My son blew the clutch in his car so I had to do an emergency tow to TransAction Transmission (they had previously been recommended to me for manual transmission repair) on a Friday night after they had already closed. They had clutch replaced and gave me a deal on replacing the brake rotor (I brought a new one in) within the week at a honest, reasonable price. Transaction Transmission has repaired my previous cars and done a great job. So when my current car was rear-ended and the insurance wanted to total it, I brought it here to help me figure out if I should have it repaired or junk it. They were able to help me as soon as I brought it to them. We went for a ride and within a block they were able to figure out it was missing second gear and would need major repairs very soon. Our transmission went out on our work truck. We dropped it off and we're told it would be three weeks but then, a month later, the truck still sat where we dropped it off without even an estimate for repairs. The owner was irritated when I asked for an update and complained that he couldn't ever get work done with the phones ringing all the time. He kept promising to start on the truck "next week" and clearly had no intention of doing so. We finally towed the truck to a different mechanic who had it repaired in about a week. When we moved the truck I was shown a full lot of trucks waiting for repair that were on line in front of ours and was told again that phone calls keep work from getting done. Had work done on my 2006 ford focus. Jeff was very friendly, and honest. One of the parts I needed replaced was $600.00. He was able to locate a "like new" used one for $100.00 I don't know many shops that would go out of their way to save the customer money. Very reasonable price. Car is running like new again. I took my F-150 with the transmission of horrors in and complained that this is the second time that it needed a rebuild and they told my a long list of details that make this tranny one of Fords bad ideas. Then they told me exactly what it needed in machine work, and they also suggested a shift kit that would eliminate the problems with this tranny. At 100,000 miles the transmission in my car went kaput. I took it to Dave's and for $2,200 they rebuilt it. Fast forward 40K more miles. The transmission went out again. Two other shops looked at the transmission and quoted $2,400 and $3,500 to rebuild it. The guys at Dave's took a look and said "It should have lasted longer". They wanted $1,100 to $1,200 just to open the transmission and tell me what was wrong with it. They said it would take $2,400 to rebuild it. I would have been happy had they offered to discount the repair seeing how they fully admitted that it had broken before its time. If I could give them minus stars I would. There was no Transmission problem to speak of, but Jeff went above and beyond by helping a small pre-school, who had just lost use of a trailer they were going to use in the Beaverton Celebration Parade by providing a bigger trailer and hauling it to the location where it would be decorated.
