Trader Joe's is great store but they need to hire new staff that embodies customer service and is kind to all people. It is a shame to feel the obvious racism in a causal shopping environment. The staff who is an older white lady ruined my shopping experience when I tried to move my cart so I am not in the way of others but to her I was "in her way". She aggressively pushed my cart even farther away and gave me a look. I grabbed my cart back to turn it around and she bumped into it huffing and puffing, not considerate enough to say excuse me or sorry. A moment later she greets a white gentleman with all smiles. Thank you for reminding me to not shop here and find better stores. Good luck shoppers! We've already established in previous reviews that I am well versed in all things millennial, and Trader Joe's is decidedly the grocery store of our generation. I am a longtime Trader Joe's fan, having been spoiled during my time at Emerson College by the neighboring location on Boylston Street in Boston, but ever since coming to Rhode Island, I have to make do with a road trip to the only location in the state all the way out in Warwick! However, the quality and variety of products plus the low prices make it more than worth my while! This location is bigger than the one in downtown Boston, and about the same size as the Brookline location for you Bostonians who are in the know! It's also less crowded than the city location I know and love, even on prime weekend shopping days. I am pleased with the larger aisles and open layout because there's less of a chance that a Sunday night shopping excursion will turn into a brawl over the last bottle of Everything Bagel seasoning! They also have a sample table where they let you try a new product every time you go in. Tonight's was an awesome creamy tomato soup that I never would have fallen in love with if I couldn't try it first. I bought two packs of it! The produce is fresh, the frozen items are creative and tasty, and the desserts are crowd pleasers for when friends come to visit. Also, how can you not love a place where a week's worth of groceries costs less than sixty bucks? I love cooking for myself as much as the next person, but some nights (especially rehearsal nights), I just can't EVEN, and Trader Joe's prepared foods have been a lifesaver! Check out their awesome salads (I love the Vietnamese Tofu Banh Mi Bowl) or burritos (Chile Verde Pork for the win!) for quick and easy weeknight meals that are healthy and filling. I could probably live on Trader Joe's products - that's how much these are staples in my weekly meal repertoire. The employees are super friendly and down to earth, and always willing to lend a hand. I drive 40 minutes once every 3-4 weeks just to come here. I make it a point because of consistently above AND BEYOND customer service. Coming in with a fussy toddler and LEAVING the store with a super happy kid tells any parent this is an amazing place to shop. One time a worker walked into the isles just to give us some stickers and recently someone let my toddler help scan items. This made the kiddos day. A typical well run TraderJoes. I see with a couple of the reviews people complaining about the staff or the covid interaction etc. well I have never had a problem with the staff in this store. That said their are other Joes that have more accommodating staff, but it has never been a problem here. Their are a couple of quirks that are not the best. Foremost is parking, not a good situation however difficult to fault Joes for that. Also if you are familiar with other Joes you are aware that the size is on the smaller side. I have not enumerated the products you will just have to go to see the selection which is very good. A line sometimes to get in but manageable in a difficult time. Worth checking out. read more

Trader' Joe's is great. All kinds of good and different things to eat can be found here. The produce selection isn't the best but what they have is extremely good and their snack section always has a wide range of trail mixes, various nuts and chips. On my last trip I picked up a bag of goat cheese potato chips. A big mistake but it was pretty neat that they had something like this. I like Joe's much better than whole foods cause the prices are actually reasonable. Yeah the location sucks that's why it only gets 4 stars, but it's still a great place to find good things to pig out on. read more

Literally the best time to come to Trader Joe's is right after lunch and before the 5pm drive from work. Odd hours but while browsing around on my day off, gotta say it was refreshing not bumping into 20 people in a single aisle. The selection though in this particular TJ's is outstanding! They always try to keep their inventory well stocked and there's always a store associate willing to help you find your item or at least suggest an alternative. Sure, I occasionally have to go to Stop n Shop because they don't have a particular item, but it's well worth all the other delicious, wholesome, and sometimes hard to find ingredients I get at TJ's. I have been known to compare Trader Joe's to Disneyland. For me, it's one of the happiest places on Earth :) Every item in the store is void of food dyes and corn syrup. Their selection of everything from cheeses, to nuts, to produce and frozen foods offers a wide variety at great prices. I am rarely disappointed by something purchased at Trader Joe's. On top of that, the staff is very helpful and friendly (partly why I compared it to Disneyland). I am also eternally grateful for the lack of lines at this Trader Joe's location. After living in NYC and waiting in lines that literally wrapped around the entire store, this Trader Joe's is so convenient and (minus the alcohol) still boasts the same selection as other metropolitan locations. Usually a really pleasant experience at this location- everyone is extremely friendly and helpful, store is clean, and there's hardly ever a line. This location is a tad smaller than other TJ's so they may not necessarily carry all the items you expect or that you need (just in case, there's a Price Rite and Target not too far away). Docking a star because it's somewhat inconvenient to have to stop by multiple grocery stores to get everything on your list. A note- on a few especially busy occasions (the last Sunday of a holiday, the day before school/work starts up again), this store has been quite chaotic and understocked/understaffed. All said, Trader Joe's remains one of my favorite places to shop! read more

