It has been a few years since my last review update of this Trader Joe's and things have changed quite a bit. The COVID lockdowns are long gone and this store returned to its regular operations years ago. There are no longer restrictions on how many people can go in at one time. Shelves are often fully stocked (unless you go late) and they have been fully staffed. There have been some permanent changes of course. There is no longer a "free sample station" in the back. While I understand why in a post-COVID world I have to admit I really miss it. It was always a fun way to try something before you buy. They also used to have samples of drinks like coffee and that was always welcome. Ah well. One thing this location has begun doing more is moving stuff around. The "new items" shelf has moved a couple times in the past year. The soaps and cosmetic items have moved a couple times too. It's a tad annoying when you have your mind locked into a certain location for things only to find them moved somewhere else but this is a minor quibble. The actual layout and shelving etc. is all still the same as it was a few years ago, though from time to time it seems some shelves are shifted around to accommodate different items. There are also islands of products during holidays that may vanish during the regular season. Service is still great with a friendly staff who always work hard to make customers feel taken care of. That said, I noticed the cashiers no longer try to make small talk with you anymore. I don't mind, but I'm curious if this was some type of company-wide edict they laid down in 2024. This is still my main TJ's and I have a deep affection for it. If the parking situation were better I'd give it five stars! read more

I've been shopping here for along time. For the past three or four summers NJ has been issuing summer EBT benefits. I've used them without a problem, I know the process. The embarrassment myself and my son felt today because the cashier (her was nice don't get me wrong) and the manager made myself and my child endure, just because they didn't want to listen to my advice on how it's should be processed (Based on it being done in this very location multiple times). After finding out my car had been badly damaged in the parking lot, the team checked on me, held my cart, expedited checkout, gifted me a small potted flower, and even helped load my groceries into my car. I would easily give this TJ's location 5 stars if the parking situation wasn't as annoying as it is. I have major issues with any place you have to PAY to park and the entire reason you're there is to spend money. Metered parking is pure greed, but that's a separate story for another day. However, this TJ's lot is indeed expecting "pay for play" unless you're there on a Sunday or after a certain time during the late evening when it's actually free to park. What sucks even more is this is the only (or one of the only) locations that carry alcohol. Some of my favorite wines come from TJ's. So I'm bound my this location for that reason, most times. Otherwise I happily saunter my hips to a location much closer to home (with FREE parking). So why do I give 4 stars? Simply because I love me some Trader Joe's, lol. Parking debacle aside, I do like this location, conveniently located next to downtown Westfield by other great eats and shops. I've only encountered a rude employee once, in many years of going here. Been shopping at this location for many years, but first time reviewing. I love Trader Joe's for the unique variety of items, some of which I don't find at my local super market. it's clean, well organized, beautified with flowers and plants, and staff is friendly. Also, unlike a lot of businesses these days, they are well staffed with cashiers ready to ring you up. Two downsides: prices on certain items have climbed substantially- par for the course with this inflationary environment, and the quality of produce has gone down. I picked over bags of apples today only to not buy any because they were beat up. The bananas were pretty bruised up too. read more

This is a thank you review to Jason at this Trader Joe's. The store was about to close and I called and he put two aside for me to quickly grab when I arrived. It's this level of above and beyond that is hard to come by nowadays, however, Jason reminded me that there are still really GREAT people in this world. I liked this Trader Joe's because it was roomy and full of helpful employees. And had their usual terrific prices of course. However, they were out of my favorite frozen meals (and a few other items) which was sad. But the many team members were hard at work filling up the bare areas. Partially it was on me since Sunday night before closing might not be the best time to go. Trader Joe's is still awesome in my book!  Parking was a tad confusing at night. If you're entering from Elm Street, it looks like the parking lot is right there (a separate pay lot next door?), but you have to drive past the store and park in a TJ's lot that's closer to Prospect Street. read more

The staff here are really friendly. We called ahead to reserve two cases of wine and while we waited perused their extensive alcohol selection. The snack sample of the day was scalloped potato chips- yum! Shout out to Kev for being funny and Tony for the personal tour through the store once I asked for the bathroom location. This is my favorite Trader Joe's because they have liquor. Staff is always friendly. They do get packed on the weekends but lines go by fast. Their parking lot gets packed but they do have ample parking. I would go in the morning on a weekday as soon as they open and are fully stocked. read more

I love this TJ with all of my heart but it's either go early or don't go at all. The parking in Westfield is a mess because it's just crowded the the traffic builds pretty fast. I've found myself at this TJ location recently because they are always stocked and have certain items that the one in NB doesn't have. I think it's worth going to if you go early. read more

As with all the TJ's, parking is terrible. Main reason to come here is because they sell Alcohol. I love watching the Lululemon mom's fight over holiday items like Turkey for Thanksgiving. Seeing rich people complain about grocery is the best reality show for me. Similar to school board meetings. read more

