The white wine sauce with shallots was perfect. However, I did have a difficult time deciding which sauce to choose. The whisky with smoked bacon also sounded amazing. If I had to say anything negative, it would be to maybe add more bread to soak up the sauce. I probably could have asked for more, but I didn't. That's on me. One criticism is there were tiny flies in the bread basket. They showed up halfway through our meal. I noticed two in the bread basket so we were done with the otherwise yummy bread. During the course of dinner, we noticed an older (not by much) come in and dine alone. She seemed so overjoyed to be there, ordered her food with a smile from ear to ear, the moment just spoke to us. We asked our server, who we found out later was the owner (nice!) to let us pay for the lovely lady's diner. We thought it was something nice we just wanted to do. The cheese, lightly fried is served with a spicy sauce that I really enjoyed, bit was too much for my wife. It was superb. We selected the monkfish and sea bass for our mains. Both were excellent, moist and flavorful fish-generous portions of each. This was an extremely satisfying and enjoyable meal. It was I've of our best in Scotland. Since moving to the Portobello area, and subsequently discovering this golden egg of a takeaway, I make a point of experiencing Keanes House at least once a month.
