I was very nervous since we had walls taken down, a screen door area removed and our whole house was opened up. However, they were there throughout the project and they treated us as if we were their only customer. They answered all of our questions and we never felt that we couldn't trust them. Rolando and Sean were outstanding. Also, Timberbuilt only uses their employees (painters, electricians, carpenters, etc) which are also very outstanding and trustworthy. You wouldn't have to worry about other contractors along the way. They allowed us to have the home we always dreamed about.

Our DJK Dream home was completed in October of 2024. Since then, we have enjoyed moving in,…read moredecorating and living a more relaxed life because of the amenities it provides. The process took over a year and the most stressful part of the process was cramming our Frenchie, my husband and I into an apartment during the construction. I think the best compliment I can give the team at DJK is that I was sad when the home was complete because we thoroughly enjoyed working with their team, their processes and watching the progress. In fact, if we could, we would start building another home with them right now! With the above said, we want to share a little of our story. I have lived in the Chicagoland area since August of 2012. One of my first memories upon house shopping around the West Highlands and Downtown Naperville were the giant signs on various construction fencing with large green letters - DJK. I instantly investigated with some desktop research and was tremendously impressed with their transparent and thorough information on their website, djkcustomhomes.com. Let's just say that that initial curiosity led to my early decision that when the time comes, I wanted to build a DJK home. In 2016 I purchased what I could afford in the West Highlands, a split level built in 1959 that had been flipped in the hastiest way possible. No problem, my goal was to live there until the roof gave out and then maybe I would be blessed with the means to knock it down and build the dream home I imagined. No way - that was probably just a pipe dream, right? Seven years later I found myself to be newlywedded and my husband and I were looking for a larger abode to combine our two households. We did our due diligence to be responsible and look for a house we didn't need to knock down, but nothing seemed to fit. Elated and nervous, my husband and I walked into the DJK model home in Downtown Naperville not really knowing what to expect. I am sure you can imagine feeling out of your league. Would the salesperson even talk to us, and would we be able to get anything close to our budget? Do not be intimidated when you walk into their model home showrooms. Meeting Shannon at the model home was like running into a long-lost part of the family. We were welcomed and felt like this dream was going to be possible. Our meetings with the other team members felt just the same. Why? They listened, were compassionate and didn't make us feel like our budget was ridiculously small or that the dream house we wanted to build was unattainable. When sitting down with Cassy, she had solutions, ideas, and the expertise to work with the vendors and trades to deliver what we envisioned. She and the rest of the team wanted to be as proud of our brand-new house as we were. COMMUNICATION is what needs to be emphasized with DJK custom homes, because they have mastered it. If there was something of concern that we noticed, our project manager, Mark, was on the case before we could even bring it up. We found DJK's website portal to be perfect for communications and we were never kept out of the loop. Please choose DJK custom homes for your building partner. We want them to be around to build our next home and many other family homes in the future. They are worth the money. You will come out a long and exciting process, relaxed and ready to enjoy your dream home.

That said, I did feel that some of the pricing on upgrades ran a bit higher than expected, and like with any large build, certain trades contacts were stronger than others. The standout of the entire experience was our project manager, Andy. He was truly fantastic--responsive, proactive, and always willing to go the extra mile to make sure things were done right. Andy made what could have been a stressful process feel much smoother, and he was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. If you are considering building with DJK, I'd recommend them--especially knowing you'll be in great hands if you're lucky enough to have Andy as your project manager.

