I wish I could share positive remarks similar to other's experience with this company but to be honest, the experience with our kitchen remodel was awful. The positives were the initial consultation, and the cabinet quality. Once the build started; however, everything went downhill very quickly. Our project was suppose to be from June 5th-July 28th and ended up "finishing" in December. First, we were given a calendar to follow the progress of our kitchen and know what was happening on what exact day; however, that itinerary was never accurate. There were more than two weeks of accumulated days where people were suppose to work and no one showed up. When a lonely soul would show up, he would be wandering around the house or sitting outside in his truck waiting for the project manager because he said he has never done a task like framing. Good to hear as a client :( Second, we had scheduled in advance ABT to install and panel our appliance. We chose this date based on this calendar we were given. When it came close to the install date, we had demo remaining and still down to the studs. We hounded the project manager about the timeline, he would reply with the same response that they were on time. This wasn't the case because they were far from being ready and thus we lost our spot for install. Finally and weeks behind we got dry wall up, and low and behold, we had walls off by 7inches. The worst part of it all was that I had to get my tape measure out, check their work, and point this out. We had to harass the higher up's and they gave us a new project manager. They had to tear down all the incorrectly measured walls and because of this incorrect measurement we had to decrease the size of our pantry. Installation day for my appliances came and we had to use their recommended company Wehrli because we lost our ABT spot. This ended up being $700 more than what ABT charged us. We asked if this would be covered because of how delayed they were and we got a whopping $250 credit...Our backsplash still has holes in the grout, one of our cabinets were sanded down when they sanded our drywall, there were seams that I had to caulk myself, and when their cabinet medics came to touch up the imperfection of our cabinets they missed many spots we flagged. We have under cabinet light rails that are not even, and still have small holes in our walls. This is the finished product we will have to live with because there was never a final walk through and there never will be. Looking back, our experience felt like we chose any ordinary contractor but paid a kitchen design company price for it. We waited a year for this company to be available because of they sold us on how we can trust them that they would manage this project in a timely manner as my wife and I are both busy with our own lives; but in the end, it ended with us managing, checking, and following up constantly only to be disappointed with the final result. The overall process from initial contract and design meetings to project completion went smoothly and on schedule. While they are not the least expensive, we were willing to pay more for a better result and fewer project headaches - they delivered. We were very happy with everyone we worked with, in particular our designer, Kimberly, and project manager, Bill. Redoing all the bathrooms in a house is a dispruptive project but they did a very good job of minimizing the hassle and mess. We will use them again. read more

We hired Synergy Builders to do a major renovation and remodeling project on our home. The project included a kitchen remodel, 3-season room addition, new deck, upstairs laundry room, and many changes to the master suite and bathroom. Synergy managed the entire process from design through construction with professionalism and efficiency. They were a pleasure to work with through all phases of the project. The project manager was frequently on-site, often daily during the construction phase and always available if I had a question or concern. We lived in the house throughout the project and Synergy made every effort to make the house as livable as possible despite the construction that was going on around us. We hired Synergy to do a three part remodel of our english basement. Synergy came highly recommended by family who had done multiple projects with them. Our English basement has a powder room that hadn't been remodeled in years as we only owned this house for 10 years and the house 35 years old so we are slowly remodeling it little by little. The basement has a huge ledge which runs the length of the room and a railing system that looks up to the kirchen. Synergy remodeled the bath, rail system which entailed all new iron posts (from wood) and had the wood ledge ripped out and replaced with han-stone. We also had the tile floor installed in the bath and then our storage closet on the same level which entaliled disassembling the custom wood shelving and re-installing. The coordination of getting and picking out all the different materials was great... Colleen at Synergy was a tremendous help in doing that. The contactor, Jim was awesome... beautiful wood work, great attention to detail and very informative in explaining what he was doing on the job. We are very pleased with the final outcome and really enjoying our space. