I am so thankful to have found Tradewinds Pet Suites! I recently went on a 9 day trip, and I was anxious to leave my two dogs for that time. Tradewinds went above and beyond and provided exemplary care for my boys. Their kennel was spacious and they had an indoor/outdoor run, with my two boys sleeping indoors during the night. They also have a gorgeous, large yard where my dogs were able to have (supervised) playtime each day. I love that the daily playtime is also one-on-one with the caregiver, which is so helpful for dogs who are reactive/wary toward other dogs. The daily update photos on Facebook really put my mind at ease- my pups seemed to be having lots of fun! The facility itself is beautiful, and the staff did wonderfully with my dogs, especially with my anxious dog. They were accommodating of my requests, and worked hard to make both myself and my pups feel at ease. Our high anxiety dog Bella boarded with TradeWinds Pet Suites over the New Year's holiday which is a huge deal for all involved. With the right meds and diet, I felt comfortable with the level of care we received here. The runs that are offered are top of the line, spacious and both indoor / outdoor. The yard for exercise is huge and the views are stunning. Alex and her team are friendly, intelligent and go the extra mile to ensure you have a pleasant experience. I have boarded my two cats and German Shepherd there for various trips, the longest being one month and a half. Alex and Sandy are caring and responsible. They understand that our pets are our family members. One of our cats got sick and Alex took him to the vet, afterwards he was fine. Although they are far away, the drive is worth it! We wanted to make sure our 2 dogs were cared for like our own children so we were very picky about who we want to care for them while we were away. We shopped around and found Tradewinds. They were also recommended by the vet we go to for our dogs. We visited the facility and were impressed with the kennels and play areas. Our dogs always sleep together at night so we got the King Suite for them to be together. This is now our 4th stay with Tradewinds and are completely satisfied with the care they provide for our dogs. They even called us with questions and concerns while we were away to make sure our dogs were safe and secure. Now, our dogs get excited when they are on their way to stay at Tradewinds. Our furbaby Sig had never been boarded before. Although he was a little hesitant at first, the staff coaxed him out to play some frisbee and they became instant friends. Update: Once again, I can't say it enough, we LOVE Tradewinds! We recently had to board our baby boy due to construction needed on our house. We had the days booked and dropped our baby off. Low and behold, the construction company had an issue arise and had to cancel on us last minute. We had to rebook a date with the construction company. We contacted Tradewinds, explained the situation, and they helped us rebook our baby for the new dates! Thank you for working with us, Sandy. We love this place! It is spacious and beautifully maintained. Our furbaby loved it. We took our furbaby here when we left for mainland to see family and felt very comfortable with Sandy and the crew watching him while we were away. They posted videos on Facebook of our furbaby so we could see how he was doing. It hit Christmas morning and we really started missing him but we knew we could check Facebook and see how he was doing later in the day (time difference). I am so happy with Tradewinds Pets Suites! Our nine year old Lab/Pit, Ace, has been to boarding while we travel at least 2x/year since he was a pup in Florida, California, and now Hawai'i! So I can say we've had some experience dealing with different Daycare and Boarding businesses. With that being said, Sandy and her crew are by far the best we had!! Right before our 6 month advanced planned vacation, we learned that our dog needed surgery (toe amputation). This was financially and emotionally stressful for us because our doggie was just healing and on 4 types of meds right before boarding. I didn't want to cancel this long awaited trip, but the Vet reassured us that the time frame of our dog healing and dropping him off to boarding was perfect. As a crazy pet parent I still had my doubts, haha, considering my senior pet needs, i.e. food allergies, bandage wrap... I communicated everything with Sandy, who was so understanding, kind, and patient with us. We felt at ease during our trip away knowing that Sandy and her crew are knowledgeable with animals and Ace's situation. We felt like Ace was staying with extended family! I absolutely love this place and so do our dogs. We've be going to Tradewinds for the past five years. Whether you have a Chihuahua or a Rhodesian Ridgeback, like my Chico and Nala, they will love it. This is the only place I will take my dogs when I go off Island. My dogs get so excited when we turn down to go down the Valley Road. They actually have more space when they go here than they do in my apartment. Alex and Sandy are great they truly love the animals and want them to have a good time there. There is a larger gentleman there that I haven't met yet but he is constantly keeping the grounds in excellent shape he is very friendly and always waves I feel like family when I go here. read more

