh? It will all be worked out I'm sure but just remember they will lie to cover things up. Not cool to do to a Titanium elite member. They also questioned why I have a service animal and said she pooped in the room. This is a huge lie and why I'm writing this review. Lie all you want about me but leave my puppy out of it. I've been gone 6 days but offered to pay cleaning fee over phone to show good faith. Manager wouldn't accept it, in a very ugly tone by the way. I do like the hotel. It's just one desk lady and manager you have to look out for. Maintenance guy, other desk and housekeepers are wonderful. read more

I have several issues. However, I will go with the billing. I booked directly with Marriott.com. I receive a bill showing a zero balance. Tina at the hotel said it was a third party billing and that I would have to deal with the third party. I explained that it was marriott.com. She said I prepaid so it was a third party billing. Marriott said the hotel has to correct the problem! Both Marriott and Residence Inn blame each other. Let alone half the points? No I will not stay here again! We stopped twice in Abilene while on a road trip. The second time we stayed here. We checked in late, stopped here just to get a goodnight sleep, but that did not happen. The walls are so thin you can hear everything!! There is also some construction on the back of the lot that did not help. Our room faced the construction. Needless to say the only thing we were looking for did not happen. Also, my husband stopped by their breakfast area and the lady working the area was very rude. He was looking for a plate that he could take to our room and a guest pointed to an area where he reached to. This lady started scolding him like he was a little kid. The only reason we stayed here was because we are SPG gold members. I would not recommend if you are looking for a place to rest. read more

Decent room. Decent breakfast. Terrible service. The woman who checked us in was undertrained. We wished to split our bill between two credit cards and she had no idea how to do so. After waiting while she stabbed at buttons on the computer, I convinced her to call someone for help. The next morning we discovered that while our credit cards HAD both been charged, the entire bill had been recorded in their system on only one card--both cards charged on our end, only one card credited in their system. No problem, I asked the desk clerk (a different person from the night before) to refund the difference to the second card. She couldn't figure out how to. I asked that the manager call us (he still wasn't in at 9:30 AM). He didn't. Accidents happen. We completely understand that. Failing to follow up with us and make it right is not okay however. read more

well, let me just say as a nurse, coming to Abilene was going to be a fresh breath of air after dealing with Covid-19 and big cities in general (New York, New Orleans and Houston) but unfortunately that was not the case at this establishment. After nearly two weeks of a stay I had to head head home for a couple of days and cheerfully asked about late checkout since I am a Marriot member. Well, I called the front desk and spoke with Debbie who promptly told me a hard "NO,that was only reserved for Marriot members" on my request for an extra hour to gather up all of my things after not getting home till nearly 9pm the night before. "OK", I replied and then called Marriot. They told me it was not guaranteed but at the sites discretion. So, I called the front desk back and spoke to Debbie again and asked her if my room was already booked and she told me, "no it wasn't, but late checkout is reserved for members only", for which I replied, "I am a member". Thats when she told me it was a Marriot rule. "No its not", I told her because I just got off phone with Marriot and they said it was at the sites discretion. So she say "Well, then my manager does not want to give you late check out" and refuses to give me a reason. I ask to speak with the manager because if this is true it makes my whole experience plummet from a 5 to a 0, of which she proceeds to whisper to her manager a paraphrase of what I said and then but me on perpetual hold and never calls me back! Am I just sensitive and stressed out or was that quite rude? There were two people who were shining stars during my stay and that was sales manager, Sylvia, who on my final call to the front desk, she apologized, got my late checkout and attempted service recovery, but it was too late for me. Kerri, front desk person, was an absolute peach but unfortunately she was not reflective of all the staff at this hotel. Never did hear from the manager. Its a pity. I don't usually write reviews and as a nurse traveling around this country I have mostly been met with kindness and appreciation and I just expect us all to be kind to each other especially with the world crisis we are having; I suppose I have a Pollyana outlook on life. But I will not be staying at this establishment again. We all should still have pride, respect and appreciation for out essential employees, including persons working in hotels and it should be reciprocal. I would never treat a patient of mine with disrespect. When one drops the ball it makes everyone look bad. read more

Stayed in room 218. Great experience. Clean room, tasty breakfast and hospitable staff. Upon check-in, we were informed that certain professions receive free zoo tickets if they stay at this hotel. Too bad we checked in AFTER we went to the zoo. This hotel had a lot of dogs in and out of the lobby. I saw three in our short time here. We stayed in a king suite and this was a good decision as we were tracking with young children. Everything in our room was in working order (well, except one of the tv remotes but they promptly fixed this for us). I recommend this hotel. read more

Booked a hotel room weeks in advance. Upon arriving we were notified of a water leak and notified that we would receive a downgrade in room status instead of being provided something of equal size. We were also informed that the rooms weren't ready at the time of check-in. We waited a few hours and attempted to check in again. We were informed that they were sold out and no rooms were available. This is the worst example of customer service I have seen from a hotel. We went from a downgrade in room to nowhere to stay. Great hotel, great prices and FANTASTIC staff! Literally from the housekeepers to the front desk.... everyone was BEYOND friendly and went out of their way to get us whatever we needed. The place was clean and well stocked. The only thumbs down was the bed... the sheets and mattress need to be upgraded... especially since this is a Marriott. But even that isn't worth losing a star. Close to everything and breakfast was great. We plan on coming back when we visit our daughter at ACU. read more