Always an adventure when you go to TJs. Going on a weekend should be avoided if you can. Place gets jammed up with the wanderers, the vegans and clueless. It's a fairly small store so a lot of customers + carriages makes for a not very enjoyable visit. Catering to the "crunchy" crowd provides you with a selection of items that you may not find in your average grocery store. Quality goods and worth the trip, in most cases, but I advise you to make your shopping experience mid week so you can see more of the store, get less frustrated and meet the friendly staff. read more

Trader Joe's on Bald Hill Road is, (in my humble opinion), a very small market as markets go nowadays. No, this not a criticism, it actually is the basis of me complementing the store .. The space is well used and items are displayed professionally. The staff is attentive and goes well out of there way to help if asked for it.. The fresh veggies are always sorted and those items that are past their prime are culled out regularly. Yes, prices are competitive. I decided to write a quick review after going there on a very very busy Sunday afternoon. The entire parking lot was full. Upon entering it looked like they had a rock star signing autographs. My initial reaction was that I thought it would take forever to get out of there. I only needed a couple of items. But I decided to enter the fray.. I found my items easily, approached checkout and to my amazement, even though the lines seemed long I was out of there in a very timely manner. Hats off to the check out crew that day . They seamlessly moved people thru checkout at breakneck speed all while smiling and engaging patrons. Will I go there again . You bet! Will I concern myself with the store being busy? Nope.! Do I really care it's small (in comparison).. not in the least.. Give them a try. You will probably like it.. any criticism ....yeah just one thing : cups for FREE coffee are to small.. I have to keep going back if I want more than one cup.! (Just kidding here). It is unfortunate though, that the State of Rhode Island won't let them sell wine like their sister stores in Massachusetts. Despite being the only Trader Joe's in Rhode Island, this location isn't overwhelming in any of the ways one might expect it to be. In fact, it's rather humble and a little on the smaller side when it comes to a popular convenience/grocery store. When you enter, you'll be greeted with a variety of flowers and bouquets on the right and then straight into the produce section you go. Large bags of nuts and dried fruits are on the shelves to the left of the produce. My favorite things are (in no particular order): - The adorable 1-3 serving size vegetable baggies. Whenever I'm looking for cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, salad mix, or fresh tomatoes, Trader Joe's has got it. I love that I am able to just pick up a small bag of pre-cut cauliflower florets or choose between individual tomatoes if I so prefer. - The $1 pasta! A great deal and so many fun types of pasta to choose from. My selection is usually always the bowtie. - The $3.99 pre-ground coffee. Whether you're into dark, medium, or light roast OR if you like to grind your own coffee, Trader Joe's has a surprisingly large variety of beans for every coffee aficionado. - The frozen pork gyoza. It is such an easy, quick meal to make and it tastes great! Nearly identical to the ones I grew up eating. - Snacks galore! My personal picks are the sea salt & turbinado sugar dark chocolate almonds, dried mandarins, crispy crunchy chocolate chip cookies, and roasted coconut chips. Affordable and great to bring home if you live somewhere with no Trader Joe's. TLDR: Yes, Trader Joe's is absolutely worth the hype. Each time I visit, the workers ring up my bag of groceries and I gawk at the price, thinking, "that's it?!" If only there were a store closer to Brown's campus... I'm a California transplant and we love Trader Joe's and we're delighted that there was one in Rhode Island! Same layout and great prices. Been there a half a dozen times and I feel a little different about this location. There is not that great service that I was accustomed to back in Cali. For the most part the crew there seems entitled and not overly friendly. Maybe I was spoiled but the sample person always ignores the customers and I always get a forced greeting in the checkstand. It's a nice busy little joint but it's definitely not my cup of tea. They don't have a good spice selection at all and that is a big thing I shop for when planning a meal. The food is kind of expensive for what you get. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Not many options for meat though went there for chicken breast they didn't have any so I came home with a beef roast but I do love that they have the baby colored potatoes and the beef bone broth. Not many options for bread . I will most likely not return to be honest. If you don't have a family and are only shopping for yourself then this place is for you. They also give you free cheese and crackers. The fruit selection was great and I was excited because my 2 year old and my huslove their fruit. When I got home I was extremely mad to find moldy strawberries in the midfield the pack and then the blueberries where just as bad. read more

