Coming back to leave an updated review. I can't comment on the status of the staff and my interactions with them as I completed this morning shopping trip solo. I do really hope the customer service and cashier friendliness has improved since my last review but I can't speak to that yet. The reason I am jumping back on here and leaving an updated review is due to having a better experience shopping solo and feeling much more impressed with their price point and selection. Being able to shop here while the store was on the emptier side was a real treat. The isles were easy to navigate and every shelf was well stocked. Very clean and easy to find all of the items I was looking for. I was very impressed with the selections today throughout the store. Found even some local goods - like specialty seasoning salt from Santa Maria which was exciting. Checking out at the self-help registers were a breeze. I didn't purchase very much so it was a quick in and out and no hassle. Happy that there were a lot of deals and specials today. Will be back. read more

This Vons is spacious and clean, and the aisles are clearly marked. I came here to locate some icing-topped brownies to which I've become addicted. I didn't find the brownies; however, I found a vast and well-organized store with clearly marked aisles and other bakery and dessert items I yearned for. Even with the Vons membership card, prices are higher than other grocery stores. But checkout was easy, and I had plenty of space to not get in one's way while deciding how many dessert items I needed. Spoiled alert: all of them. read more

Visited this location their second day opening and I was in awe. It's very spacious inside, and they offer more things in their deli section and sushi section than any other Vons I have been too. And can we give it up to their cheese section it's INSANE! I couldn't even decide which cheeses I wanted. Since it was there second day the staff was busy and what seemed to be a little overwhelmed but that's normal for grand openings. I will definitely go out of my way to visit this Vons...especially for their cheeses. read more

Just a stone's throw away is this newly designed Vons at a completely different address! On a rare rainy day towards the end of January, I made my way towards this store. "Wow, it's already opened already?!" I soon see the "Grand Opening" sign on the corner of Arneill Street. Amazing, I thought. This store used to be where K-mart of Camarillo was. It is HUGE. This is certainly the biggest Vons I've ever been to of my life. Now I know that the Vons family has contributed a lot to Camarillo. Think of Walmart size but then apply it to this Vons! Coming from Huntington Beach in Orange County, I've never seen such a bigger store! Walking in, I see the balloon arch -- indicative of a newly opened store. It is well-lit with all the aisles, fully stocked. I was able to pick up laundry detergent, chips, and soda with ease. The self-check out counter was fast, especially with a store employee overseeing the process. She was very nice and extremely helpful. I had a problem with my check-out and she resolved it with a smile. I surely will return to this big and bright store! It even has a gas station that is being built but not yet open at this time of this review. read more

I'm loving the new Vons. Great cheese selection and the bakery area is outstanding. I'm not a big drinker but they have a walk in beer fridge. Definitely something to check out. The staff is always friendly and the self checkout is always a plus for me. Don't forget to get gas on your way out and pop into the gas mart for some dole whip! read more

The only wine I drink is Kendall Jackson Chardonnay and it was on sale there. So I called to see if they had a few cases for me to purchase but they didn't. So after being put on hold a few times and getting disconnected a few times, I finally spoke to a woman, Jennifer, who apologized to me and asked me how could she help me. I told her what I wanted and she said she would talk to Kurt, and then call me back instead of putting me on hold again. Later that day she called me and asked me how many cases did I want and which of the Kendall Jackson's did I want and I told her. Between her and Kurt they ordered the wine for me and said they would call me when it was in which would have been two days. I thanked her so much for her help and kindness. I did get a text message from Kurt that my wine was there and ready to be picked up at the Customer Service desk and it was. I was thrilled with that. I don't shop there very often because I've been shopping at another store for many years and I'm comfortable there. I know the store really well and I'm happy with the relationship I have with quite a lot of the employees including the Store Manager. I will say that I have shopped in this store a few times and they really do have quite the selection. I'm impressed! Terrible customer service. The cashiers are rude. Particular a big lady with a big head of salt and pepper hair/glasses at checkout station 6 this morning. I had two items and she refused to check me out because she was "closed" i had 3 items with me. She sent me back to the self check out that we're not working. I was over at the self check waiting for the "help" that was on the way but never came. But even then, why is the only open cashier closing her lane? read more

I like this store very much. Since moving to the new location, it's brighter, has wider aisles, overall a much better experience. However, after shopping today and spending over $200, during the checkout I had to listen to the checker and the bagger talk about how much the hated their job and complained about it being the worse place to work. Though it may not be great, having this discussion in front of your customers it truly unprofessional. Unfortunately, this may go with them to whatever new jobs they get. read more

Terrific job on this big, new market but cell phones are useless in there. You can log-on to the Vons website but good luck getting it to do anything. Simple texts also won't be sent until you cross the front door threshold. Sprouts and Trader Joe's it is! read more

Great store. I do have a concern however; why is it that customers leave the shopping carts to block handicap walk ways in the parking lot.

