Love this place!! Best service in town. They are never bothered when you ask them to check stock on something or point out the gluten-free options. Check out is always nice because they talk to you and ask how your day is going. Do I expect this? No way! But it's a nice gesture nonetheless. It's very organized and there's so many dinner possibilities! Great selection, quality produce, meats and the vanilla bean cake is to die for! ...Don't forget the Tea Tree Shampoo or the chocolate covered coconut bites, either! I can go on and on!! Always busy. I tend to get annoyed by how employees are always in the way restocking, though I suppose it helps keep merchandise fresh. It would be nice if they were less in the way trying to make a show of their stocking. We don't care. What's odd given all the restocking is recently they were out of three items I needed: white flour and a few more. Their produce tends to go bad quickly. I suppose that's good if you eat it quickly and buy multiple times a week--it's a sign of fresh. But I like my produce to last a tad longer so don't buy it here anymore. Meh. I refuse to hide my love for TJ. I love his snacks, his 96/4 hamburger and when I am feeling brave, his cookies. (Especially the white chocolate cranberry dunker stick things). I have to be brave to eat them, because they're not gluten free and they're ADDICTING! (I'm a total cookie monster!) This particular TJ's has a big, open parking lot. That is a HUGE PLUS. Normally they are teeny and cramped, filled with not so attentive drivers. The driving personality is still the same here, but at least you can give them a wider berth and make it out alive! It's the yuppiest, ur, I mean yummiest place to shop in Camarillo. When I shop here, I feel like I'm on a vacation from the largeness of Ralvonsertsons. Trader Joe's is the fourth leg of the table holding up our grocery bill (the others are Vons, the Farmer's market and Costco). Here you will probably find something unique that you can't find in those other stores. We tend to get addicted to something we find here and then they show up in the Ralvonsertsons a few months later. For instance: Pirate Booty. That Booty is delicious! Then there is the peanut butter filled pretzel bites. mmhh mmmhhh MMMHHH! Recently we had these boneless spare ribs that were amazing. Will those be in Ralvonsertsons soon? Something I find a little confusing is comparing their prices to the larger stores. I say they are more expensive, but my wife says they aren't. I have yet to do an in-depth analysis. I'll let you be the judge. I do admit that you can find good deals on alcohol though. You winos out there already know about 2buckchuck. All the fruits and vegetables are wrapped up tight like they've been shipped to Tahiti or something. Hey, I guess that goes with the theme. I like Tahiti by the way. I never ever ever ever thought in my lifetime I would ever ever ever write a Trader Joe's review with less than four stars. Sadly, that day has come. This baffled seasoned Trader Joe's Shopping Veteran who's been supporting the company since before the majority of their employees were even born, can't even describe the annoyance of this location. This store's lack of square footage I've concluded is possibly the reasoning behind the lack of selection offered. And the layout isn't typical of any Trader Joe's I've ever experienced. The frozen food sections aren't just one long aisle with four different freezers and a four by four section on either side halfway down the middle, they're scattered between different aisles and don't have any rhyme or reason as to why they're where they are and why that freezer in that particular spot is the freezer with the ice cream. The wine selection, as well as the liquor section, was very dismal and there were these clustered display areas of wooden case boxes with these bottles of eclectic brands I'd never seen elsewhere (Trader Joe's locations, as with any franchise or piece of the big puzzle, have their uniqueness and product that stands out, but there are some staples that make Trader Joe's Trader Joe's, and several of those items I could not find here) Majority of employees I saw seem to have the affliction of stranger danger: I saw employees huddled around clientele they must know on a personal side or they've been waiting on them for years. Nobody even looked at me until I got to checkout, annoyed I couldn't find the wine flavor I wanted. Cashier was respectful and didn't seem to suffer the stranger danger calamity his counterparts do. The public restrooms (which I visited cuz I had been on the road for hours and needed to) were two single toilet "unisex restrooms". Some homeless looking guy walked out of one and this single toilet "unisex restroom" was scarred for life after he left. The smell nauseating me so bad, I walked right out and waited for the other "unisex restroom" to be available. It wasn't much better than its counterpart, but it didn't have the aroma of eau de hobo. Disappointed with the dismal selection, I bought my few things and decided I better stop at another location on my way home. Next time I feel I need a Trader Joe's stop on my way home from LA County, I will remember to leave this one in my rearview and keep on trucking... read more

Love Trader Joes, and this one lives up to their rep! They have fresh flowers, and all a great food selection you would expect. The prices are good here, and they have good food. Some helpful recipes: 1. Get their cooked lentils and mix some with their prepared bruschetta in the cold section and mix them together; mix 1 lentils: 1/2 bruschetta. 2. Try their feta cheese from Israel and eat it in wraps, or just with crackers! 3. They have a cooked smoked salmon, and that is good a lil warmed up with some white rice, soy sauce, and veggies. read more

