They told me everything was fine and even put gas in the car before I picked it up. Instead of taking it back to Dave's, I took my car straight to the Honda dealership, where they first found green sludge in the fuel pump and cleaned it out. Thought that would solve the issue. Nope, the check engine light came back on. Another trip to Honda, Honda did more testing and determined the fuel Dave's Auto put in my car was contaminated with diesel. This has caused weeks of frustration, multiple trips to the dealership, and extra expense. I would not recommend bringing your vehicle here. I've never had issues with my car before this experience.

At that point, he recommended a new fuel pump, which they ordered that day. They installed the new fuel Pump and also found one of the spark plug wires was bad and grounding out as well. They replaced ALL of my plug wires as a courtesy! Not gonna lie, I was Leary about purchasing a vehicle here at first, but we are thoroughly pleased with the OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE from their service center!!! Long story short Scotty and Dan Geiger had wasted Aaron's peppermint snapps liquor. Aaron returned after work, needing his liquor. Scotty was a few years older as with Dan, apparently they both framed me in wasting the liquor. But I didn't drink any. My dad gave Arron a twenty. It was all down hill with constant scapegoating and belittling. As well I was smeared as Hispanic or part Mexican. I'm not Hispanic nor Mexican. If I was I would embrace that and have more friends of that culture.

Jims automotive installed a timing belt on my car . When it was done I picked it up and brought it…read morehome I was happy to have it done I opened my hood to hear it run and look at it and I noticed 4 bolts sitting in the spots they go into on the spark plug cover . The bolts were not even hand tight . I was baffled and I thought ok I'll tighten those down and never go back to Jim's automotive in forest grove . Well I had that timing belt done April 22 this year 2024 . So driving home July 18 so less than 3 months later and I hear the worst sound coming from my engine . I wasn't going to have it towed to Jim's no way so I took it to a Japanese car specialist . He opened it up and the timing belt was shredded. They found a bolt that had come loose from the install that Jim's did . So I called the owner Jim and asked him if he would pay the other shop to fix what they did wrong and he said no . He did offer to fix the work but I told him no way will I ever bring my car back to them . When I spoke to him, he told me that sometimes when you take your car to another shop, they noticed things that the previous shop might not have picked up because of an extra set of eyes. I think this is total BS I should be able to depend on the shop that I take my car to in the first place, I expect my car to be fixed the first time if not the first time then maybe the second time but there's no way I would bring it back to them a third time. This is my experience with jims automotive and Forest Grove. I am going to be out a lot of money out of pocket because they did the job incorrectly. The first time the install they did did a lot of damage to my engine and now I am out of pocket just be aware of jims automotive if you have had good luck with them then that's great but this is my experience with them. They will not pay for another shop to fix it correctly and they will only fix it on their dime. If I bring it to them, I will never bring any of my vehicles to them. Unfortunately, this was a very bad experience. I don't know what I will do from here as far as trying to recoup my money back I have talked to a couple attorneys and we will see where it goes but be aware of jims automotive unless you want to take it back to them multiple times to make it right in my eyes you shouldn't have to take a car back to have it repaired multiple times because they didn't do the job right the first time I am going to upload some pictures and you can see the damage that has been done. I probably have bent valves. I'm probably gonna need some head work. It's probably gonna cost me around $4000, and this was all done because of preventative maintenance. I didn't even need to have my timing belt done at that time. The only reason I did it is because I had the money and I had about 15,000 miles before it was due. My car ran completely fine before I dropped it off to them the first time.

A mechanic you should avoid…read more I was referred to this mechanic shop by a friend who owns a car dealership in Hillsboro. I was told he has extensive experience with the electrical systems of older cars. As I was restoring a 1959 Mercedes 190SL, this morning on July 11th, I naturally visited this place. The job I had was relatively small and manageable. It was only to remove the fuse box and two additional connections, each with only four wires connected to them, from my old wiring harness and replace it with a new, identical harness, one with the same color-coded wiring. I drove over 25 miles and arrived at this shop 10 minutes past 9 in the morning, where I was greeted by one of the workers. He said the owner isn't there yet and will come in about 30 minutes, and I replied, ' Okay, I will be back around 10 O'clock. Meanwhile, a truck arrived, and I was informed that it belonged to the owner. Rob came, and I, with a smile on my face, said good morning to him. His answer was, "Why are you here?" We open at 10 AM. I said, 'If you want, I can come back at 10?' He asked why I was there. I explained and acknowledged that this should be a tiny and easy job for him. At the same time, I told him that, as a restaurateur and chef, one of my former customers who has a dealership in Hillsboro had recommended him. He spoke in a coarse voice and angrily looked at me, saying, 'No, it's not a small and easy job. You grab a few ingredients and put them on top of each other, and then you call yourself a chef.' It is a tremendous job. And at the same time, he said we are not working on any car older than the 1980s. I told him that, less than a month ago, someone on your Google Business page reviewed that you worked on his 1970 Chevelle Malibu. This time, he said to write down what car I have so he will find me another mechanic. I told him what my car was, and this time he came to the door and asked me to leave, repeating that he would find another person for me and contact me. I wondered and asked how he would do it without knowing who I am or my phone number. Anyway, I left and the only impression I got from this place and Rob is that the color of your skin, your hair, and your accent play an essential role in whether he accepts you as a new customer and does business with you or not. If Rob had been honest and refused to do my job because it was small or he was swamped, rather than the way he acted, I would have thanked him and left without giving him any bad reviews. However, he decided otherwise. If I knew that, I would never go to this rundown mechanic shop.

