On my second day of training the instructor told me that I wouldn't pass my practical nor written exam. Funny because I've passed my OFA2 three time successfully. This is an instructor issue because there were three other people that I ran into from this particular instructor who did their class & exam through another provider - & - uhhh, passed. Classroom is too crowded to get any questions answered or the help you need. Not sure how this instructor (dark hair & braids) got her instructors certificate! Would never recommend nor attend a TraumaTech class even if it was given for free! read more

I took OFA Level 3 courses at Trauma Tech in the 1980's, 1990's and 2000's, back when Paul owned the company. Recently, I completed a Standard First Aid/CPR/AED course at their Boundary Rd. location. I have taken Occupational First Aid Level II and a work mandated CPR Level "C" course at Trauma Tech. The registration process was seamless with both courses. The classrooms are appropriately sized and equipped. The lounge facilities are comfortable and include complimentary coffee/tea/Cocoa. There is a fridge and microwave oven to use. The instructors are excellent. Clear, thorough and excellent time and classroom management. I would not hesitate to refer others to this school for First Aid instruction. read more

I recently completed my OFA Level 1 with Trauma Tech. I had Bev as an instructor and she was fabulous! While the course was fast paced and some things were pretty detailed, I never felt lost/confused. I never felt silly asking a question either, Bev was extremely knowledgeable, patient and helpful to all the students. I left my 1-day course feeling confident that if there was an emergency in my workplace, I could handle it calmly. My one suggestion would be a slightly longer day (8hrs total maybe?) with a few more quick brain breaks! It was a lot of info to soak up in 7.5hrs! I've recently just re-certified my OFA level 2 ticket through Trauma Tech. The staff here are incredible, always friendly and the instructors are very thorough in the way they teach. If you had any questions, they would always be happy to answer and so patient with the new students who were nervous and not quite grasping the material. To me? that's truly caring about your student's success. I highly recommend to anyone who's certifying for OFA's level 1 through 3 for either their workplace or their personal knowledge. :) read more

Trauma Tech is the best in the business! I finished my First Aid Level 2 a few weeks ago, and have confidently settled into my new role as First Aid Attendant at work. I've even treated a couple people for minor injuries. I had Jane as my instructor for the incredibly challenging week of training. Her immense first aid knowledge was quite apparent by the first coffee break. Her no nonsense teaching style works well for the intense week of drills and practical experience required to save lives in the real world. What caused a few of my classmates to be a little annoyed with her were their constant "What if...?" questions that interrupted the class on many occasions. That was mentioned as a no-no in the first minute of class on the Monday. Keep the stupid what if questions to yourself there isn't enough time to deal with everything. Plain and simple. Having spent so much time with her and having more than 15 years of first aid training with other more well known institutions I feel the need to speak up in her defense from the orange head review listed below. I am glad she was in my face throughout the week. I felt totally uncomfortable at times, I felt like hiding behind my first aid kit other times. I was stressed beyond belief that week. Exhausted, hungry, weary...Why? Because Occupational First Aid Level 2 is no joke. If you can't handle fear and stress and fake blood in the safe confines of a classroom how in the hell are you going to save someones life at your workplace? Had I taken this course one month earlier I would have been the Attendant at work that dealt with a worker who was crushed by a 600kg door. His ribs popped out the sides of his coveralls. People screaming... total chaos! (He did survive just so you know) I am thankful Jane put me through the ringer every day. She questioned everything I did. Kept me on my toes. And I am very glad for that. When it came time for the practical and written exams I could have done them with my eyes closed. Trauma Tech is the best. See for yourself. Oh... and there's tons of free parking two blocks west along the side streets off Lougheed if you don't mind a 5 minute walk to class. read more

I took my Occupational First Aid level 3 with Trauma Tech. My instructor, Dustin, was an absolute professional to work with. He was an excellent teacher, communicator, and had a great sense of humor. I was surprised that it only took me 20 minutes from Downtown to Burnaby on the SkyTrain (Gilmore Station). Definitely one of the better first aid training institutes in the Lower Mainland. read more

My experience at Trauma-tech was traumatic, the head instructor's name was Jane, while she may have been knowledgable, she resented students asking questions, and she had a nasty, sarcastic and condescending side to her, not helpful in a stressful learning environment which of course the OFA level 3 is. I saw her put several students into tears for no good reason. I have had my Level 3 ticket 3 times with different schools each time. Trauma-Tech was by far the worst experience that I have had. If you thrive in learning environment of yelling and intimidation then Trauma-tech is the school for you. I would suggest that before you choose a Occupational First Aid Level 3 training facility that you ask them a few questions such as: What is their passing rate the first time through? How many people do they have in a class? (anything over 12 is too many, you don't get enough practice time) Will the instructor put in extra training hours if required? Ask if you can watch the instructor teach for a while, especially on day 8 or 9. There are really good schools out there, you are spending a lot of money, Try a different school, this one gets a failing grade! read more

There is just way too much information crammed into the 7 hours. The instructor often just read out of the book, and so fast that if it were my first time, I would probably not understand a thing. Overall, good practical exercises, but the theoretical part was hardly useful as I only could understand about 80% of what was being said. read more

I just finished OFA level 2 at Trauma Tech Burnaby. I had Jane as my instructor and found her to be a good instructor for a course like this. She is very intense and can be a little sharp with people, but with all the material you need to know, and only a week to learn, I think it is necessary. She also kept everyone awake and on point for 5 days solid; not an easy feat! If you want this certification to get paid more with minimal effort, go somewhere else. If you want to learn the skills to potentially save a co-worker or family members life, this is a good place to go. It was a really challenging week (it was my first time), 5 days instruction, 2 days studying on weekend then 5 hour exam Monday, but Jane prepared us all well for the exam. She did not harass anyone inappropriately, and nobody cried in our class or anything like that, lol. The main issue with this class was that there were 18 students and one instructor. That is way too many students for such an in-depth course. I think next time I would look for a class of maybe 12 students. That would be more manageable, less boot-campy. Would recommend Trauma Tech, Jane, and the Accent Inn next door as it is about 50 feet away and very good value. read more

I successfully completed the Occupation First Aid Level 1 through Trauma Tech. It was a very fun and educational experience. My instructor was an excellent demonstrator and ensured everyone was understanding the material. The school is in a great location, easy to get to by transit. They use all the new equipment and the carpet is has extra padding. You'll really appreciate it when you're on your crouching over a dummy for several hours. I would recommend this school to anyone looking to upgrade their safety knowledge. read more

I highly recommend Trauma Tech agency for anyone taking WCB BC OFA - Level II. This was the second time I did my recertification from this agency out of my 6 tickets/recertification. It was 6 years ago the last time I was at Trauma Tech and this year. I had nothing to gripe but express my continued pleasant learning experience at Trauma Tech in each occasion. The building in Burnaby maybe old and classrooms slightly smaller than some other First Aid agency I went, yet with the effectiveness of the instructors at Trauma Tech like mine was "Diane" one of the best in this industry comes easy and manageable for her and everyone in class. Its Diane product of hard work and effectiveness in teaching! My biggest concern in my previous recertification was class size that normally goes over 14 students. Not surprisingly, everything could snow ball from there, and in my previous class in other agency our success rate was far too low. A disconcerting reality for other agency to ignore the results of huge disproportion, and who knows for how long it's been going on without corrections. Remember, this is a week course with much preparation before hand, not only labor intensive, this course also requires basic learning skills. Fortunately, Trauma Tech is true to its business principles in filling in numerous subtle gaps to succeed. There, I rather best leave this to you to discover many of its advantages in this industry!