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! Do not use this company!! My husband and I hired this company last year during the shut down to build a composite balcony off of our master bedroom and replace the wood surrounding the outer bay area where the balcony would be with composite (we had heard good things about this company in the past). They delayed the project start until this year. They started the project at the end of June and still have not completed. The project manager, Brad, initially claimed we would not need a permit for the project. My husband knew that did not sound right, so checked with our city and filed for one himself. The first week they started the project, their people cracked the glass in our custom window in the bay area of our kitchen. They also damaged the actual framing of the window and claimed the window was likely rotten to begin with, and that's why it was broken when they removed it and replaced it (they ripped the alarm system wires off and shoved the window back in place, but there are gaps around it now leaving my kitchen vulnerable to the elements when it rains). They still have made no steps to replace the damage they have caused. We got a second opinion from a window company this weekend who confirmed that the window frame IS NOT rotten but was damaged when Synergy removed and replaced the window (the framing surrounding the actual window is partially ripped apart). It is damaged beyond reapair per window company, so we can't just replace the glass--the window pane has a huge circular crack. The multiple times I've talked to the business owner to complain about the damage, he's clueless about what's going on and references that the project manager, Brad, said the window was already damaged. I have photos that prove otherwise. Now it is going to cost us $3000 to replace this custom window in our kitchen that Synergy busted. I AM LIVID WITH THIS COMPANY'S SERVICE!!! THEY ARE AWEFUL!! Additionally, we had them install a patio door in our bedroom. The paint they used to repaint the wall around the newly installed door is a shade off compaired to the surrounding paint. I noticed it the next day after it dried and he got paint on my crown molding. They also had the painter install the door knob/lock on the patio door and he installed it incorrectly. The door is difficult to open and close now. This company may have done quality work in the past but they have done a HORRIBLE job on our project. It's been a NIGHTMARE! Next week, we'll be two months into this project and it's still not complete. I have pictures documenting all of the damage and unfinished work. After multiple phone calls with the project manager and owner, nothing has been rectified. We will now have to hire a separate contractor to finish this project. STAY CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY AND AVOID A HEADACHE!! read more

Once again, I have used Synergy Builders to remodel our upstairs bathroom because of the positive experiences with other projects.. We have previously used this company to remodel our master suite and first floor kitchen/ dining area/living room. I am quite happy to recommend this company mostly because of the ability of this staff to communicate and to listen to my concerns and ideas. Because of all of the above and our confidence in Synergy , we did not seek other estimates. The layout of this bathroom was to remain the same but needed quite a bit up updating since it was original to the home when built in the 80's. John was helpful in terms of all that had to be changed . The design team assisted me in choosing everything needed since the room had to be gutted. . I found that in general, phone calls and emails were answered promptly. I also found everyone on the team to be very courteous even when I asked silly questions. There were glitches along the way , as there usually are ( a pandemic was one of them), but Brad , who oversaw the project, worked quickly to rework plans, reschedule or redo anything necessary. This room was changed from old and dreary to bright and cheery. I am so grateful for all of the work put into this project from John , Brad and the Synergy team. read more

We have used Synergy for two projects in the last 2 years. They completed a gut remodel of our kitchen and replacement of the flooring in the entire first floor of our house in 6 weeks in 2014. It was a daunting process but we felt comfortable with the Synergy team and we could not be happier with the outcome. Our project manager, Mark V., kept everything on schedule. I spoke with several contractors for our basement project via the phone. I had another company come out and I didn't like him at all, didn't listen to what I wanted..I didn't return his call when bid was ready. John came in and put me at ease right away, he listened to me and what I wanted and made it happen. He also worked with our budget and we did some projects to keep costs down. I found an old antique door that they were able to install on my storage room. They made my vision of a cat doorway underneath the stairs with another door to hide litter boxes. When has anyone described a being "under construction" as a pleasurable experience? This was. I bid our (unfinished) basement remodel to four companies. Synergy provided the most thoughtful and scalable design, accommodating our needs for the space and our budget. Their personal approach and attention to detail helped them win the work. What closed the