I heard a lot about this place, and I was intrigued enough to give it a try. I'd say, immediately upon entry you can feel the "family style" dining. This place has a warm and inviting feel, that makes it feel like home. Since I was little indecisive on what to opt for, I decided on two entrees. This included the jerk chicken Alfredo & the Catfish and grits. Immediately, I noticed how large the portions are (which is a plus). As it relates to both entrees, the catfish and grits was pretty decent. In my honest opinion the star was the perfectly seasoned and crisp fish (grits were ok) but, I would definitely order again. The jerk chicken Alfredo was quite tasty. It was perfectly seasoned and jammed packed with flavor. (I would only suggest an extra side of Alfredo, as I love a creamy Alfredo pasta. ) Not pictured, I ordered the Berry Me & Jolly Rancher juice. These were a much better and exclusive option instead of a traditional punch packed with sugar. All in all, I would definitely revisit Trap Fusion again. read more

I found out about this restaurant due to an app called Too Good To Go. The concept of the app is to cut food waste down. When I arrived, the employees were not aware of my order and did not have anything ready. I waited for roughly 10 minutes to be served Jerk chicken with rice and peas along with a side of cabbage and carrots. My biggest issue is with the cabbage and carrots- I don't know if it's meant to be served this way or not, but it was HARD. If you've ever touched an uncooked cabbage, imagine biting into it. It was literally so so hard and undercooked. The flavor on the jerk chicken saved the entire dish, it was amazing. Whatever seasoning they use- A+. The chicken on its own- dry and tough to bite or tear. So for food on first impression: the cabbage was hard, the chicken was dry and also tough. I did not like it. I refused to try the rice after the first two items. I must repeat: the jerk seasoning is amazing! Maybe having the food fresh would be better. But I'm also confused because the two workers stated that they had to make me a plate since they had nothing ready. But I am giving grace and assuming positive intent. Overall, I give them 3/5 only because I paid a discounted price. If I would've paid full price, I would give them 1/5 just for the seasoning on the chicken. The location is terrible, driving into the parking lot was a game of avoid the pothole. The restaurant itself is pretty typical for what you'll expect in the area but was nicely decorated to match their trap theme. If you do not like the smell of a now-legally grown plant, maybe come when they first open to avoid the accumulation of the smell. I would like to try them again to give their seafood a chance, but I am in no rush to return or order via delivery service. read more

My mom and I are on a quest to try out a lengthy list of black owned restaurants in Memphis. Trap Fusion happened to be the first stop on our journey. When we arrived, we didn't realize they weren't offering dine-in. No big deal. We placed our order at the counter and waited. It wasn't a very long wait and we were on our way to dig in. A man, presumably the owner, came out from the back and made sure we were taken care of. He was very nice and I appreciated his customer service. Okay the food. Mom ordered the jerk chicken served on rice and peas. For her two sides she ordered fried okra and grilled squash/zucchini. They had lamb chops this day so I ordered a half rack of lamb chops (4) and added a side of fries. I also ordered the lobster nuggets. Idk if we were just hungry or what, but mom and I both agreed that the food was very delicious. There wasn't one thing we tried that we didn't like. Visited the city a couple weeks ago and stopped in due to seeing them in Triple D, I ordered the shrimp appetizer with hood sauce, which is more of a hot sauce base. Also got the jerk chicken patty. I really enjoyed the shrimp but I was disappointed that the patty didn't have a good amount of filling. It was freshly made which is a very nice touch however the wait was so long for it. I think it would be best to give a warning or wait time to customers prior to ordering. I wound up going back to get the half lamb chops. I wouldn't necessarily consider them jerked however. Though the flavor profile reminded me more of Guyanese food though, it was still good just not the flavor profile I expected for jerk. It was more sweet than heat as well. If I had as to return to the city I would try a few more items on the menu. Prices are a bit high but they do have a nice variety. read more

No way! no recommending from me. Here's why... My boyfriend and I ordered here and got the chicken pasta and the fish and grits. When we came in as first time customers we were told to put our orders in on the kiosk ourselves by the gentleman right behind the counter. So once we did that we thought once we finished and got our receipt from the machine that meant our order went to the back and it had to be cooked and we waited at the counter behind a customer to make sure before we walked out to wait. Well 35 minutes later we still haven't received a call/text. My boyfriend goes in and they tell him our order had to be placed through the guy at the front desk with our receipt.. EVEN THOUGH HE COULD'VE TAKEN OUR ORDER FROM THE BEGINNING or let us know not to walk away before placing with him! so we waited another 35 minutes and finally got our food. When we drove home 15 minutes later we checked our food and it didn't have his chicken on his pasta and I was missing the 3 catfish fillets on my grits AS ADVERTISED on their menu, I argued I only had 1 filet CUT into 3 slices which is false advertisement. So we called to let them know and at FIRST they tried to argue and say they put it his chicken on there though it wasn't and I was told that's what 3 catfish filets were.. SCAM. Then they said they couldn't do anything about it. We drove back because.. yes you will do something about it. Once we got there we read on there door no refunds . But my boyfriend goes in and they realized they in fact did not put his chicken on his plate of naked pasta. I was told my order was correct with the 1 filet cut into 3 pieces so I just accepted it. The place looked nice even though it's in a bad spot of Whitehaven. But customer service was a 3/10, food 2/10. Over 2 hours for this. His pasta tasted like jar sauce and flavorless chicken. My grits were not flavored, just boiled grits in water then to the plate unseasoned nor salted at least, but the roux had flavor; unfortunately they put so much grits that the little amount of roux couldn't help it. And the 1 fish filet was pretty good. Wouldn't ever eat here again. Don't recommend, I should've known it was a no go when I seen Uber eats and DoorDash stickers on the door. I heard a lot about this place in a Facebook group. We really wanted pasta today so we decided to give them a try. I really appreciate how we didn't have to keep calling or call pickup then hang up to place our order. They picked up the first time we called and we were able to place our order. We called when we got there to have our order brought out to us. I love that they have a loyalty points program. You can either get a free drink, dessert, or discount on your order. It smelled so good we couldn't wait to get home so we tried a lobster nugget on the way. FYE! It was delicious without the sauce. As you can see, it's enough pasta to feed two people. We ate it all. Y'all when I tell you this place is fye. This place is everything I wanted. My daughter wanted pasta so I called to see if they had a kids menu (they do not). In the process of me calling she changed her mine to a burger. The stuffed burger didn't sound kid friendly so I ordered the me the burger and her and my husband the pasta. Y'all, I only had a bite of the burger before my daughter said she wanted it and smashed the whole thing. Like didn't leave a crumb. There was NO sign of a burger. I started with desert first. They have vegan sweet potato pie that is absolutely delicious. The one on the left is the vegan version. My husband had the Blackhaven zone chocolate pie that was great as well. He had a flavor filled Jerk chicken alfredo, and I had Salmon, squash, zucchini, and broccoli. I really want to give them 5 stars but I just can't. The food is delicious every time I go. My favorite is the jerked Pasta. However every time I go and eat the pasta it upsets my stomach.
