    I took my car here 3/21/23 and talked with Mike the owner's son. I told him my regular mechanic was…read morea week (located in Elmhurst) out and I needed something sooner. He told me they were NOT out a week and he'd call me by days end, he didn't. I visited the following day since they're a stone throw away. He said I could bring my car in a week later! I did so this morning 3/28/23 at 8:30 am and I asked what his schedule was like. Mike told me they had 1 car to finish & I'd be next. At 3 pm I walked over since I'd received no call, I was told that they tested it but that they couldn't determine the exact problem and wanted to keep it for more testing. The problem is they were working on OTHER cars when I arrived and this guy had nothing but BS excuses telling me they didn't want to just start replacing parts, and that 1 of them cost $200 like that would be some sort of deterent or reason for not going forward with the repair! I'm not sure if he's infering that I couldn't afford it or if he's just incompetent. Either way I'm very disappointed given that I live right next door & I'm in need of a local mechanic.

The primary owner Joe made me feel like I was overreacting and he was condescending. We had to bring it back 8 times over 11 months before they finally decided to replace the transmission. In addition, poor communication about how long they needed to keep the car each time led me to have to rent a car at my expense for out of town family commitments. It was so frustrating that I started to have my partner talk to them because I had had enough. Mike was better at communicating, but it still didn't make up for the 8 different times that we had to bring it back in.

    To start, my family and I have been going to the same mechanic for over 50 years. One problem... my…read moreboyfriend and I just reallocated to Oak Park, and with this comes losing our go to in Cleveland. I have ventured out to others when I desperately needed service and my preferred couldn't get me in, and was always screwed over. The typical you "need" this, this, and this done to your car which led me to have a really poor experience with anything that needed to be done to my car - which had 200k miles on it, and made the process dreadful. Long story short, my boyfriend needed a routine oil change, tire rotation, and wanted to get a full inspection on the car since his just hit 100k miles. The car was also showing that he needed a new timing belt (something that pops up automatically when the car hits 100k, and has yet to be replaced) and we were supposed to be making a long drive the next day for a wedding. I decided to take the car since he had to work. I get to the shop and am immediately warmly welcomed by a nice smile and friendly hello from a man named Tyler. I told Tyler exactly what I wanted and didn't want anything else done besides what I said. I also told him that we ideally wanted to wait on the timing belt seeing as we had to leave for a long trip (I had my fingers crossed on this one since). He checked everything, and came to the waiting room to tell me I can make it there and back before the timing belt needs to be replaced, but that it should be replaced soon. THIS was what I wanted to hear. He also told me I needed new filters (I already knew this, oops), and too the time to show me how gross mine were, so I ended up getting new ones. He ended up giving me a little discount too, and explained, "we just try to do a little something for everyone". Amazing! After driving the car home, it has a completely different (but good) feel to it. Maybe it's in my head, but it truly does feel like it was taken care of properly. I have NEVER had this good of service from a mechanic in my life. Our Planet Automotive will be our new mechanic, and I'm so happy with the time Tyler spent with me on this. I can be a tough critic, but this process was pain-free and easy. Thank you, Tyler, and the guys at Our Planet! :-)
