I visit this location as well as others in the area and while it's definitely high volume, they manage it pretty well. The store is usually well stocked, and the staff is always friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They tend to open plenty of registers when it gets busy, which keeps the lines moving. The parking lot can get a little crazy at peak times, but overall this location is good. read more

No expiration dates on most items so many turn out to be stale, old, and awful. But when the house brands are fresh, many items taste great. No self-checkout lanes, so clerks will handle your purchases and thus spread germs. And take much longer than self-checkouts. Gorgeous store, shopping center, and neighborhood. My favorite products: Frozen mandarin orange chicken. Frozen BBQ teriyaki chicken. Frozen hash browns. Frozen mozzarella sticks. Frozen battered fish nuggets. Mini ice cream cones. Dark chocolate peanut butter cups. Plus many others! Everything is wonderful except the lack of expiration dates and no self-checkout lanes, for which two stars are removed. read more

I love Trader Joe's and usually visit their Ardmore location but this one is closer to me now so I've been coming here. This location is a lot smaller than the other TJs I mentioned, but the same quality of service and products across the board. I wouldn't suggest coming here on the weekends because it's anxiety city lol too many people and not enough space; plus they are likely to run out of an item you want because of the high volume of traffic. I recently went here around 6pm on a Monday and was able to find everything I needed, there wasn't as many people so I was able to take my time and overall had the best experience I've had at this location yet. The staff is always pleasant and willing to help you find something or answer any questions. I would highly recommend checking out during the week if you have the time, or coming here instead of your usually grocery store to switch things up as they have a lot of TJ brand specific items that you can't find in those stores. My only complaint would probably be the parking--It always sucks... so plan your trip accordingly. read more

Trader Joe's has always been a dream to shop at, but the way that they've continued to handle the pandemic is amazing. Whatever special training they've given staff to be consistently curteous and friendly is just...super impressive. And even with an early afternoon line today on a Monday that was, say, 14ish people deep, it went super fast bc the man wiping the carts kept up conversation with the folks in line and presumably bc the inside of the store is always beyond organized. I know that there are several sort of organic/specialty stores in the area, but between the prices, frozen organic/international fast food alternatives and customer service...ya can't really go wrong at the Abington/Jenkintown location. read more

This is by far the best specialized grocery store ever! Since the pandemic, and if there is a long line to get in, they have an associate come around and give out bottled cold water. Who does that? In the beginning of the pandemic, they also gave out free bouquet of flowers to each customer. They really know how to put a smile on a customer's face. They always have the freshest foods and have a wide variety of frozen foods that you just want to buy everything! You must visit a Trader Joe's in your area asap! read more

I have not written a Yelp review in nearly two years. But, I have decided I must step away from this semi-retirement, to sing the praises of the Jenkintown Trader Joe's, where I visited today (as I have several times over the past months)! First of all, it's Trader Joe's! So, there's that. But, in the current pandemic situation, the crew here has really gone above and beyond what is expected. The fine folks here continue to take measures to keep their customers safe--by ensuring all wear masks, and adhere to distancing guidelines, and not too many are sharing space within the store at any given time. And, the crew manages to stay sane and friendly and helpful through this all. And, as at least one other reviewer has pointed out, they even hand out water to the customers waiting in line to enter the store. I have always been a Trader Joe's fan. But, I hope the crew at this particular Trader Joe's knows the appreciation and respect they are showing their customers is coming right back at them. [Plus! The folks who bag the groceries separate out the wet frozen and fridged stuff from the dry pantry stuff. That on its own is worth five stars!] read more

