My meal at Transit was amazing. The food was fresh and fantastic! It came unbelievingly quick and was hot! Everything you want but never expect from a "trendy" restaurant. Stefan my waiter was so efficient and so professional I wanted to buy him a ticket to a city where tips were important! He'd make a killing. Lots of choice and it's all good. Quick service and great food. There's a pad with pencil that has all the menu items on it on each table. You put down what you want on the pad, bring it up to order and soon enough it'll arrive. Chopsticks are the order of the day here so know how to use them or learn quickly! Would go again. Was looking for decent restaurants near our hotel and this was within walking distance. The 4 stars on Yelp also helped me pick this place. After eating here, my friend and I wish that we had something similar in NC. They have both indoor seating and outdoor seating. If you're not fan of American hip-hop music, you can definitely choose the outdoor seating, which is in a closed courtyard behind the building. After our waitress explained to us how the small plates and big plates worked, we both decided to get 3 small plates each at 3.50 Euros per small plate. Large plates were 8.50 Euros. I ordered the following with a side of white rice. 15. My Favorite Duck (Grilled duck breast with five spices) 16. Cumi Cumi (Crispy Calamari) 19. Gado Gado (Steamed vegetables with fried tofu) The grilled duck breast was amazing. It was cooked perfectly and the sauce goes really well with the duck. The Cumi Cumi was nice and crispy not to mention also very salty. The sauce helped to tone the saltiness down a bit. Although the dipping sauce threw me off a bit because it had a strong odor and taste. I think there might have been some fish sauce in there. The steamed vegetables were OK. I mainly ordered that so I can have some vegetables in my dinner. The price range is very reasonable. We were just happy that we no longer had to pay $17+ for dinner every night like back in Switzerland. To be honest, you can probably feel full after just ordering two small plates and a side of white rice. We barely finished our food because we underestimated the amount of food. The waitress argued because I didn't want to tip. She really wanted to argue about that. It ruined my dinner. It's not honest to ask for tips in a such pushy and scammy way. She should've thought I'm a tourist and I don't know how it works here. Even writing twice "tip not included" on the bill is very rude. For all the tourists: This is not UK or North America. Tipping must really spontaneous, no standard on the amount of the tip, and only if you really want to do it. I came here several times, this was the first time this happened. The concept of this place is seriously fun- you sit, get a menu, get a little paper to mark what you want, give it to the waiter and wait until the yummy stuff are on the table The staff are very nice and helpful but can be a bit snobbish sometimes, didn't hurt my fun experience one bit though. The menus are a bit hard to read and there are many things to choose from - the best option is to take a few small plates and share with some rice, for people with serious hunger there are also full sized dishes, even though 3 small portions and one portion of rice did a really good job. I have ordered chicken and mushrooms in curry-lemongrass, marinated beef and yellow curry with chicken and sweet potato - everything was delicious! Ate it all until the very last bite. I went to Transit because a friend worked nearby and we thought it'd be nice to go for lunch. The food was good. I got a small plate of squid salad which was a daily special. I also got a "Against Cold" tea which I enjoyed but for a concoction of just lemon, ginger, and honey, it could be less than 3.50 (not a big deal though) The staff is mediocre. We ordered four tapas to start: tempura prawns with avocado sauce, "duck in pajamas" (duck in basically rolled-up-taco form), dumpling trio, and salmon sashimi in a rice noodle roll. Everything was a bit bland and uninteresting, and the whole point of tapas is to have really flavorful bites!! In addition, the ambiance is cavernous and echoey, and they were playing dance-y music loudly on the speakers, which were blown out and staticky. After our first round of tapas we decided to cut our losses and go fill up on döner down the street instead. This is my first review, so it may not live up to the standards, but I will try my best ~ So first of all, I went here with my friends, sat down and had to say that the atmosphere was really ordinary. The dimmed light gave cozy vibes and it felt like you walked in another dimension. But sadly enough, the service was kind of spaced out and didn't really pay attention to us. It may have been like that because we are still adolescents and they didn't feel like they needed to give us their full attention, but