I came here while visiting my family member in Stamford and I'm so glad i came here. They had a big parking lot and the store was not that crowded for a Sunday which I was grateful for. I would definitely recommend this store. The staff was nice and accommodating. They had lots of merchandise in stock and the store was very organized. The store is very nice and clean and staff is very helpful. I had to ask a manager for help because this ridiculous white tall skinny guy with long face in mid 30's harassed me because I was wearing a mask, after speaking with manager it made me feel better they care for these incidents and they will watch out if it happens again... watch out for this creep that preys on small women so he can feel like a "man". Is good to know management won't tolerate this and will be proactive to maintain harmony in the store. read more

Store was laid out different than the Massachusetts stores. So I had a hard time finding stuff. No wine. Apparently it is not legal to sell wine in grocery stores in Connecticut. So I can't fault the store for that. read more

Just shopped there in Darien, CT. Have not been there for quite a while. I was impressed with variety and even more with staff. If they saw me looking around someone came over and asked if they could help me find item. Prices are good and staff is super. I brought cart back as I usually do, but had a long walk back to car. A staff member made sure I navigated traffic back to car since it was so busy. As a senior this was very much appreciated. They have a new happy customer. read more

I'm pretty familiar with Trader Joe's, having grown up with them in California. They're all pretty good, but not necessarily a place where you can shop as your daily grocery store, unless most of your cooking involves heating premade foods (which is a total valid option, just not mine.) One of the reasons to come to TJ's is for their special holiday stuff. I was here around Christmas, to check out some of their offerings, and they had a great selection of Christmasy-themed foods, great to stuff into people's stockings. Overall, the store is small, but pretty well organized, and the staff is friendly, even during the busy Christmastime. I'd go back if I was in the area. read more

Being of Hispanic descent, I couldn't relate very well to a lot of what I saw in Trader Joe's the first time I went in there. =oP I've gone there literally about three times over a few years but something REALLY struck me during my last visit. It was a cold weekday evening and as we walked from the car to the store, some woman pushing a cart said hello as she walked past us. New to the gluten free world, we were on a quest to see what was available. An employee that was handing out samples was VERY helpful when we asked her about snacks and took time out to explain things to us and answered our questions as well. At another point in our visit, someone told us they had a list of gluten free items at the front desk. The woman that was pushing the cart was (presumably) some sort of manager of the store. A manager that also collects the shopping carts! I could be wrong but that's what I saw and what I want to believe. haha She gave us the list and walked around the store with us, pointing out snacks and other items we asked about. She showed us gluten free cookies among other things, and moved on to other store matters. I don't recall EXACTLY how it happened, but she came looking for us as we continued to shop to say someone overheard us talking about the cookies. She had an open bag of the cookies and offered one for us to sample! She then offered the remaining cookies to nearby customers that snapped them up. I was astounded by my visit. I have difficulties in accepting poor customer service and believe that ESPECIALLY in THIS day and age where everything is so bad, if people decide to spend money at your establishment when they could go to a number of other places, it should mean something to you and it should be appreciated. I've been places where people finish texting before acknowledging me. I've been places where employees talk about personal things right in front of me as if I didn't exist. I've had people start ringing things up without saying a word to me other than the total. It's disgusting. My experience at Trader Joe's brought to mind a saying (something along the lines of): 'You may not remember what someone said but you'll remember how they made you feel.' read more

I am sorry but this town is weird. I learned that many years ago working as a nanny in this town. Just spend a day at the Darien Country Club - oh yeah, I worked there too - then you'll see what I mean. I am sorry that I now offended anyone who lives in Darien, I know anyone reading this is the exception, but it is a long standing joke - the ladies in this town- I've had for years with others when they always are out in the town and come back and say- 'oh wow, you're right'. I wonder if they ever smile at anyone? Anyway.. I've gotta get past the look-alike snobs in too-big suvs, the nasty looks and then this store is okay- because the workers are nice (especially the sample lady), but the store is smaller and feels more disorganized than most. And give yourself plenty of space before you take a left in from the Post Rd. because the clueless suvs will hold up traffic and leave you there in the main road just waiting to get hit. Still, TJs is always a fun stop, though some of his products lately have changed in quality. read more

The more I travel I'm finding that I love TJ's even more for their consistency across the chain... I guess that's what comes of disallowing franchisees. This specific one had an adorable assortment of spring bulbs on sale as we walked in on a chilly March morning. All the favorites in the aisles including a few extra treats for Easter. Clean, friendly, and some of the best pre-made food you can buy! Definitely a must-visit for anyone who has one in their area. read more

I go to Trader Joe's because it has lower prices compared to WF. However I'm constantly disappointed. They barely have variety, and their fruit and produce are constantly moldy. I have to drive further to WF to get my fruit and produce. I decided I needed to spend less money today and went to Trader Joe's and got my fruit there and skimmed it thinking it was fine, but no I come home to see it's covered in mold. To say I am obsessed with Trader Joe's stores would be putting it mildly. I love everything about it - the fresh produce, prepared foods, assortment of easily cookable/not very screw up-able partially homemade kits (hello! reduced fat brownies). However, the Darien location continues to disappoint me. The store is really so small. With such a huge Whole Foods in town and few other grocery options, you'd think Trader Joe's could upgrade to a location that has more than 3 aisles?! Hardly enough room for patrons even if we were all using the baby shopping carts! On the plus side, the staff is the typical Trader Joey happy and they have super cute Darien-themed mural on the wall behind the check out. I was recently in the TJ's in Danbury and was giddy with excitement to find out it was actually a normal sized store. Definitely check out Trader Joe's, just not this one! read more

