Came here for take-out and was not disappointed. Food is delicious, prices are extremely reasonable, and the menu has a large vegetarian section. For favorite dishes, I'm torn between the eggplants and potatoes in red sauce vs. the cold smoked tofu with cilantro. The latter was spicy, salty, tart with black vinegar, just totally delicious in every way. I love that dense pressed tofu with the smoked exterior. I also ordered the veggie dumplings, which had a great texture, and yuxian style tofu, which I found delicious if a bit too sweet for my taste. An order of food that was enough to feed 4 people came to 30 euros. Highly recommend! Note: since the restaurant adapted itself to German tastes, the food is not very spicy, but I'm sure if you asked for spicier food they would be happy to oblige. read more

But if you compare this place to other authentic Chinese spots I would say that this is slightly less authentic than other Chinese restaurants in Berlin. The dishes we tried were mostly sweet and lacked in spiciness for my taste. I really enjoyed the tofu dish. The chicken was ok but I'd skip the fish next time. read more

Well tickle me pink! I had gone past this restaurant so many times and thought ummm meh because I have to admit it's not so welcoming looking from the outside. I also peered through the windows at night whilst passing in the car a couple of times and thought nah! Then I saw the reviews on yelp and thought seriously? Having joined the yelp community and met some of the reviewers I thought...Yes seriously this must be good. So I took my little cold to try out something spicy. Well we only ordered three dishes, I would have liked to have gone all Asian but I would have needed the stomach of a cow with it's four chambers to get through it all... on that subject you can indeed order stomach, trotters, tripe and the like should you so wish. We ordered Sichuan Style Tofu, Peking styled fried pork with pancakes and the Pork, shrimp, egg and vegetable dumplings. The dumplings were a good size and tasty. The tofu was firm and had a lovely spice to it, just right to unblock my nose! The pork wrapped in pancakes was delicious too. Portions are generous and we were really quite stuffed. Thankfully my friend knows me quite well and stopped me ordering by the third dish otherwise I would still be there eating now! I liked this place very much and will return to try other dishes. But my main mission will be to find people who have a stomach for the more adventurous side of the menu. Really want to try their intestines, hope it's like how my father used to make them. So many dishes to try! Just happy this place is so nearby and to think I have been searching for so long! Prices are a little on the steep side but I have to come to terms with that when it comes to Chinese food unless you get a greasy noodle box from some public transport station, but that is a whole different ball game! I like the food here. You can choose between the western Chinese style or the transitional style. Both of them taste good for me. Das Essen schmeckt mir gut. After living in Beijing for almost 4 years then moving to Berlin 2.5 years ago I've been craving REAL Chinese food and I'm very pleased to say I've found it! Authentic dishes, superb flavours and very nice staff (they even kindly put up with my terrible out of practice Chinese!). Another delightful surprise was the great selection of craft beers on their menu BONUS! But I stayed faithful and had a Tsingtao to truly have my 真 Chinese fix. Relatively cheap and pretty authentic chinese restaurant. The servers are super nice and friendly so I want to give 5 stars for that. Food was also pretty authentic although the choice was a bit limited. The duck was pretty good and crispy but yuxiangrousi 鱼香肉丝 was a bit too sweet. The fried rice was ok. And the bokchoy and mushroom was good 香菇油菜. Guobai 锅包 was great (i believe the place is 东北 dongbei food. They also gave us free white rice! The food took a while to come out and the choice was somehow more limited than in the Bay area/california (i know this sounds weird since they have pages of food but they lack some super common authentic chinese dishes--- which to be fair not many people might order those here?) Otherwise, super good service, tasty food at decent price! Cannot ask for more for a chinese restaurant in Berlin! read more