these are just mere speculations. The food was mediocre , it didn't taste bad but it was nothing special. The ordering system was new to me because you had to tick the boxes with the menu you want to order and give the piece of paper to the waitress. Huge disappointment for our first lunch stop after arriving to Berlin. I ordered the fried rice with chicken and could not handle more than one bite. The smell was awful, and the taste was similar. My fiancé tried my dish as well and agreed that it was awful. We asked them to reduce the price on my dish, and they declined, stating that maybe it was the fish sauce they may have cooked the dish in. The stuff is unfriendly and the space is too crowded and tight, with people and waiters constantly bumping into you. Food was also sub pair with a lot of the dishes looking like they were done on the run - the steamed veggies are not supposed to be soaked in water or a ginger tea does not become a ginger tea only because there is literally an uncut chunk of ginger on it. I love Transit. It's always packed, so a reservation or patience is required! You can choose between a lot of small, tapas-like dishes or you can choose a large dish - that's up to you. I always go for the small tapas-like dishes though! One little bowl is 3 euro and a sideorder is 1 euro(rise or noodles). The small dishes have cute names like ''party girl'' and ''bathing beauty''. This is really good asian food(and drinks, especially their homemade icetea) - especially if you want to try several small dishes. Love this place! read more

This place deserves 5 stars for the food and service although the interior is nothing special. If you want to try it you need to reserve a table in advance. It is a quite popular restaurant and it has very tight schedule. We got a table for 1,5 hour, which was more than enough for us as there was no long waiting time for the food. The food was amazing! The concept is simple: you order from a variety of little dishes which cost 3,5 euro each. 3-5 dishes are enough depending on how hungry you are and what you order. We had 3 each which we all shared and we got really full. One can order also main dishes which are large portions but seems like no one really does that. Quality and flavor wise the food was excellent! The only dish I didn't like very much was duck wrapped in a little pancakes. The duck was a bit too fatty for my taste. One of my favorites was the fresh rolls and the chicken sticks with satay sauce. The service was friendly and fast. Everyone spoke English and the menu was also available in English. The interior was simple and the chairs were like little wooden stools, a bit uncomfortable but totally worth it! Definitely recommended for a Berlin visit! read more

The food is amazing, and the service goes very fast. You have a kind of "tick box"-menu where you tick everything you want and you give it to the waiter when you're ready. Good points and bad points here! And take cash - no cards accepted. Good - the green curry sauce was delicious. And the crispy prawns with avocado dipping sauce? Glorious. €3.50 a plate was a good price, and the rice at €1 was good, too! Bad - The duck rolls had a chewy layer of skin/fat. The thai beef dish was overwhelmed by lime and fish sauce. The chicken in the green curry also had chewy skin. Service was slow, and when they brought me the wrong item, the waitress was rude about it (but did take away the wrong thing and bring the right thing). Drinks are absurdly overpriced - €3 for a soft drink? All in all, we left full for €22 for two of us - but we also left a fair bit of food behind. One of the best meals of our two week trip in Germany! Taste was delicious, variety of choices was huge, and prices were very reasonable. We each had two small plates, and all were delicious: green curry, duck, satay, tofu was offered as protein for many choices. Service was good, and it is fairly close to main train station. Whilst probably considered innovative for Berlin, the bits of paper with the menu where you check off with a pencil what you want, is pretty standard in any Dim Sum restaurant in Hong Kong! The menu is limited, which sometimes is a good thing as it means they do the few things well. In the case of Transit, i'm not sure you could say that it was true. Prices from €3 per dish appealed though as you could order a few dishes per person and not feel like you were breaking the bank. We had a selection of a few things including the chicken pockets (aka vietnamese spring rolls), pork & prawn summer rolls, chicken satay skewers, fish red curry, chicken yellow curry and hoi sin duck pancake wraps and green papaya salad. -The chicken rolls were NOT crispy; a rather soggy and sorry affair. -Pork and prawn summer rolls were mostly filled with lettuce and thus rather bland. -Chicken yellow curry had tiny pieces of chicken and hardly any sweet potato. -Hoi sin