Trader Joe's has quickly become my favorite grocery store once I realized that they have enough variety and affordable prices. They don't have as much variety as larger stores like Walmart or Wegmans, so it might seem like they only cater to very specific audience. But in reality you'll find all the basics you need faster and often of better quality. Trader Joe's seems to be very selective about the products they offer, and often they create their own alternatives. For example, I found their vegan cream cheese to be tastier than other brands. They also have vegetarian salads and soups - perfect for healthy eating and busy lifestyle. I like their mindset overall - offering better healthier options for similar prices to the customers while being sensitive to environmental issues, fair trade and more. What can I say? I trust this business, which I don't say often. Way to go, Trader Joe's. P.S. their coffee (available for tasting) is perfect. read more

This is by far my favorite grocery store. Not only are their prices great, their staff is amazing. Every time I come in here everyone has a smiling face and is always willing to go out of their way to help. This is the only grocery store that I really look forward to going to. I love their sampling station as well, I always look forward to all of the new things I can try - and generally end up buying. Another plus, even when they're super busy the wait to cash out isn't very long, they always open extra registers. I think the most I've ever waited was 5 minutes - much better then some of the bigger grocery stores in the area. read more

Our friends brought us shopping across the border from Vancouver to Bellingham. They're so lucky! Clothes? Shoes? No thanks. We went to buy food!!! Now we can do the same: Toronto to Niagara Falls/Buffalo. Sure, it's a bit further, but it's worth the drive! I bought almost $100 worth of groceries. I love all of their products. This is one of my favorite places to shop. The selection is varied and interesting. I've been able to try a lot of food I normally wouldn't have been able to because they were stocked here. Their gluten free options taste a lot better than the ones other grocery stores have had for the most part. Back when I couldn't have eggs or milk because of an elimination diet their vegan options were a life saver. I've heard the employees actually do tours to show customers what they can purchase if they're vegan. So many of my favorite products can be found at Trader Joes (and only Trader Joes!) I'd also be remiss if I didn't mention how great the customer service is here. The cashiers are all so friendly and helpful, while the stockers are happy to help you find whatever you're looking for. I know we have no other locations to compare to in Buffalo.... but this is really the worst Trader Joe's location. Every time I come here they don't have any of the items in stock that I came for. Like, I wait 20 min in line in the freezing cold for no reason every single time. Yikes. read more

Shopping in a new world lately two things are pretty important to us cleanliness and space between shoppers. Trader Joe has both. I was super impressed with how attentive they were to cleaning each cart as the used ones came back from the use they just had and also a employee is standing with a bottle of sanitizer for you as you walk in the store. When I side people were not over crowding your personal space at all. I have alway loved their selection of food and unique items so this just added to a good shopping experience. I appreciate that they are going above and beyond for their customer. Get the ginger snaps while you are there they are top notch!! read more

It's true love for me and Trader Joes! I wanted to try their coconut yogurt to make sure I liked it before I bought a weeks worth. They opened a new one and let me try it without hesitation. It's wonderful! I bought seven blueberry containers. I just wish they had more flavor options. Today they only had vanilla or blueberry. Can't wait until next weeks trip. read more

Love Trader Joe's! I usually go there for their croissants. They have amazing chocolate and almond croissants that seriously rival Williams-Sonoma's, and they are 1/4 the price. They have a great selection of frozen foods. My favorites are the Mac and cheese bite appetizer and the reduced guilt Mac and cheese. They are both affordable and delicious. I gave it four stars because they don't have the best meat selection and I am underwhelmed by the produce--I prefer Wegmans produce. However, the prices here are great overall! read more