I am really not trying to be a jerk. I am a mask supporter. I believe in science. I was wearing my mask. Got in my car and removed it. Jumped out to grab a few things and before I got to the steps I realized I left it in the car. Of course, I have the lady handing out the carts lectured me terribly. Before I had the chance to grab it. She called me out in front of other customers. I was NEVER close to any patrons. Told me how dangerous I was acting. Even though it was an honest mistake. Just screwed up my Trader Joe's experience. I would NEVER enter a store without a mask. I even carry my own wipes. But to be scolded by some chick mad at the world is now pissing me off. I will be sure to tell my FB group about this experience. This Trader Joe's Heaux is not happy. *also I noticed when checking out, the cashier told me I was moving around too much for him. Note: 309 is friendly and I can bag my own things with a pleasant conversation. These people obviously had a bad day which is not characteristic of this store. Trader Joe's - Bill - Grocery Near Me - Jenkintown, Pennsylvania

Over the years, I've transitioned almost all of my grocery buying to this Trader Joe's from other options. Despite this being a smallish and always busy store, here's why. I care about what I eat, read ingredients lists, and virtually all of the items on the shelves in this place avoid the bad stuff...no artificial colors, no artificial flavors, no chemical preservatives, no artificial sweeteners etc. Because most items are alsoTrader Joe's brand, the store can be smaller because there aren't a dozen brands of ketchup, only one, theirs. The store clearly makes an effort to stay constantly organized and stocked, and all of their employees seem friendly and genuinely interested in helping you if you need it. They don't have self check out (which I vastly prefer) like most modern supermarkets, but I've found that even when they are super busy, I am in and out of here in a surprisingly quick amount of time. The biggest negative is the parking lot. It is a long, super narrow layout, with one way in, and one way out. The parking lot situation makes me wish they would've relocated to the space where the nearby Ross is when that was vacant, or the currently vacant Stein Mart location, but I guess they may be stuck in a lease where they are. I'll live with it and keep coming here. read more

I live in the city and come out of my way to shop at this Trader Joe's! Sure, on the weekends and after school/work it's going to be crowded, but that's anywhere. If you can sneak here before work, during a weekday the shopping experience is so incredibly enjoyable!! You'll have the place all to yourself! I don't get that in the city anywhere! Everybody here is always super friendly and willing to help out. If you don't see something on the shelf you normally get, just ask they're always willing to check in the back! Any question about anything...they're there for you! The Trader Joe's brand is fantastic! They have all your favorite items usually at a more reasonable price point than major companies and equally delish, if not more so! I tend not to do all of my shopping here, but there are some things I always get only here: Sunflower Butter. Trail Mix packets. Tabouli Cinnamon alphabet cookies Whole wheat cous cous Trader Joe's Baked tofu Cauliflower rice Brussels diced and pre-seasoned Seaweed snacks ...to name just a few. Oh, and I actually get my face wash here! Shhh! It's tea tree oil, vegan and not tested on animals. It's $7 and I've been using it religiously for years! It's the only place I've ever seen it! The frozen section is on point! The tastings are fab! They have a section of gluten free baked goods and the entire place is very vegan friendly! Clearly marked kosher, vegan and organic labeling! This is THE best place for entertaining! They just lay things out for you. The holidays are always fun here! Grab their flyer for recipes and entertaining ideas! Their frozen apps, cheeses and spreads are all amazing! Can't go wrong with any of them! Add some of their amazing dark chocolate covered...anything and some of their gorgeous, reasonably priced, fresh bouquets and you're set! Seriously, make it a point to stop here for your holiday gatherings!! Also snag the Henry David golden pear box set. They are the BEST pears in the entire world!! It makes for a lovely gift! This Trader Joes is sooo disappointing. It was tiny, and didn't have much to choose from. the whole store only consisted of 5 aisles. The decor is corny, and very staged. Didn't have much of a selection of anything, and most surprising not much of a selection in fresh produce. I love Trader Joe's more than most grocery stores, after all they've got great selections or organic meat, unusual cheese, interesting vegan products and delicious baked goods. Plus they have a great deal of decent prepackaged foods (i.e. samosas, tamales, etc) that don't taste like cardboard! That being said, this is the store I most often shop at and it is terrible. Watch as yuppies and hipsters fight over the last flourless cake. Hear the screams of agitated children. Get hit by carts a million times as you try to navigate down the narrow aisles. It is packed to the gills on the weekends with people, all of whom are overwhelmed and rude because of it. It's something you have to see to believe, and their parking lot is a cluster in and of itself. I guess I've got nothing to complain about because I'm just one of the teaming hordes on Sunday, but my suggestion to them is to move into a much larger facility to accommodate their huge customer base. This place fills me with fear. Sure, it's just a grocery store and all, but good lord, the crowds, the mayhem and the expectation that I will actually have to COOK something that is purchased there scares the pants off of me. Every time I go I have a mild panic attack. People get insane to reach those TJ brand frozen organic raspberries or the Greek yogurt and will practically mow you down with a cart to get there. So count me out, Trader Joe's. I think everyone who works there is delightful, and you've gotta love a place that has such a great selection of yummy, organic, nicely priced products. But it freaks me out too much to shop there, so look for me sitting in the car while the rest of my family is inside. Or even better yet, I'll stay home. That way there will be much less of a chance I'll have a showdown with a crazy foodie in the parking lot. read more