Eh. I love the Trader Joe's stores in Ventura. Friendly employees, stores with good feng shui, fresh products, good selection. Parking lots that don't take years off your life (or your car's life). All the things that are missing at this store. I freaking HATE the parking lot, here. It's a giant cluster-cuss. People seem to forget all parking etiquette. Just drive, park and return your carts, people, seriously. Once at the store, half the time, there are people soliciting (asking for petition signatures, collecting donations, etc.). I know that I'm very fortunate to be able to buy fresh, healthy food for my family, but many times, I'm a little stressed and/or short on time and cash, so I don't like being hassled. Nor do I really care whether or not Camarillo gets an Indian casino. TJ's doesn't control the clientele, but for corn's sake, TRY USING PLEASE, THANK YOU, and EXCUSE ME. I don't mean to yell, but didn't you learn this in preschool? The store here is always crowded, and it lacks the selection of other TJs I enjoy so much. The final kick in the pants is the employees. The other day, I checked out with my infant in a car seat in the shopping cart (not my cup of tea to go grocery shopping with my infant anyway, you gotta realize). The employee checking the groceries was rough handling the cart and didn't even acknowledge the presence of the kid in a carseat, as I tried to make sure the carseat didn't wobble or fall off. I don't expect the seas to part and people to freak out with glee over my child, but at least, be rather nice. So glad I don't shop here regularly. read more

I'm not hip, I'm not cool. I'm just me. This is one of the places I like to shop for some "healthier" alternatives to food in regards to frozen dinners and what not. I used to also go here for Crinkle Cut chips and the air puffed Pirate's Booty, but those you can find anywhere now a days. I really like the assortment of juices, prepared foods, nuts, and soda they have here. I also like the really cheap rice noodle bowls they offer. My only gripe, the lines are always ridiculously long. read more

Organic food is a bit of a fad, but it's a tasty fad, so I enjoy going to Trader Joe's. A lot of people I talk to say it's cheaper there, it is if you stick with the freezer section. And if you only get chicken from the freezer section. Let's face it, it's well priced for WHAT IT IS, not for the portions of food you get, and for a poor family this would be a stretch to shop at. The two things I buy there now, due to all the other food going bad too quickly (2-3 days) are the Frozen asian chicken packages (Teriyaki, Sweet and Sour, Orange), frozen potato wedges, potatoes with bell peppers and onions, and some booze. They don't even have great rice there to have with the chicken, I have to get some shirakiku rice from Ralph's to get anything half decent to serve with asian food. Be careful with the bread, it lasts 2-3 days in my experience. The pizza dough lasts 1-2 days, the vegetables brown out twice as early as ones from Ralph's. If organic is supposed to be better, why does it seem like their is less rotation going on with the goods at Trader Joe's. One thing that turns me off, is the big Spanish Hills crowd going in there, turning up their nose at my day-off basketball shorts and slippers. Honestly, who dresses up to go to a freakin grocery store. You are shopping, not going to some night club. read more

TJ's, the boutique grocer in Camarillo, has many of the staple items in our household, right after Costco. I'll be interested to see how they fare now that Fresh 'N Easy is going up on Las Posas. We frequently buy the electrolyte water, baked (not fried) chips, multi-grain crackers, jalapeño cilantro and red pepper hummus, frozen veggies (melange - yummy!), cereal, balance bars and coffee cake mix. Often I walk out with 3 or 4 bottles of wine, as well. Their prices make it easy to avoid shopping at the "big" grocery store. It also has a fun vacation-y ambiance (which undoubtedly makes you feel "happy" so you'll purchase more - clever marketing!) With a lot of checkers, you'll never find yourself more than 3rd in line. If you forget to bring your reusable shopping tote, you can buy one there. I appreciate the conservational approach, even though I find myself brown-bagging my groceries 90% of the time. Every Trader Joe's is wonderful, this one is no exception. Fresh produce, good looking meats, etc. I picked up some wild caught Atlantic salmon. It was a bit fishy smelling, but tasted great! I frequently shop at this Trader Joes and it's always clean with very friendly and helpful staff. The aisles are usually well stocked with the exception of some items going out of stock. The produce is good. I also like their sample counter. I've gotten several good meal ideas from there. There are a few negatives one thing I would say is that parking can be a hassle at times. Also I wish their flower selection was a little better and if they had a larger produce section. Also, they need more of a meat/chicken selection. I always have to go to another store to complete my shopping which I don't like. Otherwise everything else is fine and the checkout process is generally quick and easy. I like being able to go in and out and that is something I am usually able to do at this location. I frequently shop here but I give 3 stars because of the size of the store needs to increase. Compared to other Trader Joe's I've been to it's small. This is probably the cause of the lack of selection. They also should have two separate bathrooms. I don't like the unisex bathroom with multiple stalls (i won't use the restroom). Might as well have one restroom. read more

