    Roast Chicken.
    Laurence K.

After looking at the reviews we decided to try this restaurant as we were staying at the nearby Hilton. We arrived at 815 and decided to sit outside as they only had a couple tables inside but they were next to the grill / fireplace that's they use to roast the steaks and chicken dishes, and it was really warm in that room. We were the only table outside. The server came out ,and she was the only one by the way, and gave us menus and took our drink order. I had a Havana Club and Soda and a large Bottle of Sparkling. She said she didn't have Soda water for my drink and I said I would just use the sparkling. When she brought the drinks out, we ordered our food. We ordered Bruschetta and I asked about the steak Florentine price and not speaking Italian I believe she said 60 to 70 Euro. I know I'm on vacation But that seemed a bit high. So I had the Roast chicken and Jim a spicy Pasta dish. As soon as we were finished ordering the remaining 3 outside tables sat. We waited a couple minutes and she brought out the bruschetta. It was 3 pieces of sliced bead the same as we had in our bread basket, one had a little olive oil the next had about 5 very small pieces of tomato and the third had some beans on top. All three were terrible No flavor at all. After that we waited about 30 minutes for our mains. Our server was now running around very busy, We tried to get more drinks but we couldn't catch her eye to come to the table. Meanwhile the three tables that were seated after our arrival, were all served and one had even finished their meal. The couple next to us that had finished their meal, leaned over and said it was the most bland pasta dish they ever ate, "i could have done better at home". That was our first warning sign. Finally my dinner arrived, well my chicken anyways, Jims was nowhere to be seen. After about 5 minutes they brought his pasta dish and I got to order another large water but, Still, this time. She came back with bubbles again, Oh well. My chicken was a really small, probably 8 ounces for the whole roasted bird, It Tasted ok but there wasn't enough. Jims dish was spicy and he really loved his dish. No one ever checked back with us to see how we enjoyed our meals. So were done and were trying to get our check and she is no where to be found. We waited 10 to 15 minutes and I decided to go inside to look for her. I didn't see her anywhere so I went to wash my hands. On the way back I found her and asked for our bill and gave her my credit card. Its now 10:00. All in all it was marginal. We should of went back down into the city for a much better meal

Chocolate and pear cake. The pear is surprisingly great with chocolate. Light and airy.

This is close to the Hilton hotel, about 10 mins walking. A great neighborhood spot that the locals eat at. Very inexpensive and delicious.

Great little local restaurant, family owned, close to the Hilton we were staying. The tagliatelle pasta with wild boar Raghu was amazing!

He was awesome and had us laughing the entire night. We peppered him with a lot of questions about the menu, he answered everything and also accommodated my father-in-law, who is GF. He had his own GF bread basket and was able to order almost anything on the menu. We ordered a nice bottle of Montepulciano red for the table that was $48. Others had the Hugo spritz. For app I had the anchovies with roasted red pepper, sea salt and oil over grilled crostini, very good. I skipped first course and ordered the ribeye steak for my main course. Bone in, medium rare, sprinkled with sea salt and a side of onion marmalade. The steak was very good and had way less fat than I expected. The waiter suggested a huge steak for the table, but I was the only one ordering steak that night. Maybe next time. Others ordered the fillet and it was cooked perfectly, the angels and demons gnocchi, and the veal scallopini. Everybody was pleased Really cool spot with a very good wine selection, drinks, excellent food and a fun atmosphere that you don't find at many places. Nugo was an A+ server.

Waiter was super friendly, taking time to explain their wines in detail and food options. They even have a kids menu with sizeable portions for older kids. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and it was definitely the best wine we had with meals in Florence. Gnocchi and wild boar taglietelle were outstanding. Had we had come earlier in our stay we might have come back again They also do a wine window which I wish I'd known about earlier because the other one we tried for fun was not good

It's close enough to the lively, bustling part of Firenze to feel connected, yet just far enough to escape the city's never-ending wave of tourists. The service was incredible, and the owner (I'm pretty sure it was the owner?) brought so much energy that he single-handedly turned the whole place into an eclectic little spot during the "rush hour" of the evening. The menu was solid, if a bit "generic" at times. While everything we ordered was delicious, nothing at Trattoria Giovanni felt like a dish you couldn't find elsewhere... and honestly, that's perfectly fine! It was traditional, comforting, and exactly what we were craving. The plate of cured meats and cheese was phenomenal, a great start to the meal. The pastas were really good as well, though one of the meat dishes had a slightly off texture, with the chunks of meat a bit overcooked. All in all, we loved our meal and would definitely recommend this spot if you're in Florence.
