We did The Quest. First time at escape the room Oregon, but we've done 5 or 6 escape rooms in the past. This was one of our least favorite experiences of escape rooms. Some of the puzzles just weren't very good/clear and each on had to be pretty much done in order, so unlike some other rooms I've been in, you couldn't have part of your group working on different things to solve too much at the same time and come together to put it all in play. The room is list for up to 10 and we had 9, so only three or four people could really be engaged in a puzzle all at one time-- I'd probably list it for 5 or 6 people since there aren't simultaneous things that can be worked on. There were problems with lighting not being well thought out that was needed to solve major things. My puzzle loving son agrees that the puzzles just weren't as engaging or clear. Some lettering was older or worn off on the mirror/book and not as clear. There were other major things, like the staff hadn't reset the room when they brought us in and didn't notice until we asked, and then they cleared us out to fix it. That was a bit of a let down from the beginning, to see some of the solved puzzles sitting there . We got there early/on time and they started us very late. Email questions prior to the appointment were not directly answered after two or three back and forths. It was just kind of less than the other escape rooms we've been to. I also paid for 10 people and 1 person was sick-- I didn't except to get refunded for that person as per their website rules, but it would have been a nice thing to make up for some of the more disappointing aspects. read more

It was fun, but I will say the clues are very complicated and don't make sense. But as a group of 5 we had fun .. it was just a bit frustrating for some of us... overall I would recommend it.. but bring a friend that really thinks "outa-the-box".. no conventional common sense works. read more

Came here on Black Friday and was able to make a same day reservation for the Study. Our team of 3 were able to get out with just under 1 minute to spare! This is a great one for all experience levels but definitely try to go with a larger group than just 3 people if you can. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I also like that they have an area in the waiting area to practice how to use the type of locks you might encounter -- because who even uses a lock these days?? Looking forward to trying out some of the other rooms next time I'm in town :) read more

Had an amazing time in this escape room on a Friday afternoon! The location was definitely unique, but it really sets the mysterious mood for us as we were walking in. Coming in at night will definitely be fun. My boyfriend and I chose a medium level room - The Study, for just the two of us. We were greeted by some friendly staff who made us feel very welcomed. We are no strangers to escape room, but this room was quite a challenge to us. I will try to explain without giving too much away... Things are locked away and hidden in ways we haven't encountered in other escape rooms before. I guess you can say we were too confident and thought to ourselves "nah this wouldn't do anything" many times throughout the game, but we were surprised again and again. Clever and logical set up, I like the way the staff members walked us through the clues after we had failed to escape. Many escape rooms I have been to are creepy and had fear factors, but this one is very family friendly. I look forward to returning and challenge other rooms they offer! read more

Went with two 6th graders and our guide was the best! He helped us, encouraged us, and inched us along to success. Even though we went over a bit on time we still "escaped" so I appreciated that he gave us a few minutes of leeway. This experience was refreshing: both diversely challenging and a fun context in which to observe, better understand, how we work in teams. I also got a kick out of trying to figure out how the machinery behind some of the locking mechanisms worked! Everyone in the room, most of whom I didn't know ahead of time, seemed to really get into a groove with each other at the last moments and we managed to Escape. UPDATE: I left my initial review 10 months ago and gave this place five stars. My first two rooms there were great. We recently spent $150 (which was a discount) for the Bio Lab experience. We chose cooperative instead of head-to-head, but it really wasn't collaborative. Our group was separated, which we hadn't expected and definitely wasn't part of our evening out plan. Each group worked on different tasks. I can't say more without giving some elements away, but it just wasn't fun. I found the experience to be relatively sterile, boring and way less engaging than prior experiences. There were also some glitches and how it was set up. We were able to find clues for a different challenge. That added a layer of frustration and confusion the detracted from the overall experience. Of my group of six, only one enjoyed the experience very much. I'll be hesitant to try their next room. The first two were really good, but the price is too high for me to feel comfortable gambling. Fantastic experience! I've done two rooms here and loved it. Clean, plenty of parking, friendly staff. The rooms are complex but definitely possible. I enjoyed The Study more than Spy vs. Spy, just because it had more variety. We booked the whole room for our group, 8 and 9 people each. It was wonderfully fun chaos. It's not cheap, but it's better priced than other local options. Also, bonus, none of the creepiness of a "zombie" staff member hanging out in the room. And the after photos are pretty funny. read more

Even though my group sadly failed to escape the room, we had a great time doing it! Really easy to call and set up the reservation, and we got a great military discount! Super friendly staff and fun rooms- they add new rooms every so often so that you always have something new to try. We didn't know until we got there that our room was ideally made for 8-10 people versus the 4 that we had. They will add people unless you pay/have enough for the whole room, but it was just our group in that night. We did the Russian Spy themed room- lots of challenging, mind bending fun! First escape room I've lost, but still fun and they showed us the answers afterwards! read more

As an avid puzzler and puzzle designer, I wholeheartedly recommend Escape the Room Oregon. I took my brother and his kids (ages 9 & 13), all relative novices with varying levels of engagement (younger kid gung ho, older kid interested but tunneled into small tasks, brother could care less) to the Study, their easiest room. Not a recipe for success: it could have been boring for me, painful for my brother, and frustrating for the kids. Not so. It was well designed for kids to seek out all the puzzle pieces, me to assemble, solve and troubleshoot, and brother to be a helping hand, just as the knowledgeable staff said it would be. The puzzles were all interesting, none of them straight out of the box and while many (like locks) were standards if the genre, it never felt like we were just plodding from one puzzle to the next. Also a good few surprises, joyfully plot relevant and tactile puzzles, and thrilling discoveries (not to give anything away). Perhaps not too technologically advanced but didn't need to be. Perfect for our combination of interest and talent. Next time I visit, I'll go for a harder room with more acexperienced puzzler or two. Wish they had one this good where I live! read more

Every attempt to problem solve around the misunderstanding was met with either "no, we can't do that" or "I would have to call the owner and see if they could make an exception".
