Yesterday I tempted fate because on the last time I'd been out of the house to drive anywhere -- a…read moreweek ago or more -- my car's dashboard electrical system warning light had come on. I was hoping it was just a dying battery, since I have jumper cables, and that I could get this errand completed even if I had to beg a jump-start from some stranger. Alas, it was not the battery, but the alternator, which had failed -- meaning no more juice was going into the battery, and my car therefore went completely dead about 10 minutes from my destination. But I coasted to a stop -- with the engine dead, no power steering, no dashboard lights at all -- into the parking lot of Deerfield Auto Repair & Kwik Kar. Owner Joe Fallin and his capable staff promptly diagnosed my problem and gave me a fair estimate. They replaced my alternator and battery both (never keep an old battery with a new alternator!) within the estimated time, about three hours, and hosted me in the meantime in a clean and well-appointed waiting room (easy to maintain pandemic-driven social distancing). Friendly, competent, honest, diligent -- fate delivered me into good hands, and I'm happy to recommend them to anyone.

They could have made another $200 on the job, but instead chose to lose thousands of dollars in future business from a longtime customer. Their work has always been decent, but there are plenty of mechanics who do equally good work for comparable prices. Customer relationships matter, and throwing away years of future business over something this small simply isn't good business. I would do one star but we've done this in the past that went well so I'll add an extra star

I started looking to see who I would call in the morning. I came across auto fix and after reading other 5 star reviews I was sold. I woke up in the morning called spoke with Daryl (nice guy) he said they would do their best to have me ready to go. When I went to bring it in I found that I had a flat tire. :( I brought it in and met with Chip (also a nice guy) he made me feel confident I was in the right place. At this point I talked to 2 very nice and knowledgeable people. They assured me they would do their best to have it done that day. Long story short they did and I was back on the road with plenty of time. Thank you auto fix unlimited

I'm honestly very disappointed and saddened to even have to write this review because I've known…read moreMario and have been going to him for years. I trusted him, which is what makes this experience even more upsetting. I brought him two of my vehicles. With the first vehicle, I was charged $40 for him to look at it, which I had no problem with and it ended woyh no issues. I then brought my other vehicle to him because the A/C wasn't working and paid $220 to fix the problem. Three days later, my A/C was not working again. I brought the car back to him and was then told there was a slow leak that wasn't detected the first time. He wanted to charge me $625 more which included including $320 in labor, $200 for freon a second time, and $145 for a part. He did not ask my permission My problem was that I had literally just paid him $220 three days earlier for the A/C service. I did not feel that was being taken into consideration at all, especially when I was being asked to pay for freon a second time within 3 days. I told him I was not comfortable paying another $625 and wanted my vehicle back. I was then charged $300 for the time he said he spent looking at/diagnosing the car. I was not given my vehicle back until I paid the $300. So within a very short period of time, I paid him a total of $560, and the problem I originally brought my A/C in for was still not fixed. I am not a mechanic. When I bring my vehicle to someone I have trusted for years and tell them my A/C isn't working, I rely on that person as the professional to properly diagnose the problem and tell me what needs to be done. I don't know what tests need to be performed or what parts need to be checked. I walked away from this experience feeling taken advantage of, and that is extremely hurtful considering how long I've known him and trusted him with my vehicles. Trust and honesty matter just as much to me as someone's ability to work on a car. Unfortunately, after this experience, I no longer have that trust and I personally would not return or recommend his services.