Purchased may sets of tires and had other car maintenance done. Is this how they treat good long time customers? Never again!

They found the problem in the engine using a borescope and the front desk lady told me I should get it checked out at fuel monkey who works on engines all the time. I did and the Jeep is on the way to working right. They cost a bit but their mechanics are alright, everything they said made after the years I have been working on cars myself. No scams and they give you paperwork to show you just what they are doing. Maybe one caveat they wanted 400 for a new car battery, I laughed and said no I can put a new battery on myself. They charged up my old battery anyways which was a nice touch. Kind of a small shop but they let me park my jeep there while I got a hold of fuel monkey to fix the engine. Good people or at least I think so.

My wife and I recently purchased a 2013 Ford C Max from Doherty Ford. During our purchase we asked for ALL cost to be included. We signed papers and we're heading out the door and the sales person handed us the DEQ paper work and informed us we needed to take it through DEQ so they could get our plates. That was $21 and 2 hours of my time. While at the table I asked sales person if ALL recalls had been done on vehicle. I was informed that the service department checks and does any recalls during their multi point inspection. Well after having the car for a couple weeks we received a recall generated by ford motor company as new owners. Also on drive home from dealership my wife noticed a tail light out(she was fallowing in our other car). We,also noticed that the detail on the car was very unprofessional. There was mud marks and pieces of trash in side car. Makes me question how well of an inspection the service department does. We were suppose to have our plates mailed to us but after a few weeks and nothing I made contact and was told that they had them. Did I want them mailed to me? Well we said we wanted them mailed. Why would we drive an hour or longer to pick them up? After contacting them in regards to the recall , and complaining about the DEQ issue the manager said he would come pick up car, leave us a loaner, get repair done and detail car then return to us. Well after five weeks of hearing nothing I called them and asked what happen. Was informed that the service department told them I was out at dealership and told them I would take it elsewhere to get recall done. I had never been back to dealership from the day we drove off with car. They did come get vehicle and did recall repair and returned car to us. They did not detail or fix taillight. Over all this dealership was way more interested in the sale they made then the customer they could have made. I will not be back and have already directed two people to go anywhere but Doherty Ford. read more

I had a warranty repair done on the door latches of my 2017 F-150 in December, 2019. Several months later I discovered that one of the rear doors wasn't operating correctly. I needed the truck fixed quickly and didn't have time to get it back to Doherty so I had to take it to another dealer in June, 2020. The dealer found the problem and fixed it but told me I had to pay for the repair and go back to Doherty if I wanted a refund. I reluctantly summarized what had happened in a letter to Michael Doherty, expecting that I would have to go to Ford Customer Service to get this resolved. To my surprise, a week or so later I received a call from Doherty's service manager who told me he understood what had happened and that he would have a check sent to me. While I think that Ford Motor Company needs a more holistic approach to warranty repairs, I really appreciate Doherty Ford standing behind their service work. I highly recommend Doherty for Ford service and will return to them if there is another new Ford vehicle in my future. read more

We have purchased many vehicles from the guys at Doherty. Always an enjoyable purchase, no hassles! We purchased our 2016 Escape in May 2016. We have had a couple things that went wrong with computer modules. They have gotten us in and then when needed replaced the modules. This last time it was the audio and I had an appointment set, but due to our weather cancelled 2 times. We finally got it in on Jan 20th......dropped it off and Casey called me that afternoon when it was ready! From the owner on down to the service advisors, mechanics, body shop, sales and can't forget the office workers always a pleasure to come away knowing our vehicle has been taken care of! I spent less than an hour talking to Mark to let him know exactly what I want. I left since they didn't have anything on the lot so he said he'll get back to me asap and less than 30min he found exactly what I wanted. Got my truck in a few days later with a big grin ear to ear, simple as that. This isn't my first purchase of a new car and I know the process. I pretty much laid down all my cards so we both know what to expect and no haggling back and forth. If you come prepared, it'll be smooth, if not, you'll be here (or any other dealer) for hours on end just to save a buck...YMMV. read more