duck pancakes were good but pretty generic. -Green papaya salad was drowning in its dressing sadly. -The sauce for the fish curry was very tasty reminiscent of my fave curry from my favourite Thai in London. -The best thing about our meal were the chicken skewers. The satay sauce is so more-ish. Peanutty and spicy. Drinks were a rip off at €3.50 (non alcoholic!!) All in all, hitting the average mark for me. This place deserves a flaming brick through the front window. They basically robbed us. But making the robbery worse was the fact that we were treated like criminals by the staff. Read here, a short brief detail of how this place sucks. They provide each table with a "score sheet" menu. Like a sushi place. On either side of the item is a box for either Meat or Tofu. In this box one would check the amount of the items. OK easy. Done that a million times. We order a spring roll with tofu. It comes with Chicken. We found out the hard way by biting into the spring roll. After that, we set aside and politely ask for the tofu version. The tofu spring roll arrives. Great. Mediocre food experience done, we now ask for the bill. We finish eating and notice we have been billed for both chicken and tofu spring rolls. Not a lot of money (this place is cheap, in more ways than one) no big deal. But we mention to the waitress. She then tells us that we ate the chicken spring roll and because we ate the roll we have to pay. WOW wasn't expecting a childish answer like that, so I simply ask to speak to her manager. Few minutes later the manager comes over and says that we forged our menus to make them look like liars, so that WE could get a free chicken roll. DOUBLE WOW. At this point I decide to just leave because I can tell that it is a lose lose situation, and my time is worth more than the price of talking to this half ass manager. So basically we were taken for 5 euros by this place. Treated like total idiots, by total idiots. This happened like 3 weeks ago, but I still felt a burning desire to slam on yelp because it is my only civil way of retaliating to this fuckery. I will not even mention the food, because it isn't worth mentioning. The waitresses sit at tables eating and playing games on their cell phones. They wear micro miniskirts & have bad skin. Checked the place out with my Chinese friend - she likes to go to their other location in Berlin. For me, the newcomer, this was quite a cool idea and concept. 3.50 per plate, you basically order the whole menu and share with your friends. The food was good - for me Westerner. My Chinese friend said it is not that good and the other location is better. Why only three stars you might ask? Well... service was not too attentive and not too friendly, the location is super loud and the table we had was on the way to the kitchen and bathroom. So tons of traffic. Went here for lunch with my co-workers. The restaurant serves Asian tapas. The orders are very cheap (3 Euros each) and 3 dishes are enough for one person. They also have larger dishes on the menu if you are hungry. You can order a side of rice or noodles for 1€ more. The outside deck is a nice place to sit if it is sunny out. I got the chicken satay, duck in pajamas and seasonal greens with a side of rice noodles. The satay was good with 3 chicken skewers and a nice helping of peanuty satay sauce. The greens consisted of Bok Choy and broccoli in a lite soy sauce. The duck in pajamas was my least favorite - having just returned from Beijing perhaps nothing will compare to the Peking duck I ate there. The duck was overcooked and a bit dry. The rice noodles were also pretty shabby so I'd recommend sticking with the rice. A great and affordable place in Mitte. I'll be back the next time I'm in town. read more

When the waitress finally showed up she was rude and egotistical. She said that items that were marked on a weird coded system (no menu) were vegan had fish sauce. This has quickly turned into one of my favourite lunch time destinations. There is a selection of two different type of dishes; the majority are EUR3 and very much a starter portion, and there are about half a dozen larger portion dishes for EUR7. Having a more than healthy appetite I can quite comfortably put away five of the smaller dishes which can lead to a more expensive than average lunch, but for me its well worth it in the tastiness of the dishes. When it's nearly midnight and you are starting to become hangry.. This is definitely the place to go. We were yelping around for 30 minutes around our hotel and this is what we found. A cute asian fusion restaurant. The place is next to a store called 'who killed bambi' so you can't miss it even when you are not wearing your contacts at night ;) the restaurant itself had nice stools and awesome lights! The food was great and cheap, the cocktails weren't that special and add nothing to the night but a higher bill in the end.