We had them rework our master bathroom…read more We couldn't be more happy with the results and the five year warranty is something you just don't find anywhere else. Several years ago, our house caught fire by a lightning strike and to make a long story short, the builder hired to rebuild it came up short on the quality and workmanship side of things. My wife and I were not happy with the results they left us with, so we hired a different company to come in and "fix" the bath. I won't name them, but they were even worse than the builders we originally had. So at this point we had an unusable master bath that was worked on twice and cost us thousands of dollars. We found the Kitchen Master and liked what we saw on their web page so we contacted them to help us with our hopeless master bath once and for all. From our first meeting with our designer, Anna, everything just went unbelievably smoothly. She guided us through all of our selection choices and helped us to pick out the items we were on the fence about, right in their showroom. The actual demolition and re-construction work was completed by Josh. We've dealt with quite a few contractors over the years and unfortunately, most of them we were not happy with but Josh was terrific. A professional through and through, he had the knowledge to get the work done quickly and at a high level of quality. Everything that was done, all the tile work, the custom glass shower and the installation of our new vanity counter looks absolutely amazing. His attention to detail was remarkable and the work he did to get things done right, did not go unnoticed by us. Tom our project manager, always kept us up to date with scheduling the work, and was in constant contact with us to let us know what would happen with the job at any given time. He was a great point of contact and never failed to answer our questions and return our calls or emails. We always knew what was happening with our remodel and never felt out of the loop in any way. Everyone we worked with at the Kitchen Master treated us with respect and put us at ease with their knowledge and level of professionalism. From the start we felt like we were in good hands. If and when we decide to remodel another bathroom, we will not hesitate to call on them. It's nice to finally feel like we've found a high quality team to work with that we can trust. I'm just fully and utterly disappointed. This review is coming months after my project was…read more"finished" because I don't believe in reacting in anger. But I can't sit in my tub or stand in my bathroom without seeing the mess that I paid good money for. This company is called top notch and yet I received some bottom rung remodeling work. Michael was referred to me by a friend who had his company do work in her house. She assured me that he and his team were the best in the business when it comes to tile work and remodeling. But it has become clear to me that I was sent the B team on my project. I'm sure in their world my $20,000 project wasn't worth the time because someone was probably spending more than that, so their efforts went there. Let's start by the false promises made. I hired Michael in September of 2022. Michael told me that they couldn't start my project until March of 2023. I immediately said, no I can't wait that long because another clown of a contractor already messed up and my bathroom was in ruins. To get my money, Michael promised he could move things around and start in Jan/Feb. I really wanted to work with him based on the recommendation so I agreed. The project was started on March 13th, so I ended up waiting anyway. The 2 workers in my house that did everything, tile, electric, plumbing, painting, etc were very nice but clearly are handymen and not professionals in any of those specific fields. Every single fixture in my bathroom has leaked since completion of the project - sink which ruined the vanity and they had to replace it, toilet the first time I used it, drain under the tub which leaked into my living room ceiling and ruined it, and the shower door that leaks out water every time I open it. You might be thinking, oh, that's the door that's a problem, but it's not. The curb from the shower is angled out so the water pools at the door and then floods out when I open it. The leaks were seemingly fixed but Michael didn't even address the improperly angled curb. He ignored it which means I just have to live with it I guess. The tile work is incredibly sloppy, with black grout from the floor smeared up the sides of the walls. The ceiling and wall drywall are messy and have cracks and lines in them. I'm basically waiting for the next thing to fail. My living room ceiling that was ruined from the tub leak was patched horribly. The workers also wanted to just paint the patch they made. I had to force them to paint the whole ceiling to make it look somewhat presentable. And, before they even fixed the ceiling they tried convincing me that the leak was from something else (my chimney, a tree root?, me being too rough in my tub and breaking its seal with Michael throwing in a dirty and inappropriate sex joke). Michael had the nerve to ask me to book another bathroom remodel with me in tears while his crew was tearing apart my living room. Michael is a schmoozer. He talks and smiles and pretends to care. I never was fooled by him but I let him make his over the top gestures all the while thinking, who cares, if he does the job right? But the job wasn't done right. And to top it off, he got into a screaming match with my friend who stood up for me and called him out on his BS. Instead of profusely apologizing to me for what he put me through, I haven't heard from Michael since. Think long and hard before spending thousands of dollars with this company. My bathroom is beautiful, thanks to my design, but it is tainted every time I see their shoddy work.

For the past couple of years, I had been wanting to make updates to our home but couldn't find anyone I could trust, and I honestly thought it was a lost cause until I found Ibro. He reached out, was very friendly on the phone, came to the house, understood my vision, talked me through the expected timeline, and provided a detailed and fair quote for the project. We also wanted to stay within a budget, and I really appreciated how transparent and thoughtful he was in helping us manage expectations and make decisions that kept the project on track financially without sacrificing quality. He was clearly someone with a lot of integrity who follows through on his promises. Ibro and his team consistently finished their work within the quoted timeframe, which was truly impressive and a testament to their experience. He handled all technical aspects of the project expertly, his craftsmanship showed meticulous attention to detail, and he provided valuable consulting throughout the process as well. We really appreciated their ability to remodel while we were still occupying the house as well. This saved us money and they were always respectful of our space and routine. During those couple of months, they honestly started to feel like part of the family. They transformed our bathroom, bedrooms, living room, kitchen, and stairs, they truly can do it all. I'm so happy to have found a reliable and trustworthy builder. My father is an architect and also met with Ibro, and he was very impressed by both his talent and experience. They are professional, reliable, honest, take pride in their work, and deliver beautiful results. I've included some before-and-after photos as well to show how amazing everything turned out. I am forever grateful to finally have my dream kitchen. It is so beautiful and inviting, and I look forward to cooking meals, gathering together, and making memories with my family there for years to come.