I hit this store up about once a week for my weekly needs. The people who work here are super friendly and it's always a treat. Some of my favorite TJ's items: tea tree body wash (smells so sweet), pine litter (cheaper than any other brand!), gnocchi alla sorrenta (7 minutes to cook a delicious authentic meal) and crab cakes (where else can you find two crab cakes for 3 bucks?) I just wish PA didn't have such stupid liquor laws, because we are missing out on some great wine deals here! The other hidden gem at TJ's: the flowers. I purchased 10 bouquets to incorporate into my table settings here the day before my wedding. I absolutely love gerber daisies, and this was the spot where I found a ton of them for a very reasonable price. read more

I fudging love Trader Joe's. Yes. I am that person. It makes me sad that it's not closer (a lot closer) to my house, but once in awhile I do make the trip up to Jenkintown. Their prices are fair for the products they offer and they have some sweet finds. I actually find some things cheaper there than I do at other grocery stores, and they're definitely cheaper than other health food stores. The staff is extremely friendly. However, I did notice that the crowd shopping there can be a little on the rudeish side. It's not the fault of the establishment though...but I did notice a huge lack of "please," "thank you," and "excuse me." Yes, I am the manner police. Other than that though, awesome place to check out. It's small inside and can get rather busy, but it's worth visiting. read more

This TJ is pretty good, and easy enough to get to in the Philly 'burbs. Staff is friendly and helpful. Good selection of products, although the produce selection is a bit small, and they seem to run out of a lot of their meat and poultry products quickly. Try to avoid going here during prime weekday afternoon hours and anytime on the weekend, this place is crawling with nasty older people and moms with their kids, and they can't be bothered to move themselves or their carts when asked nicely. read more

Customer service is awesome here. For a store with only like 4 or 5 isles, they sure cram a whole lot in there, every inch of the store is covered, there's even shelves where you wouldn't expect them. They also have a lot of AWESOME frozen meals, and the coolest reusable bags I've seen yet. But it's always wicked crowded when I go (imagine the gift shop/photo area after you get off a roller coaster), their prices are a bit on the steep side for some items (though so far it's been worth it), and the music is "cringe-worthy." So far, I've never been able to complete a shopping list here, they are always just a few items short. Because of this and their sometimes high prices, I shop here for on occasion for meat and sale items, and keep the produce for Whole Foods, which are cheaper and the bulk sections let you get exactly what you need. read more