Who doesn't love TJ's??? "A dozen eggs always $1.43" now a days is a bargain! Just try and stay away from all the other amazing things they have. I love this location, because the service is always great and it's close to my home. To be honest I could live anywhere that had a TJ's... My newest craze is Vanana Yogurt! It's a cross between banana and vanilla and I think it is even organic. It is so yummy and I normally hate yogurt! I even picked up a pretty purple flowering plant the last time I was there! First off I normally have never had bad customer service until today. I'm throwing a complaint at the cashier named Erik young looking guy apparently he likes to talk and talk meanwhile everyone else at the other registers are flying by and he's just yapping away taking his precious time. Btw Trader Joe's isn't paying you to talk about your life story and your dog to someone. My daughter was freaking out because of how long he was taking. He didn't even acknowledge that I was there or even apologize for taking so long you could hear my daughter getting irritated so I would think if you see a customer you would try to hurry so you can help the next person I couldn't take it anymore I throw all my stuff back in the cart and go to another register. Trader Joe's I think you need to train some of them better. For last minute, on the go meals, TJs is my go to. Last night we were attending the Concert in the Park and we were low on time so we swung by to grab some food. I got the Chinese Chicken Salad and my friend got the Curried Chicken Salad. They were both fresh and delicious. Perfect for hot weather and I love that they have the silverware and napkins to grab on the way out the door. Since we were going to an outdoor concert in hot weather, we had to grab some Henry Hotspurs Hot Pressed Apple cider and a box of hazelnut cookies. The kids loved the cookies and we enjoyed the cider. All in all a great meal for only $20. Best part for my daughter is the stickers they always give them. Eclectic selection and healthy choices make this grocery store a must go! I frequent Trader Joes, or TJ's as I call it at least 3 times a week. Their various selection of organic and diverse selection make it a favorite of mine. You can discover new type of cuisines down every aisle. There's a microwaveable Tuna Panang curry and Japanese ice cream mochi! I have shopped at Whole Foods and it still does not compare to Trader Joe's fresh salads and awesome frozen food. While I love Whole Food's amazing salad bar, I contend that Trader Joe's has more of a selection of that fits the publics various dietary needs. I recommend these that you should try out these: BBQ CHicken Salad (with only 45 g of CARBS!); the chile verde frozen tamales; and the no salt peanut butter pretzels! read more

UPDATE: I previously reviewed TJ's in Encino. THIS REVIEW IS FOR CAMARILLO AND WOODLAND HILLS. -- The aisles are very wide in Camarillo, it's very clean (thank gawd for small favors) and the parking is reasonable. The Woodland Hills location is cleaner and bigger than Encino but the parking is only somewhat less atrocious. Encino is just a traffic accident waiting to happen. -- Camarillo, like all TJ's has very friendly - and helpful employees. They'll walk you to the product you're looking for, without you asking, and with a smile on their face - and you don't have to be a hot girl for this to happen. :-) -- Everything else positive has been said so I'll explain why my "4-stars" instead of five: they need a few more products - like can be found at Sprouts - to make this "one-stop" shopping. "So Delicious" coconut (not soy - ugh!) CREAMER would be very welcome. "Pastured" eggs would be a bonus. And their produce seems to wind up with more "bruises" than some. And I need more "bruises" like I need a black eye! :-) - Again, if you're reading this TJ's, look at Sprouts for some ideas on how to get 5-stars. read more

Trader Joe's, what more do you need to know: Friendly, amusing staff. Dried goods, lots and lots of different unique dried goods. Reasonably priced dairy and meats. Beware of the fresh organic produce in the clear packs. Without being able to fully examine the goods, you can easily get one skanky piece that makes the whole pack go bad in a day or two. So, when you get it home get it out of the packaging, dispatch the one or two turdy bits, and rinse and dry. This TJ's is not the biggest or best stocked in the area. The Thousand Oaks is a little better stocked, with the bonus of a Whole Foods just down the street. read more

This Trader Joe's is horrible. Horrible parking, horrible crowd that never learned manners as simple as excuse me. I have had people cut in front of me in line and bump into me without an excuse me or anything and many more aggressions of the angry rich. The workers here are not helpful. The place is too small with too many rude people. I live in Camarillo, but I drive to the Trader Joe's in Ventura....both of the two in Ventura are wonderful. read more