We selected D-Wing to replace our roof, gutters and to do some trim work and we had two issues that…read moreoccurred during this experience that I wanted to share: Issue One: When we signed the contract and gave them their deposit our salesperson (John) said it should be about two and half weeks for them to get the project started. After five weeks lapsed without any contact or updates from D-Wing, I reached out. They then informed us that they were ready to start the following week. Although weather caused an additional delay, communication remained sparse and unreliable throughout the project. For a job costing nearly $12,000 expecting basic customer service and timely updates does not seem unreasonable, but D-Wing appears to operate differently. Issue Two: For our gutter installation we requested a larger sized downspout be used because of ongoing clogging issues. This type of downspout requires a specific transition nozzle to fit the gutter properly in certain situations. The D-Wing crew or subcontractor choose not to use the correct transition nozzle and connected the widest part of the downspout to narrowest part of the gutter. As a result, all three front downspouts extended beyond the gutter base, leaving a gap about two inches open and exposed at the connection. When I questioned D-Wing about this, they said the connection was proper and commonly used. I then sent them an example of the transition nozzle that should have been installed, but they continued to defend their method. After I pressed the issue, they offered only to bend and modify the installed downspouts (aka "Jerry-rigged") rather than use the correct nozzle. This response seems very unprofessional for an established contracting company. And D-Wing never resolved the issue satisfactorily. I apologize for being a little wordy, I was trying to be thorough and helpful. Hopefully, you all have better luck finding a contractor...Be careful.

I wish I could share positive remarks similar to other's experience with this company but to be…read morehonest, the experience with our kitchen remodel was awful. The positives were the initial consultation, and the cabinet quality. Once the build started; however, everything went downhill very quickly. Our project was suppose to be from June 5th-July 28th and ended up "finishing" in December. First, we were given a calendar to follow the progress of our kitchen and know what was happening on what exact day; however, that itinerary was never accurate. There were more than two weeks of accumulated days where people were suppose to work and no one showed up. When a lonely soul would show up, he would be wandering around the house or sitting outside in his truck waiting for the project manager because he said he has never done a task like framing. Good to hear as a client :( Second, we had scheduled in advance ABT to install and panel our appliance. We chose this date based on this calendar we were given. When it came close to the install date, we had demo remaining and still down to the studs. We hounded the project manager about the timeline, he would reply with the same response that they were on time. This wasn't the case because they were far from being ready and thus we lost our spot for install. Finally and weeks behind we got dry wall up, and low and behold, we had walls off by 7inches. The worst part of it all was that I had to get my tape measure out, check their work, and point this out. We had to harass the higher up's and they gave us a new project manager. They had to tear down all the incorrectly measured walls and because of this incorrect measurement we had to decrease the size of our pantry. Installation day for my appliances came and we had to use their recommended company Wehrli because we lost our ABT spot. This ended up being $700 more than what ABT charged us. We asked if this would be covered because of how delayed they were and we got a whopping $250 credit...Our backsplash still has holes in the grout, one of our cabinets were sanded down when they sanded our drywall, there were seams that I had to caulk myself, and when their cabinet medics came to touch up the imperfection of our cabinets they missed many spots we flagged. We have under cabinet light rails that are not even, and still have small holes in our walls. This is the finished product we will have to live with because there was never a final walk through and there never will be. Looking back, our experience felt like we chose any ordinary contractor but paid a kitchen design company price for it. We waited a year for this company to be available because of they sold us on how we can trust them that they would manage this project in a timely manner as my wife and I are both busy with our own lives; but in the end, it ended with us managing, checking, and following up constantly only to be disappointed with the final result. Wish we had a better experience.