Our 2014 Ford Escape needed transmission work done recently and a set of new tires (best price I could find). We checked it in with Casey in Service. After a few days we retrieved the car but it still had shifting problems related to another issue that came up. Casey took it back in with no problems and had it fixed and road-tested a couple of days later. It now runs fine. The guys at Doherty Ford went above and beyond for us when our F-250 blew some fuses right before a trip. They worked me in twice in one day, found the blown fuse where I didn't even known there were fuses, and replaced them for free. Then, a couple of weeks later, when my battery died before yet another trip, they worked me in immediately and replaced the battery within a couple of hours and charged me no labor. We will only take our vehicles to Doherty. Honesty and integrity. read more

How many body shops do you know who will find a better deal for you from somewhere else? That was my experience with the body shop at Doherty Ford. I was investigating putting roof racks on my Flex and they told me that the factory racks are just too expensive to buy and install. They recommended that I investigate Thule or other types of racks instead. Now that is fantastic customer service. read more

I turned around brought it back and let the salesman know. he said the shop would look at it and repair anything further. He called the next day and notified me the oil pressure sensor was bad and they replaced the part. inquired about a loan for the vehicle and they wouldn't due to price of the vehicle. At this point the hard inquiry exists on a car they knew wouldn't be eligible for a loan due to the asking price. my first experience here and most likely my last.

Nope, the check engine light came back on. Another trip to Honda, Honda did more testing and determined the fuel Dave's Auto put in my car was contaminated with diesel. I checked the rear brakes and they were fine. They were trying to scam $1700 out of a young girl that did not know any better. The estimate was written on a notepad from another company. BE VERY CAREFUL with this company, get a second opinion! I am filing this with the BBB.

But unfortunately, this repair experience has convinced me I should never go to him again, and i will be recommending that others stay clear as well. I had a Kia Niro that needed an engine replacement. The Kia dealership gave me a quote, but i decided to ask Eric for a quote as well because i trusted him more to do the job. I paid him $7500 for the job and towed him the car. He asked me to pay in advance because he was having trouble paying his taxes. The job took several months, during which Eric didn't give any updates on the repair and wouldn't respond to any of my communication. When he finally responded after many attempts to get in touch, he told me there was a problem with the battery and only Kia could service it, so we got it towed back to Kia. He also gave excuses for why it took so long to repair, saying he had to close his shop because some of the workers got covid. I came out and used my own AAA service to tow the car to the kia dealership. Kia looked at it and found that there was no problem with the battery, but the problem was the engine was installed incorrectly. I was playing middle man calling the kia dealership, then Eric, back and forth, and eventually gave Eric the dealership's number and he said he would work with them to figure out what was wrong with the car. I heard nothing back from Eric for months. Eventually, Kia called me and said they were impounding my car. I dropped everything and got it towed back to Eric immediately. Still nothing. I went to his shop a few days later with an invoice for him to pay for the tow, which he partially paid with cash. No apology, anything. He just wanted me out of there. He told me it would take a week or so and he wouldn't charge me. Another month went by, i heard nothing from him at all. I showed up at his shop and asked for an update on my car. He said some of his workers were on vacation, and another was in a motorcycle accident. The repair hadn't been started on. He said it would take another 3-4 days. He also offered me a loaner car, which he never delivered on. Over the next weeks i reached out multiple times, only for him to ignore all of my communication. As of today, it appears no repairs have begun. This entire process has so far taken over 6 months. Multiple people have advised me to sue, maybe i still should i guess- but that's not really in my character. There have been no apologies at any point, and it has been near impossible for me to figure out what's even going on without driving almost an hour to his shop, borrowing my wife's car when she's not using it. Eric is a nice guy, and a good mechanic. But over the last six months he has made it abundantly clear that i was his very last priority, and he didn't care at all about the substandard work, numerous delays, or the ordeals i went through as a customer. I feel very disrespected by a man that i trusted and respected for many years.

Having said that, my last visit will be, well, my last visit. Not only did the mechanic that looked at my van misdiagnose it and seemed more interested in appearing "cool", he wasn't wearing a mask. I am a diabetic and my wife has had pneumonia a couple of times over the years, so we have to be especially careful these days. When I informed Mr. Heaton by text about this, I received no answers at all. After waiting a week, I texted him again. He answered, then when I brought up the mask issue, I was again ignored. I saved the texts. Bottom line: If you are into anti-masking, (-and I assume Trump support), and other reprehensibly dangerous practices, continue to go to Heaton Automotive. There are plenty of Oregonians who agree with this stance, so I'm sure his business will thrive, regardless. In the meantime, I'm going to Clay's Auto. At least they care enough about their customers to take the proper precautions. I have to say, ghosting people on text who are trying to stay healthy is beyond immature. At least stand up for your ridiculous beliefs.
