We provided the party room (the common room in an apartment complex) and they brought the puzzles, the props, the ambiance, and great show-runners. They totally transformed the common room into a magician's lair, with a nice story and a fun setup. The goal of the setup was to unlock six or so locks, which would allow the magician to escape the box of death. In order to unlock the six locks, we had to unravel about 20 puzzles, which I won't describe here because I don't want to spoil them. I appreciated, though, that the puzzles were all different kinds of puzzles, so everyone could find something they could contribute. The magician themed room was medium-hard. I am told they have some rooms that are easier and some rooms that are harder. We are looking forward to doing their more challenging room at some point in the future. I also appreciated that the people working the event stayed in character and provided a lot of good energy. We had about 20 people at the party, so they had to run the escape room two times. It took about 15 minutes between runs to reset the room. They packed up in half an hour and left the room in great shape. We couldn't be happier with this booking, and I am already fantasizing about booking them again for another room.

There's not a lot to do that isn't a bar in... Western Oregon honestly, and Conundrum House is solving it. For insanely reasonable prices (that lower even further with membership) you can rent table space for RPGs, gaming time on video games, attend costume events, themed tea parties (with incredible gnosh), enjoy interactive murder mysteries and far more than I'm going to take time to list here. All in a beautiful building full of art and whimsy run by incredible, enthusiastic people. They support local artists, writers, game creators and creatives of all sorts in a way you don't often see in this area. So comfortable it's a bit like going home, and every inch of it was made with the intent to build fun artistic and creative community upward. The owners are amiable, chatty, and proud of what they've accomplished, and they should be. Need something to do outside of the same old drudgery? Get here! Check it out, inquire within, look them up, they deserve the community's support. They opened six months before Covid and managed to survive it, if that doesn't scream worthy business, I don't know what does. It's nested on the second floor so pay attention to the sandwich board on the sidewalk, it's totally worth a short trip up the stairs. I recommend checking this out heavily. Perhaps the most check-outtable place I've ever reviewed. We will definitely return.

Some of the puzzles just weren't very good/clear and each on had to be pretty much done in order, so unlike some other rooms I've been in, you couldn't have part of your group working on different things to solve too much at the same time and come together to put it all in play. The room is list for up to 10 and we had 9, so only three or four people could really be engaged in a puzzle all at one time-- I'd probably list it for 5 or 6 people since there aren't simultaneous things that can be worked on. There were problems with lighting not being well thought out that was needed to solve major things. My puzzle loving son agrees that the puzzles just weren't as engaging or clear. Some lettering was older or worn off on the mirror/book and not as clear. There were other major things, like the staff hadn't reset the room when they brought us in and didn't notice until we asked, and then they cleared us out to fix it. That was a bit of a let down from the beginning, to see some of the solved puzzles sitting there . We got there early/on time and they started us very late. Email questions prior to the appointment were not directly answered after two or three back and forths. It was just kind of less than the other escape rooms we've been to. I also paid for 10 people and 1 person was sick-- I didn't except to get refunded for that person as per their website rules, but it would have been a nice thing to make up for some of the more disappointing aspects.

I haven't visited the distillery/retail space, so can't speak to its interior or characteristics,…read morehowever I happened upon their booth at the Portland King Farmer's Market, and what a surprising gem I discovered! Visiting from Utah (we have kooky liquor laws here), it was a complete novelty to find someone selling alcohol at a farmer's market. We did the thing where we were standing some distance away, discussing if we should check it out, maybe it would be better to hit it as we left...and the gentleman manning the booth motioned us over, saying he had a hot toddy for us to taste. He was so charmingly friendly, we could hardly refuse, and I'm always open to trying a bit of anything. Friends, that hot toddy was perfection. I don't really drink, but I could totally imagine myself reclining by a fire, sipping a bit on an autumn or winter's night. My husband, who decidedly IS a drinker, loved it as well. Perfectly flavored, it tasted strongly of real apples, with a light sweetness that (dangerously?) hid the alcohol. It included both their apple brandy and apple liquor, and you can pick up a recipe at the booth (or just take a picture as I did, and have included below). I also tried a nip of the strawberry rhubarb apertif, which was very sweet (though not too much!), and brought to mind a superior version of port. I was into it. They also sell peppermint, ginger, and pomegranate liquors, along with a ryegrass whiskey. I believe all were available in either 375 or 750ml bottles, for around $20 and $30, respectively. The packaging is beautiful and high quality, and you can purchase their products at a few brick and mortar retailers, as well as online at liquorama.net, however you'd be doing yourself a disservice by not experiencing the hospitality of the company directly, either by visiting the farmers market, or even better (I imagine), their tasting room. Not wishing to be burdened by heavy bottles of liquor for our trip, I limited us to just one, and we opted for the apple brandy. I can't wait to use it for baking, and I know we'll be serving lucky guests hot toddies as the weather cools.

We loved that it was nonlinear and that we could all be working on different puzzles at the same time. I also really appreciated the health safety measures. The guy running the room (what do you call that position... the puzzle master?) noticed that we were wearing masks, and when he had to come into the room for something he wore one without being asked. It was very respectful and thoughtful. As a family that has to be health-cautious, that meant a lot to us. Anyway, everyone in our group had a wonderful time. We talked about it the rest of the evening, and the birthday kid who asked to do it said it was her favorite part of the day. It was a fabulous way to make memories as a family.

Jamie, the owner, was fantastic and did an awesome job of explaining the rules prior to beginning the escape room. This was by far the best escape room I'd ever done, and my friend, who has done over 20, said that it was one of her top two favorite and best ones done. We loved it. Thank you so much for such a fun experience!