This is one of the busier TJ's to which I've been. The lot was jam-packed, though I was fortunate enough to find a spot. Apparently there is a nearby municipal lot for spillover. While that's good, the bad news is that those are pay spots. Kind of silly near a grocery store. Kind of a flaky source of revenue for the town, but only a minor knock against this TJ. Hard to blame them for municipal ordinances, but at the same time, the grocery store should have a larger private lot to accommodate their customers. Despite the volume, this location is well-stocked and well-organized in its layout. There is an ample (and friendly) staff stocking shelves, working the check-out area and helping guests in general. Of course, I'd be remiss not to mention that this particular TJ separates itself from many other NJ locations by selling alcohol. OK prices on beer and spirits. There are some excellent deals to be had on wine. read more

I was familiar with TJ's from visiting relatives in CA. When they announced East Coast expansion I was over the moon, and when the first opened in Scarsdale, NY, I was there! Fast forward to today, and I have three within a few miles including my hometown. As this store sells booze I usually pick Westfield as my location of choice. Has a decent sized parking lot - very busy even on a weekday morning though. People are coming in and out so I found a spot relatively easily. Lots of COVID-19 precautions in place at this time. Once you're in the aisles though, it's a bit of a madhouse and Trader Joe's and their staff can only do so much. I still felt safe as everyone had on their masks and no one got too close to you though it was tight in there. Plenty of products in the store and also, they sell alcohol at this one so win win! Shopped at this grocery store a few months back and it was delightful. They had proper lines, all Covid precautions were in place, the staff had proper masks worn and the shoppers were maintaining social distance while shopping. This store has a good selection of fresh produce, coupled with both organic and non-organic products scattered around the store. If you are a big organic buyer, I wouldn't put all my eggs in this basket. They also have a good selection of wines and hard liquor. This store can be your one stop shop for groceries and liquor. The best thing about Trader Joe's is their prices, which can be the lowest if you compare other similar grocery stores, and the amazing unique selection of products only available here, which creates this curiosity to shop here over again and discover new items year around. As dry goods go, if they have it in stock its on the shelf, produce, refrigerated stuff might still be loading in- but we're talking within 60-90 of opening, not 11-12 like in NYC. So be patient! Really good rotation of wines, gotta say I am impressed. All the TJ spirits too- so their booze selection is great on all price points. Always a lot of registers open, so your wait is minimal. Flowers are also very nice and will usually last woth proper care- I had an orchid plant for over 2 years. So yeah before heading to a get together, stop in for a small bouquet, bottle of TJ corn mash and a bag of truffle flavored popcorn...you'll be the life of the party. read more

We stopped buying them for some years now. We also stopped buying the frozen vegetables. Whole Foods has better quality items/options. I wish they would bring back the frozen organic kales. Those would be better than Whole Foods. What we buy frequently from the store: Cocoa powder: it makes the most delicious hot chocolate, cake frosting, brownies, and cakes from scratch. Any olive oil in the darkest bottles. Herbs and spices. Italian hard cheeses: they add extra yum to pasta, soup and salad. Holiday cookie tins. read more

I happened to be in NJ for the day and decided to pay this location a visit. When we arrived we were a bit shocked by the limited supply of fresh produce. Granted it was 6 pm on a Saturday night but the supply was seriously lacking. The store itself is spacious which made it that much more apparent. What was in full supply was....alcohol. Fully stocked and lots of different options to choose from. I picked a few different wines, and a mixer for old fashioned cocktails. The drink options and the eucalyptus saved the trip. I would possibly visit if in the area again. But I know not to make a special trip. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Trader Joe's in Westfield. I have always had great experiences here with diligent, friendly staff. This afternoon was WONDERFUL. I was searching the entire store looking for a product that I love and I could not find it on the shelves. Out of nowhere, an employee cheerfully asked me if I needed help finding something. He then proceeded to look up the item and I followed him to its location. The product was hidden on the shelves behind a hanging display, but it was there and I found it all because of this fantastic employee. I cannot eat gluten and this is a very desirable product for me and I was so happy to have it and I purchased 3 boxes. I greatly appreciate employees like this who go the extra mile, because it is so hard to find good customer service these days. read more

I am blind and this store refused to help me shop for my items or answer questions about where items were in the store. They do not accommodate blind customers and I was turned away. Trader Joes does not offer delivery - does not offer disabled people the option of purchasing online and having their groceries delivered. This Trader Joe's really didn't disappoint! Super clean and well organized. I happened to be in the area and was in serious need for some snacks ( don't judge me). Trader Joe's seemed like the safe and healthy option at time. Although I ended up getting a bottle of wine and mac and cheese (once again, don't judge me lol). Prices were pretty standard like other branches of the brand. If it helps, I went around 10 am on Saturday. Surprisingly it wasnt so packed and the check out lines were moving quick. Wanted to give TJ their typical 5 stars but this morning - Sunday at 8:45 am - there was a lot of staff standing around blocking the freezer part just standing there chatting oblivious to a customer wanting to grab a frozen item. Then I go to customer service counter - three gentlemen there - having to ask where the soy sauce was - and not one of them wanted to make eye contact!