I love going to Trader Joe's when I'm in the neighborhood where there is a Trader Joes! I truly wish there was one closer to Fall river instead of having to go to East Greenwich Rhode Island or towards Boston to shop at a Trader Joe's! So I make it a treat when I see one to stop in and do some shopping and thank goodness I have a freezer so I can stock up in case it'll be a long time before I can go again. I think they have the best honey Cheerios and I love the chocolate covered almonds with sugar and sea-salt and of course their vegetarian wontons or potstickers. They have a lovely selection of organic vegetables and fruits in a nice cheese section also can never pass up the apricot white sharp cheddar cheese Plus you have to get the good edamame crackers or the Rosemary cranberry crackers to go with the cheese. If you're searching for a great bottle of wine they have a wonderful selection and very nicely priced too. So when you see your Trader Joe's, pull over and go in!!! read more

Very nice Trader Joe's with lots of space. I was especially excited to discover that they have a really nice selection of skin care products here, unlike the Trader Joe's that I normally frequent in Boston. I was so psyched that they carried the Rose Water Facial Mist I'd been looking for! When we visited on Sunday they were offering a nice selection of cheese for sampling as well as coffee. The only drawback of this location is that there is no alcohol. Aisles are nice and wide, however, unlike the ultra cramped location on Boylston St in Boston. read more

I'm not a frequent flier here, but have been here about a half-dozen times over the past few years, so it's about time to add my impressions of Trader Joe's on Yelp. Initially, I was torn between whether I should give them three or four stars, but then I realized: A) I can't really compare them to other supermarkets, because they are quasi-unique for a chain; and B) They are the only Trader Joe's in this small state, so they deserve props for that. Therefore, I have to give them four stars, and rightfully so, I believe. I would not do the bulk of my grocery shopping here. For one thing, they lack a deli (although they do sell pre-packaged sliced meats). Also, they lack seafood and butcher counters, although you can certainly get those items pre-packaged too. And, if you're looking for brand names, fuggedaboutit! They sell mainly their store brand. Nevertheless, I think Trader Joe's really shines in three areas: frozen foods (both selection and quality); snack foods; and floral. There is a large variety of frozen foods, both raw ingredients and full meals, and prices seem reasonable for the quality. TJ's also has some creative snacks that you won't find elsewhere; some of their cookies are downright addictive and should come with a warning label! And prices for plants and cut flowers are surprisingly affordable, according to my wife. Why I considered giving them three stars has nothing to do with the products they sell, but rather, the shopping 'experience'. Probably much of the reason I don't frequent TJ's is that I try to avoid Bald Hill Road due to the traffic. Furthermore, TJ's is located in a large plaza, so the parking lot is chaotic. Finally, the store is fairly small, but it's almost always busy, so I experience mild claustrophobia - or, at the very least, sensory overload. Another negative for me (yesterday's visit really proved this) is that toddlers often run amok in the store. They have tiny kids' shopping carts (which another reviewer thought was a bad idea, and I agree). I was perusing the packaged deli meat section when a toddler somehow flipped his cart over and fell to the floor right next to me, and then proceeded to cry as he hugged his momma's thighs. Yikes - too much drama! Then, when I went to checkout, a cashier had to (gently) scold two toddlers blocking a checkout lane as they were gawking at something on a low display. Don't get me wrong - I don't hate kids - but please, parents, keep 'em under control, and please, Trader Joe's, get rid of the toy carts! To end on a positive note, the employees at Trader Joe's are friendly and upbeat, if a bit quirky, and there are never long checkout lines, because they will call more employees to the front before that happens. read more

Amazed by how kind, calm and considerate the entire staff was! The greeter was very polite and friendly. When I couldn't find an item and asked a staff member if he knew where it was (he was in the middle of stocking) without hesitation he stopped what he was doing and safely walked me right to the item. The cashier was also very polite/kind. The most pleasant shopping experience I've had since Covid-19 began. Go Trader Joe's!! read more

