It was only when the initial surprise wore off that one of them spoke up and said, "I think it's because your drink can't be in the can. It has to be in a glass cup." Now, I wasn't with my partner when they ordered their drink at the front counter (I don't really drink much, and I was in the bathroom at the time), so whether the situation was: A) my partner paid at the counter and took the drink (still in the can), thinking everything was a done deal or B) the employee at the front forgot to pour the drink in the apparently required glass cup before giving it to my partner ~ I have no idea ~ Whichever scenario it was, what I DON'T understand is why the employee who took the drink couldn't have explained the situation to us and offered a glass cup in the moment? Or why an employee didn't stop my partner from walking away with the drink at the very beginning when he purchased it so that it could be poured in the requisite cup? Bare minimum: why was the apparent rule not explained at any point? I tried looking for signs in the patio area that stated the rule after the fact, but I could not see any. Maybe I'm blind?? Maybe this is a Seattle thing? But if it's a Seattle thing, why did the people sitting next to us (who seemed like locals) also seem surprised by the behavior? Even if at least some of them were maybe aware of the rule, at the very least they seemed just as startled as we were to witness an employee take away a customer's ~already paid for drink~ no explanation. Disclaimer: this was back in late February-early March of 2026, so if they have since added such signs - great, perfect, love it - but I only just got around to writing this review now. 7 months later.
