Our family did the Toymaker's Revenge room and it was utterly delightful! The puzzles were creative and just the right level of complexity for us. We loved that it was nonlinear and that we could all be working on different puzzles at the same time. I also really appreciated the health safety measures. The guy running the room (what do you call that position... the puzzle master?) noticed that we were wearing masks, and when he had to come into the room for something he wore one without being asked. It was very respectful and thoughtful. As a family that has to be health-cautious, that meant a lot to us. Anyway, everyone in our group had a wonderful time. We talked about it the rest of the evening, and the birthday kid who asked to do it said it was her favorite part of the day. It was a fabulous way to make memories as a family. read more

My friend and I were in town for a girls' weekend and decided last minute to do an escape room. We picked the Mystic Lair from Trapdoor based on reviews and proximity to our hotel. Jamie, the owner, was fantastic and did an awesome job of explaining the rules prior to beginning the escape room. With just the two of us, we didn't quite make the escape, but he was kind enough to let us finish. This was by far the best escape room I'd ever done, and my friend, who has done over 20, said that it was one of her top two favorite and best ones done. We loved it. We had SUCH a great time. Six of us in the Mystic's Lair. Cleaver puzzles, challenging but doable...eventually. We did race the clock but squeaked in with the help of a few hints. We're already planning to tackle the other one on-site. Jamie was a wonderful host for our adventure. read more

The Toymaker's Revenge was quite possibly my favorite escape room I've ever done. The owner's passion for engineering creative puzzles really shines through the entire time. Over a year later I'm coming back to review this place and remembering with my friends how friendly the owner was, how much we laughed with him in the lobby, and that there were even puzzles to be solved in the lobby. If I remember correctly, I think one may have given me candy? Definitely go play here! read more

My 13 yr old daughter and her friend did the Mystic's lair (I believe it's called) and LOVED it. The man who hosted it for them (forget his name) was very welcoming, kind, and asked their experience with escape rooms and if they wanted little guiding hints during or not. The kids were very impressed with the setup and how everything worked. They went on and on all day about how cool it was that he made those things himself. I think they now want to build and own an escape room. Lol. Anyways, highly highly recommend. Cost, experience, and staff all get 5 stars. read more

The Toymaker theme was so unique and fun, and the level of detail in the room was impressive. I don't want to spoil too much, but it was clear that a lot of thought and effort went into creating this experience, and it definitely paid off. Jamie gave us a warm welcome to the space, had a fun backstory for the room, and took time to walk us through the room afterwards to explain a few of the puzzles. This was the 4th escape room I've done and by far the best. The puzzles all felt well designed, fair, creative, and logical. The theme was nice, and the mechanical and electronic implementation of the puzzles was extremely well done. Unlike other escape rooms I've done, there were never moments where it felt like we knew the answer but struggled with how to input it or the mechanism was janky. The host was really cool too. An experience with another escape room made me appreciate this one and realize I should leave a review. I did this escape room with one other person a couple months ago -- it was fantastic. I didn't finish in time, but it didn't even feel like it mattered. The experience was so much fun, and I was constantly making connections and solving a variety of unique puzzles. My only complaint is that there was one puzzle that was a little confusing because it seemed like information was being communicated that wasn't -- but the best part of this was the owner asked about my thoughts on the puzzles and when I brought it up said that he had considered what I was saying before and had thought about possible solutions. It just felt like he was very interested in the puzzles being clean, intuitive puzzles. It is so well designed that you feel like you're always moving toward something. I loved it. read more

By far the BEST escape room I have ever done! Came in today with a group of three, and we were the only ones that had booked the room. We had a fourth that unfortunately couldn't make it. With such a small group, we were worried the puzzles would just be impossible. However, we got really close to solving it within the hour! The hints and clues were perfect. Not too obvious, but not impossible to figure out, either. We just barely didn't finish it, and since we were so close, we were allowed to finish it after the timer just for fun. We learned that everything in the room is hand built. The room had electronic puzzles, turning mechanisms, buttons, and locks. I've been to a few other escape rooms, and they had nothing as impressive as this! The guy that worked there (I forgot his name!) was super friendly and helpful. I cannot wait to try a new escape room from these guys! We will definitely be back (and hopefully with more help)! read more

This was my second escape room thus far and I absolutely loved it! We were supposed to do the Mystics lair room, but last minute we ended up changing it to the Toymakers revenge room, and the owner was so so so understanding and fast. The puzzles and riddles were so precisely thought out and so much fun! Everything was unique and nothing I've seen before, it was obvious that they took their time to plan everything out. We did it with a group of 5 which was perfect for the room. Although we were just minutes away from getting out of the room in time, it was a great experience. Thank you so much! read more

We had a really fun time. Our track team was visiting from New Jersey so we split up into teams and did both of the rooms. We did make it out but three minutes late. The rooms were really well designed with good clues and surprising hints and next moves. The owners and operators were really nice and helped at critical points. Team Chicken shirt had a good time. My friends and I (a group of 8) went to Trap Door tonight for a fun group activity. None of us had ever been to an escape room before so we didn't know what to expect. It turned out to be awesome! The puzzles were the perfect balance of hard and achievable, especially with a large group like ours. We really loved the theme too. It's clear that a lot of care and attention has been put into every aspect of the experience at Trap Door. We particularly liked that we had the opportunity to see how all the puzzles worked after we got out. I really recommend the experience, and look forward to their future creations! read more

I went to your establishment today and the doors were locked. My friend and I were trying to do a last minute escape toom. I didn't see it advertised on your website that booking a reservation online was mandatory. We called several times before we arrived and while we were there trying to figure out why no one was responding outside the establishment. Even if you were not available for a slot today, if we called you during the hours posted then we shoulf have spoken to someone. We saw you had an opening for a room at 5pm so we were there at about 420. I don't get out at all since nothing in Eugene really interest me, so it's quite unfortunate that one of the only times I do find myself out, the establishment isn't even taking phone calls when we were clearly calling well within posted operating hours according to the website and google. Such a disappointment. Fortunately, Mental Mansion was able to accommodate us even with short notice, but you cost yourself business with your lack of thoroughness and communication altogether. I was really looking forward to the high tech experience of this escape room but I can't find myself finding more time to spend at your establishment or giving you my hard earned money after today. I don't really care what I'm missing out on. read more