Being the only Trader Joe's in RI, this place is a god send. I'm from SoCal, and this place is a little reminder of home. Where else can you get such classics as speculoos cookie butter, made in Mexico tamales, and 100% kona coffee? Don't forget the vast frozen food section with Korean bibimbap, kung pao chicken, garlic naan, dim sum, and mochi ice cream! You better act fast though, a lot of the goodies tend to be short on stock. They also have fresh produce, meat, dairy, and a ton of dried goods. TJ's is my favourite grocer! Lots of great finds that you cannot get at any regular store. Another thing that really sets TJ's apart is the customer service. As soon as the queues start filling up, the teammates come up to assist- you'll never stand in line for more than a few minutes. Unfortunately, due to RI law, this location does not sell alcohol. :( The best time to come to TJ's is during the week when everyone is at work. I would give 0 stars. Great store but disgusting employees. I've never had so many problems at any other stores with employees as I do here. And I've been in the customer service industry for 4 years!!! The tall man who was wiping carts at the entrance told me I can't come in because my mask is too thin and it wasn't! I said I don't have any other one and he basically denied service to me and said I can't be in the store. Told me to go to the counter where all the managers sit and don't do anything but talk about Dunkin Donuts coffee and gossip. I asked them I can't be in the store with the mask that I have on? And they said yes you can. I said your guy over there told me I can't and they said ohh and started looking for a mask to give me. After they couldn't find a mask to give me, they all started staring at me like I was a thief or a criminal. The guy that was wiping down the carts came over to but in and all of them stared at me for no reason in silence just waiting for me to leave. I've never in my life experiences this.. I thought California was bad. No in this little state, those employees smoke Boston cigarettes and drink coffee for a living. What do you expect. Shame! read more

First things first: I've been a New Yorker and a San Diegan. What does that have to do with a review of the Warwick Trader Joe's? Well... a lot, actually. It means my standards for TJ's are high, as both SD and NYC were full-boat, liquor-licensed, big-ass stores with everything one could need for household and kitchen provisioning. That said... this TJ's has many pluses. They have a fabulous frozen-food section, and their peanut butter granola bars are the tits. Selves are always fully stocked, and they carry the TJ's staples (such as the vodka pasta sauce, gruyere-onion-pancetta flatbread, and various snack chips) I've come to know an love. The staff? Super friendly, as usual. I don't know what they're doing at TJ's to create such a happy work place, but I hope they keep on doin' it, cuz they're doin' it well. My complaints? The produce leaves something to be desired, and the meats are only so-so. Other than that, I'm a fan. Yay. read more

All you will hear is the staff members calling to each other, "Help on the way." or "Man overboard!" Quite refreshing & non-intrusive. 2) They keep an immaculate, incredibly well organized store - Including a nice assortment of toiletries, supplements/vitamins, protein powders (even organic hemp) and several fine pet products too. 3) They've got the most delicious, naturally sweet, preservative-free coconut milk for only .99 a can. Great for those who are dairy-free. Can be used straight or you can add it to an equal part of spring water, add stevia or honey, some cinnamon and you've a got a fantastic milk for your coffee or tea. To *die for* in smoothies too! 4) There is something for everyone: Vegans, vegetarians, some gluten-free items, and an incredible assortment of fresh & frozen cakes, pies and other specialty desserts only available at Trader Joe's. 5) You'll find a very big nut and dried fruit section...both raw, roasted, conventional and organic. Well, at Trader Joe's, there is no *conveyor belt*! The cashier takes your things OUT of the carriage for you and you are actually allowed to pay for and bag your things in peace! This system forces the normally *rude* people to stay out of the way until you are done. What a novelty! I don't know what their initial intention was in setting up this system, but it works. 8) You will ALWAYS find many lines open at once, even when it's super crowded, you will GET out FAST! Plus, it's conveniently located on RT. 2 in Warwick, so plenty of other shopping trips can be made to others stores if you wish. Parking is fantastic also...I always find a spot, even when it's super crowded, since you can always just walk a shot ways. 9) The floral section is lovely, fresh, and very affordable, plus you can pick up a card for only .99 -- great in a pinch! 10) Coffee lovers will rejoice...stellar selection and some organic roasts too. 11) Finding what you need and getting out in a timely manner is actually possible here! Why? They've laid out this store to be quite shopper-friendly. They do not bombard the aisles with clutter and displays like many stores do.