Tip #1 - it's hidden next to the Raymour and Flannigan - we drove past it 4 times!! Tip #2 - it's a bit small store, so go when it's not crowded if you can - weekdays - or when people are out of town. That said, I guess I've never experienced a 'large' Trader Joe's because unlike other reviewers, I had no problem with the size. The pros: *Helpful, courteous staff *close to Willow Grove (would love to see one in Willow Grove) *Trader Joe's variety and pricing *Easily accessible from public transportation The cons: *The parking is a nightmare *No Wi-Fi in the store *Location is inconvenient if you're driving to the store and is quite a hassle with this location's parking setup *This store's products on the shelves do not always match its labeling. I like getting food-related-stuff here. But here is the good and bad (from my perspective): Good: Plenty of healthy-eating options. Vegetarians can find lots of interesting stuff here. I am addicted to the "identity crisis tortilla chips"!! And the European style yogurt! Bad: They dont have gallon-size water thingamajigs anymore (thumbs down), they often run out of many things that I usually buy (such as jumbo raisins, organic pita bread, etc); the choice of fruit is pitiful You can barely get bananas and oranges..... The store is tiny and almost always overcrowded, etc. For the above "bad" reasons, I will have to go elsewhere to get stuff: Option 1: Whole Foods is next door, but cant afford it with the way my 401K's are going.... Option 2: Giant Foods is a mile away...though it is the ghetto Giant...the better one is about 3 miles away. Option 3: Acme market about a mile away....but is overpriced, and I cant find most stuff I want. The "to-go" food at Acme sucks!! dont even bother. Overall Trader Joes is a reasonable place. But, unless they keep stocking stuff (and get that gallon size water bacK), its just extra work for me. Yes, as Carrie E mentioned below, you better be careful here...you might just get run over by someone who is in a hurry to get in. I dont know why people want to buy all the food in the world at the same time??? People, there is plenty of food in America. We are not starving (yet!). read more

I am a Trader Joe's machine. I go on off hours, and am out my door, though the store, and back in under an hour (if I drive). I know exactly what I want and where it's located. And there is a lot I want. From goats milk brie to organic tofu and tempeh, frozen berries and nonfat plain yogurt, and those delicious wheat flour breaded fake chicken nuggets (yeah, I know, when I cook it's healthy) Trader Joe's has got my back. And the prices are more reasonable than most places in the city. My only beef is that there is just one city location, and it's not very large. During peak hours the aisle are literally filled with the checkout LINES, and during non peak hours, they are often out of at least one thing I can in for. I've been told by employees before that the company only likes to put one location in each city, to keep up demand and "mom and pop" feel, but for the love of God, we need a TJs in West Philly. read more

Great service - nice people. Friday the check out guy asked if i found everything i wanted and i said no and told him the 3 things they were out of. The guy said he would be glad to have the person responsible flogged before me immediately. I replied that no one at the store was responsible - with a small store and a huge volume selling great products for a great price what could one expect. The fellows eyes opened and he said it was nice to deal with a customer who understood. Empowered I went on "I would, however take considerable pleasure in observing the person from HQ in California or wherever who chose this tiny location for Jenkintown when Berwin and North Wales and Marleton have such nice big stores". Clearly the guy was out of his league being called on the carpet for some person in HQ's blunder - although the entire conversation was in a nice key - he said that when the store opened (Jenkintown) the policy was to open small stores. I did not get huffy but hey guess what? The Berwin store is older then the Jenkintown store! That sums it all up. Great products great prices and they usually have what you want in stock. if you dont like something they will exchange it right away. When there are problems they deal with them in a fair and easy fashion. The parking lot is very crowded and the store is just like shopping in Manhattan. The people are great and make it all work. If they had stuff in stock I would give 5 stars. Oh and they should also bring back the smoked salmon pieces that they discontinued. read more

this location flows better.. it's a bit bigger than the one in CC philly.. and the people here know how to move and shop in that trader joes style where in which they are not in your way the entire time.. I've never run into the problem here where the items I want are hit or miss if they'll actually be in stock.. I don't see lots of empty spaces like the other location and that I like.. I really like this place. It's small, but I've never see it overly crowded and all the workers are smiling and happy. Prices are on the cheap too compared to Whole Foods and The Fresh Market. I have never in my 4 years of shopping here had a problem with the size of this store, crowding, or stock. I typically buy a few things at a time and use a basket as opposed to a cart, so that could be one reason. Yeah, I guess it gets busy, but everyone has been polite to me when pursuing the shelves. I only once could not find what I was looking for a left my contact info for when it came back in stock and was notified the next day that it was in. The parking lot on the other hand needs a yelp page all its own because it's a creature all its own. read more