This review is for the Von's Camarillo on Arneill Road. I've been coming here since opening day and while I do love most of the store there is one glaring, obvious deficiency with this place. There is no customer service available at the customer service desk. It's....bizarre. At first when they opened I chalked it up to it being a new store. But they never did fix the problem. I mention it every time I have to walk around and shake down a random employee (usually a checker who shouldn't have to be interrupted while working a register). They have a customer service counter. But no one works it. Ok, I get it. Corporate America has long since stopped caring about customer service. This place is no different. But there's no button. No bell. Nothing. Not only do they not care about customer service enough to even put a human being in the area defined as "Customer Service", but there is no mechanism at all to let folks know you're there. I used to wait patiently. That literally never worked. I would wait and look at the time just to see how long it took for someone to notice I need help while my ice cream melts. Every time it was some cashier who finally noticed I'd been there for an extended time and would have to stop what they're doing (which is dumb) to call someone. It's totally not a cashiers job to have to do that. Maybe there's a camera but obviously no one is watching it at all. Every time I'm in line buying my groceries (which is often since it's my go-to grocery store) I see other people standing there at the Customer Service counter with the same frustrated look on their face looking around for help to no avail. At a certain point, I just accepted that there is absolutely no plan whatsoever to help customers who stand at the customer service counter (an irony that should be embarrassing for everyone). So now I know to just go up to a cashier and interrupt what they're doing (I don't want to, but there's literally no other choice). Then the cashier has to call for a manager (which is also dumb since presumably the manager's time is even more valuable). Then eventually the manager stops what they're doing to come help. Now - I like all the employees there. They're all really nice. This is not their fault. But whoever oversees the store at the upper management level is absolutely asleep at the wheel, negligent beyond comprehension, or just plain stupid. Take your pick. Any way you cut it, it's so ridiculous and embarrassing (that special kind of embarrassment where you're embarrassed for other people who are too dumb to know they should be embarrassed). I've mentioned they need a call button every single time. Every time. So, so many times. Several times the manger says that they'll pass it up the ladder. Maybe they did. Maybe they didn't. But it's such a staggering head scratcher that not only do they not staff the customer service desk at all (which honestly feels like a middle finger from the store to all their customers) - they have no mechanism whatsoever for a customer to call for service at the counter that is well defined as the Customer Service counter. I've walked away frustrated. I've watched other customers walk away frustrated. I've mentioned it to the staff. I've mentioned it to the managers. Maybe some of them forgot to pass it up the chain of command, but I find it hard to believe that after all this time upper management didn't get it mentioned to them at least several times. So at this point, here I am on Yelp giving them a 2 star review in the (probably naive) hope that maybe someone in upper management pulls their head out from where it doesn't belong. It's such an glaring problem. And the solution is so cheap and so simple. Literally every other business on earth that offers a customer service counter has a call button on it. Only this store clearly wants you to know that they absolutely don't care about you. Seriously - if you shop here just look towards the customer service desk when you're checking out. You'll see exactly what I mean. For the love of God - Von's - fire whoever manages this store and put a competent person in charge instead. It's really that easy. You're insulting every one of your customers every day that you fail to offer the ability to call for help at the customer service counter. You're telling us in no uncertain terms that you don't care about helping us at all. What is so hard about this? Figure it out folks. read more

This new Vons store is amazing! Beautiful layout and incredible new shopping features. This Grand Opening was truly ran well. The BEST part was running into my familiar faces. Apparently they brought in help from neighborhood stores and I had the pleasure of having Maci be my cashier once again. Maci is an amazing cashier and asset to Vons. Always cheerful, smiling, helpful, and makes you feel valued. She went above and beyond as I remember from years ago. The food choices in hot and cold boxes are abundant. I can't say it enough, I love this store and its crew. I'm hoping Maci is here for good! read more

I called on a Wednesday afternoon to place an order for cupcakes for Saturday and they said I couldn't pick I up until after 3pm on Saturday. I've never experienced this problem at the old Vons store. Isn't this one supposed to be bigger and better? I'm so disappointed. The handicap parking is not good. The loading zone is not wide enough to use a wheelchair van because there is not enough room for the wheelchair to safely make it down the ramp. read more

I love their sushi especially the ginger that comes with it deli people are nice too and Siopao the chin bun is awesome I'll be coming back for more I love the salmon sushi well done vons. read more

This renovated store hasn't changed from the old store. One check stand opened. The advertised specials (ny thin steak) are not available. Just a huge cluster that was a big waste of time. Never again. read more

You really have to watch the prices. They had Dove ice cream on sale 2 boxes of 10 pieces for $8.00, finally a sale where you don't have to purchase 5 items to get the sale price.I checked my receipt when I got home and they charged me $12.00 , i couldn't see when checking out because I didn't have my glasses with me. we waited over a week for the chaos to settle before we wandered through. Around 6/7pm on a Tuesday. Hardly a crowd, I stopped shopping Von's on the regular years ago, prices were too high. So I was really happy to see some prices were better. But still not a place I can buy weekly groceries exclusively , some prices are way too high. Got not one smile or greeting from ANY employee. Not even at Checkout. Didn't feel Welcome at all. Not even those 'fake' smiles or greetings you get at other stores. I well give them other chances. Give them a chance to get settled. read more

Beautiful store, well-stocked, but absolutely horrid workers in the fresh Deli dept. Lazy, slow, pouting, not greeting customers, mumbling when asked questions. Just horrid. I waited in a small line to have sandwiches made for my family and was never greeted or even acknowledged the entire time I wai When I asked if I could order an older, heavier lady replied, well, I'm off now and walked away. Another woman was slicing meat forever and a younger man was just pacing up and down behind the counter doing nothing. I said I'd go speak with a manager and left. Not one employee had name badges on and I went through the self-check with my purchases. The older, heavier lady who was supposed to be off, popped up in front of me and started lecturing me on what I should say when I complained to the Mgr. "You tell them you had to wait because we only had three people working the counter, you tell them that!" I told her to go away, and not speak another word to me and left. So sad that my first outing to the pretty new store was ruined by confrontational, lazy, ignorant people that could care less about their job or their customers. It made me wonder just how they "prepare" the food if they're that unhpappy and agressive with their jobs at the new store. And, absolutely no management on scene. I guess they're getting sold to Piggly Wiggly so I'm holding out hope that they'll provide much better customer service. Literally any store would be better if this is how the employees act. Also, at the self-check was a young man standing around complaining with another employee. Just so unprofessional.