Great beer selection, but most of the dishes were very oily and the freshness of the vegetables was lost. The steamed fish was very nice, as was the eggplant, but to be honest, my stomach was hurting quite a bit that evening due to the extremely oily consistency of the food. I ate here last week and had a really delicious meal. The restaurant is in a kind of odd location - just down from the Yorkstrasse station in an area of mostly apartment buildings and späti. It took us a second to figure out how to get inside the restaurant...turns out there are sliding doors on the right! The interior is nothing special, just the typical Chinese restaurant stuff, but it was quiet and the booths felt intimate. The menu is quite large! I had difficulty picking something out from all of the options. Eventually we settled on a chicken and a pork dish (I don't remember the names because they were Chinese!) and some pork & shrimp dim sum. Both of our dishes were awesome! Especially the pork, which was cut into very thing strips like straws. The dim sum was very good but it took a loooong time to come out; we had nearly finished our entrees before it was delivered. One cool thing about this place is that they serve craft beer! I was impressed with the beer selection and, although I opted for a Rollberg on draft this time, was excited to see so many unique options. Fine food, but the customer service was really bad. When we had to pay (we were tourists) they didn't accept Visa or Electronic cards (which would be nice to note on the website). They wanted us to go to an ATM and get to money for a fee basically double the cost of the price of the meal. The manager of the restaurant was really incompetent, and didn't understand 1 word English, we had to guess everything he said and he really wasn't educated within the customer service business. Going back and forth between a 4.5-5 only because they forgot our order of noodles & thus it came out way too late.. Food is spectacular, mostly referring to their Spicy Tofu dish with Rice for 9.50. 10 Dumplings for 6.50 isn't the greatest, so you can skip on that unless you are in a party of 5-6. Wow, I did not expect this at all. First, best Chinese food (non-dim sum category) I've found in Europe. Spicy, tasty, and a diverse selection of dishes that go way beyond the typical Asia Box imbiss menu of X with noodles, Y with noodles, X with rice, Y with rice, etc. The menu is divided into two parts -- the first includes pictures of each dish and is mehr oder weniger the best part. Lots going on here, with a wide variety of Chinese regional cooking, and even some (Russian, Indian) borrowed from neighboring countries. The second half of the menu is the more traditional set of Chinese dishes you'd expect to find in a Chinese restaurant anywhere in the West. We tried beef with cumin spice, a whole fish with five-spice flavored sauce, szechuan pepper flavored shoestring potatoes (very spicy!), and a spicy cucumber salad. Service was nice and helpful, and while I little spartan, the restaurant was clean. So, we'd have been pretty with all of that, but then, wow again, somehow this modest little chinese restaurant just happens to have the best, most affordable, and most diverse craft beer selection in Berlin! Really. A few American imports, Belgians, and German microbrews. Flat German pilsners are rarely good matches for spicy food, and wheat beers and rice are a poor match as well, which is why I was so geeked to see hoppy and flavorable beers on the menu here that could stand up to chili peppers and other strong spices. We were less than halfway through our meal and already trying to figure out how soon we could come back without it being awkward. read more

A cuisine influenced by Russia, Korea, and China? Just wow! Their seaweed salad is to die for. Their soups and stews are hearty and perfect for Berlin's awful winters. Kimchi lovers you may have a religious experience. Warning: their Szechuan dishes are properly spiced (very, very, spicy). I'm a regular and with every visit am discovering new flavors. I hesitate to review this largely undiscovered gem, because if more people knew how amazing the food is, this place would be packed. But hell, they deserve the business. Occupying a space that was once an industrial laundry, and decorated a bit like a suburban hotel lobby, Da Jia Le is very much the opposite of a trendy hipster hangout. Whatever. It's all about the food. Order off the menu of Northeastern Chinese regional specialties (the section with the photos), many of which are unlike anything else you'll find in Berlin. The spicy dishes are not only truly, properly spicy - they're wonderfully fragrant and well-balanced, with very generous portions. The Sichuan Pork in Chili Broth is probably my favorite, and one order (13.50) is big enough for several people. The meat menu doesn't shy away from offal and bones (the stuff of real Chinese food) and the vegetable and tofu dishes are sensational too, especially the eggplant. Every time I've been, the service was incredibly friendly and professional, making the experience all the nicer. But it would be really nice if this place delivered too; the location isn't in the most lively spot for a night out. read more

Wow, this is a great chinese restaurant. Already when you enter the restaurant you somehow feel you are in China. The decor is a bit tacky and the place itself has a very large dining room with a lot of tables. The food is really great, I would rate it as the best Chinese food I had in Berlin. We went for the cold potato salad and the squid for starters, both excellent. For mains we had some steamed fish and fried sweet and sour pork. The dishes were just excellent and on top of all this great food this place also has a craft beer list that matches some fancy bars in Berlin. A full thumbs up in every aspect. read more