My favorite TJ location of course b/c they've never been out of what I came for, of course this mostly depends on when you are shopping. I love the staff here, since I shop the same times usually, I am always sure to run into the same TJ workers. Everyone's very helpful and friendly, I've tried some of the best foods thanks to their suggestions. TJ has awesome everything! From the florals to the frozen section down to the bath & body, at Trader Joe's you simply cannot go wrong and always free samples to taste as you manuvere through the tight aisles. Yes, it's super cramped but can be a fun experience with the right crowd. The parking lot gets crazy but there's not much that should deter you from visiting TJ's place. I love trader joes I really do, and this one isn't necessarily bad, the staff rocks and is super friendly but the store has some downsides. Yes I went here on a Sunday afternoon, yes I expected it to be crowded, but I didn't expect it to look like a major blizzard or hurricane was due to hit any minute! They were out of some serious essentials, and I can imagine it's hard to restock as frequently as they need to with how busy the store is, but to run out of oatmeal when it's cold outside? You're killingggg meeeee TJ's. Otherwise a couple of other items they were running low on and I found everything I needed. When I asked where the oatmeal was the employees were nothing but polite. So overall a good experience, but I'm salty I had to drive to another grocery store just to get a box of oatmeal. read more

I really like Trader Joe's. I don't shop at this particular location very often, but I have been here before. It is a relatively cramped store, and tends to be unpleasantly busy when I visit it, but I think that's an artifact of the fact that I tend to visit on weekends--Trader Joe's everywhere seem to be like a zoo on weekends. The trader joe's selection is pretty much the same in every store, so I'll be brief: Epic wins: CHEESE. Wins: nuts, canned seafood, random canned things like olives, olive oil, Clif bars, chocolate. Loses: frozen seafood, tea. Take-it-or-leave-it: produce, milk and dairy. That's my opinion. Nowadays, it is cheese that brings me in the door, cheese that keeps me as a customer. Nuts help a lot too. Mmm...nuts. The one thing that I think is really crappy about this store in particular is the style of development that it is located within. It's about as car-oriented as it gets. Nearby is the pleasant, walkable community of Jenkintown and this place is pretty much out of normal walking distance--and it's not only far from the population centers, but its set way back from the road, and there's no convenient pedestrian path to it, just walking along parking lots. The design, for being as car-oriented as it is, is even inconvenient to cars. There's no way to drive down to connect with the other parking lots, you need to drive way out and around. The intersection with the driveway just before getting out to 611 is awkward and a bit unsafe...it would be better if there were more separation to allow safer turns onto the other driveway to reach the other parts of the parking lot. The whole development this store is located in is such an epic fail in terms of sustainable design that I am docking this store one star for that alone. read more

I was taking with another customer about a price that wasn't clear to us and an associate approached with the price check. This level of service is the standard I rarely have to ask for help because I'm approached in a manner that is not pushy but sincere. Beware the parking lot! It is one-way, even though it's not marked. It seems at every Trader Joe's I visit, the parking lot traffic clearly foreshadows the shopping buggy traffic. Often, once people are out of their cars, they'll be nicer face-to-face. But at Trader Joe's, it's a free for all inside and out. I can't blame my fellow shoppers. If there's only one packet left of Meatless Meatballs, you better believe I'll block you from picking them up. Don't even get me started on the Bolivian Blend organic fair trade coffee. Trader Joe's is famous for no longer carrying favorites, but we seem to have hit a good streak lately with the high-protein tofu, garlic chipotle salsa, low-fat string cheese, and reduced guilt kale and greek yogurt dip.