deal? Their easy willingness and can-do approach to move a water meter out of what would become the main living area of the finished basement, something all three other bidders said either couldn't be done or would cost too much to do. Once the work started, we continued to be impressed with their staff, workmanship, level of communication and project management. They completed the job a week earlier than scheduled! Again, when is the last time you heard that about a project? We are working with them again right now on our next project and expect to have just as good of an experience and outcome. I have a beautiful master bathroom! After bidding the job with 2 other companies, Sandy was the only one to take the time to re-create the space. She also gave me high end finishes while staying within the budget. The tile, granite, plumbers, shower door, electrician, and trim people were all very meticulous. I would have any of these people back in my house again. Jason was great, always keeping me informed and working hard. Eric the project manager was always available by phone or email and was frequently at the job site. I was always included in any decision making. We signed on with Synergy to complete a master bedroom/bath and laundry room addition for our growing family. After interviewing other builders (some of whom came back with lower bids), it was clear Synergy was the company to go with. Synergy initially set us up with a project manager (Brian) who came to our home and discussed their business model and what they could offer us from a professional stand point. Once the decision was made to sign on with them, Brian returned with an architect and his team directly from their office. Within a very short time, several sets of conceptual drawings, including 3D versions were shown to us. We moved on to their design team and had several meetings with Kate who was more than patient with us as we moved through the very difficult process of actually turning our conception into an actual living space. Once decided how we would proceed, a project manager (Mark) was assigned to us. As construction started, it was clear Synergy works with only highly qualified subcontractors and trades. All the trades were extremely professional, prompt a courteous. My neighbors were amazed with how quickly the actual construction phase lasted and minimal disruption to our day to day lives the project caused. Although there were certain areas of our project we had to complete on our own due to budget constraints, I would not hesitate to recommend Synergy to anyone looking to complete a project. I hired Synergy Builders to remodel my master bedroom and bathroom along with some additional work in my home. I started the process late in 2010 and it's now 2012 and the work is still not finished. The project manager didn't manage my project, nor did he come on site much to see what his resources were doing. He would send resources out in the wrong order (painter before the drywall person) and then not give them the list of items that they had to complete. Their upfront planning process seemed thorough, but they did not verify building specifications as promised and the end result was they could not install what had been designed by them. Their workmanship was poor in the area of drywallpreparation, painting, and framing. Their workers damaged my wood floors and also damaged some of the new things that had installed. Synergy made dozens of mistakes and kept making and repeating the same mistakes over and over again, right up to the last time they were on site doing work. They want me to pay for all of their mistakes and accept their work, even though they did not comply with their own contract, nor did they complete the work as contracted. I have submitted a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. I had good references on this contractor so I was surprised right from the start when they started making major mistakes with my project work such as: Had to reframe 3 times because the guy didn't read the floor plans. Couldn't get a pocket door to function correctly because they didn't check that the walls were plumb. Grouted the tile and left deep grooves between the tile allowing the dark color of the tile bottom to show on all the tile edges, regrouted with the wrong color grout, mismeasured the granite and cabinet and they couldn't install the faucets because there wasn't enough room between the faucet hole and the wall. Still haven't painted my trim and 2nd bathroom walls with the right paint. They painted the trim two different colors and painted some of it with flat paint instead of semi-gloss. They forgot to replace the damaged subfloor and when I pointed that out, they didn't want to remove the framing to replace all of the sub floor, so an area of damaged sub floor was left under the new tile. My walls have nail pops, depressions, different textures, debris and dirt painted onto the surface. These are just some of the things they did along with not completing all of the work specified in the contract. The project manager tried bullying me to get me to pay for the mistakes they made. They have never done a final walk through with me, of course because they never finished the job. They have been terrible to deal with and don't want to accept responsibility for their numerous mistakes. Of course, this is only one persons opinion. read more