I like this Trader Joe's, but I wish there was more inside. I do feel this location is lacking in some of the Trader Joe's products like their new pea protein and some other items I have seen. Other than that this place is well organized, the staff were helpful and knew where the items I asked about were. I would say parking can be tricky. I was lucky and got a spot pretty quickly, but I did have to wait for it. I think it's worth it though. Trader Joe's has great prices and good options. I picked up some goats cheese and some other snacks. I did not even know they had that! I highly recommend coming to a Trader Joe's location, just know that there is a lot of parking spaces they are just usually taken. read more

A refreshing shopping experience. The staff are always ready to answer a question or tell you about a product they carry. They all know their products. OMG!!! The customer service is night and day!!! I needed information for pumpkin puree which is so popular for this time of the year. I wasn't able to find any advertised price information in both Stop & Shop and ShopRite flyers so I called both local locations. Instead of entering the information quickly, they transferred me where I waited 10 minutes to get an answer. I called Trader Joe's, night and day I say!!! The gentleman on the other end said, "Sure let me enter it and its $1.99 for a 15oz can. And we're getting daily shipments in." I was off the phone in 3 minutes. Amazing!!! read more

A Lesser Trader Joe's Location Too small a store. Inadequate parking, which seems to be a Trader Joe's hallmark. My main complaint is that the fruit and vegetables are often old. Just opened some lettuce that is all wilted. Berries are sometime moldy. You just don't find that at good supermarkets. The place is busy, this shouldn't be. read more

They have excellent customer service, probably the best around. I went in there and asked them if they could get frozen organic spinach, they had regular but not organic. The told me that they would see what they could do. A week later, they had it in stock. Sometimes they run out of items, which can be frustrating, but they will offer to hold some for you when it comes in the next day. Too many grumpy old men work here. They are like social butterflies, seem friendly, however they do stupid stuff, like overpack your bags so you can hardly lift them out of the cart once you get to your car. I've had 3 different grumpy guys recently. This last one was pretty rude too. I decided not to buy a candy bar I had put in the cart, so I put it where the other candy was on the end of the cash area. Well this guy makes a big deal of that - rings the bell over and over, then when no-one responded to that (perhaps they are onto him making something out of nothing), he threw it through the air to the next cashier. That person dropped it, so now it wound up smashed up and wiping the floor. I think it was designed to embarrass me, but why???? They're rude and incompetent. read more

Only 3 stars as this store is really lacking in design, no one really thought about customer flow in here, especially when you don't shop here like you would in a regular market. Trader Joe's is the cats pajamas of fresh unique grocery store. I prefer Trader Joes to almost all food shopping establishments. Everything they have is delicous. There is not one thing that I have bought there that I haven't liked and enjoyed. Since I'm living in Greenwich and not Darien for a short period of time I have been going to whole foods instead and I must say I really don't care for whole foods they are very pricey. At least trader joes is reasonable. Anyway, I very much miss trader joes and go out of my way to go there. Its just a great place. Great service, fresh food, tastey food, its all great. read more

How can you not love TJ's? As some other reviewers have noted, the service at this store is outstanding. In this day and age, to find a retail establishment where the employees go out of their way to help you is a rarity. If the checkout lines get a little long, the bell rings and they open another one right away...or the manager jumps on a register and starts ringing you up. This seems to be a smaller TJ's and while they may not have a large selection of absolutely *everything* you're looking for, they have enough eclectic items to make every trip there a treasure hunt. The whole family loves the TJ's-labeled products as well, including my gluten-free daughter. And compared to any other store in the area, they offer incredible value. This is a pretty good Trader Joe's location. It's quite small, but carries a lot of the usual stuff. The salespeople here have always been super helpful to me when I've been here. However, with Whole Foods in Greenwich, I don't come here as much as I used to because Whole Foods has EVERYTHING and this place is somewhat limited in their selection. read more

This place makes me happier than a midget at a mini-skirt convention. Small short sweet,but its got all you need and some. I love how I get to grind my own coffe e to perfection , but be careful not to use the very fine setting or expresso....when you add boiling water it kinda comes out like Mudd pie, so make sure its more coarse. I love Trader Joe's. The products are fresh, there's a great variety, and service is significantly better than normal grocery stores. The prices are also pretty good given how much of the food is organic or otherwise specialty. That being said, I had to deduct a star for how small this one is, and how difficult it can be to park. I'm probably spoiled from shopping in the city, but there are definitely products I can't find here. They've got all the staples, but the frozen food section in particular doesn't have everything, so I often have to stop by Whole Foods on the way back to I-95 anyway. Also, parking can be a nightmare on the weekends. Side note: the sign telling kids to tell the cashier where they saw "Dairy-Anne" makes me laugh every time. read more

This store is magnificent. The workers are friendly and helpful and they will leave what they're doing to bring you to what you're looking for! The products are good, too! I love the coffee and using the grinder there is perfect, their coffee is the only one I really love. And, you can try new products without fear, because if you don't like it, they will refund your money ~ no questions asked. Plus, the prices are usually better than other supermarkets.