We have sent our dogs to Tradewinds now for a couple of years multiple times during the year and it is absolutely the best on the island and a peace of mind when we travel. First off, my boyfriend and I love to travel. We have a lot of friends and family on the island and have definitely tried having dog/house sitters (in that priority... we'd be fine locking up the house and having no one home if we didn't have dogs). We've even tried leaving them with friends. But none of those options, although free and with people that we've known for forever, could make us feel as comfortable as taking them to Tradewinds Pet Suites. And it's not just because we're paying them to watch our fur babies (because the damage that they could do to someone else's house could be JUST as costly!)... but you can sense the love and care that they put into their work to try and make the animals (and owners!!) feel as comfortable as possible during the highest of anxieties. They are very accommodating to everything, from your schedule to special requests. But you have to respect the precautions/explanations they take and do because it still is a business. We've been using them for over two years and have entrusted them about four to five times during that period. Because I always leave at least one con (not necessarily subtracting stars), it would have to be the location because they are DEEP in the west side. But knowing that our animals are in good hands, I would happily make that drive. I love that Alex makes the animals and us feel comfortable from the time of arrival. She's always outside to greet us and, when we pick them up, she has everything packed and ready and the dogs look happy and clean (which is an oxymoron because I don't think they like baths that much!). The best part is that we can see them on Facebook during their "play times" so it definitely puts us at ease... and prevents us from constantly checking up on them! Tradewinds Pet Suites is a place that our dogs can feel like is a home away from home and I know they are being constantly looked after without getting into too much trouble! read more

I'm so glad I boarded my dogs with Tradewinds Pets! My two dachshunds had LOTS of room to run, play, and sniff, which they absolutely loved! The kennels are nice and roomy and the fencing is very secure, which was an important factor to me because one of my dachshunds is an "escape artist". :) The staff is the best! I've known the manager, Alex, for many years and I know she absolutely loves animals so I knew my dogs were going to be well cared for. They also constantly update their Facebook page so I could see pictures and videos of my dogs, which was awesome since I really missed them during my lengthy trip. Tradewinds is also unique as they were accommodating my male dog who is not neutered. Most facilities will not take pets who are not neutered. I highly recommend boarding your pets here and for future trips I wouldn't go anywhere else! read more

Words simply cannot describe the loving care that my corgis, Lucy and Lily, receive from Sandy, Alex, and all of the staff at Tradewinds Pet Suites in Waianae. Daily play time is a must for corgis (and all pets, let's be honest!) and the ENORMOUS play yard is an absolute delight!! Not only do the dogs get to run around on a daily basis, but the staff post videos and/or pictures of your pet on Facebook three to four times a week, and sometimes daily. All of us know how wonderful it is to see a picture or video of your pet when you are far away. I appreciate that this kennel requires numerous vaccinations (and that they must be updated each year) as well as the fact that they require your pet to be checked for giardiasis and other intestinal parasites which are easily transferred when pets are sharing a play yard. But what I truly appreciate is the love that is showered on my girls when they stay at Tradewinds Pet Suites. We are so happy that we chose to leave our lively, rescue pup with Sandy, Alex and staff as she had lots of space to run and play in a safe, spacious, quiet and pleasant environment. Cannot say enough about this kennel!! Taking our dog Keaton to the kennel is always a traumatic experience for me! It can be difficult to trust people with a part of your family! But when my husband and I arrived at Tradewinds Pet Suites we were pleasantly surprised! We were greeted by a friendly woman named Alex who immediately bonded with Keaton. We could tell she genuinely cared for dogs, which you don't always see at kennels! Tradewinds has several kennels with an indoor portion and then a huge run that goes outdoors for dogs. It was perfect for our active lab mix, Keaton! I felt completely comfortable leaving our dog in the hands of Tradewinds Pet Suites, with the wonderful facilities and great people I knew Keaton was in good hands! Also, they were true to their word and posted several pictures of Keaton on facebook while we were away, we loved seeing our smiling dog while on vacation! Alex is an amazing person! We arrived on island in September with our dogs. Prior to arrival it was arranged for the dogs to go to a pet sitter. The pet sitter called at 6pm and stated that she would not be able to watch the dogs. We called around, and everywhere was closed or not able to have space to board two huskies. Even though it was after hours, Alex answered the phone, and was able to stay and meet with us so that we could drop off the dogs. Alex took great care of the dogs and was able to accommodate with our schedule. Kennels are clean, and have indoor and outdoor runs. Dogs are also given breaks where they can play in the yard. Great communication with how the dogs are doing / how they did while boarding. Highly recommend Tradewinds for your best friend. read more