So, I've been out of the game for restaurant reviews recently as I'm participating in the Whole 30 diet challenge. No alcohol, no dairy, no grains, no gluten, no legumes and no sugar of any kind (well fruit is OK). This elimination diet is all about knowing what is in our foods and chosing those "compliant" items. Until now, I've never really paid much attention to trader Joe's... Of course I've been there but just as a novelty. WELL, let me tell you, this place is great! Fresh fruits and veggies at reasonable cost (compared to Wegmans and whole foods). The section of nuts is great, a fraction of the cost elsewhere. Many natural nut butter options, olive oils, cheeses (not that I'm eating.... But I'm noticing for future). They have some Healthcare and beauty, household cleaners, soaps, etc. The store is not large by our regular grocery store standards but they pack a lot of goodness in there. And the place was still jumpin at 7:00pm on a Friday. The staff is also great! Helpful, friendly and overall courteous! I don't think I can replace Wegmans completely for my shopping needs (hence the 4 star VS 5 star) but Trader Joe's is for sure going to be a regular stop. read more

Love it! Always did. Used to shop in TJ in Emeryville, California and all over the Bay Area few years back. I used to pack my suitcase with non-perishable items on my return trip to Buffalo from visits to California for years, believe it or not!! But no more. If you think the location on Niagara Falls boulevard is tight and traffic-congested go to the one in Emeryville! It was a fight to get a parking spot and then bump carts with the other shoppers once you got inside. Too bad one cannot purchase wine in grocery stores here like in California -I do miss that convenience. Here in NY you can buy beer in grocery stores (and even in the evil Walmart) but not wine. TJ had a good selection of wines. Oh well that's a topic for another day. So I will not repeat all you've read in other posts - yes, it is a one of a kind store. Great selection of alternative type food. Love the fresh choices like jicama - have yet to see that in Tops or Wegmans. And the Thai curry sauces that help turn your shrimp or chicken into exotic, delicious, dishes. I always end up seeing something new (or new to me) that I want to try. My daughter loves the kale chips and seaweed snacks. She is the most cool 3rd grader at snack time thanks to TJ. read more

You never wait in line to check out, and you'll always leave smiling. Having discovered the goodness of Trader Joe's in LA, I was thrilled to hear that one opened in the Buffalo area (technically in Amherst). Closer to Toronto and Hamilton, sure, but I still have to cross a damned international border to get my fix, sigh. It's not a big location, and you will not find the famous (formerly known as) "two buck chunk" wine here. In fact, the only alcohol on sale is a hefty selection of beer. Not a big dealbreaker, as they sure have most of their essentials available here, like cheap cereal, pound-block chocolate, and cookie butter. Good frozen meals too. Great healthy groceries at unbelievable salivating prices, it's hard not to fall in love with Trader Joe's or to get carried away with too much stuff. Loove Trader Joe's! This stop is usually my favourite stop during Buffalo trips. Also, the fact that we don't have it in Canada makes it "exclusive" and I can't wait to get my hands on things. As I am writing this I am finishing off the last piece of the pumpkin cheesecake I got. Yes, it is delicious. So good, everything about it is just right. Even if you don't like pumpkin, I think it's something anyone would enjoy. On my most recent trip, I made sure to stock up on a couple bottles of their tomato basil marinara sauce because this is the best store bought sauce I have ever had. I made some pasta and homemade meatballs last month using this sauce and everyone thought it was amazing! I also got some of their chewy chocolate chip cookies. Not bad, not bad. They kind of taste like chips ahoy, but soft, but NOT like chewy chips ahoy. These are better. I usually like trying their frozen meals. I recently tried the spinach lasagna and it wasn't great but the pesto tortellini was a little more promising. It just was such a small amount but that's usually how frozen meals go. My bill here is usually pretty hefty because I literally buy everything that tickles my fancy. I'm not coming back for awhile, so might as well! The staff are all super friendly and happy ALL the time (how do they do it?), so that's a plus. ALSO, their grocery bags are so cute! Classic brown bags with handles. read more

No fault of Trader Joe's 'cause anything's probably cheaper than groceries in Ontario, but during my visit, I noticed that some of the prices have gone up within the last year or so. I used to buy their Pineapple Juice that was $2.99, but now it's $3.99, Marcona Almonds were $4.99, now $6.49. Maybe it was a bad crop season or whatever, but just an observation. Still damn cheaper than shopping back home though, that's for sure! And the staff is always happy, available if you need any assistance. read more

Came in to see what kind of items they had and I truly was not impressed. The first thing that was a HUGE turnoff for me was the restroom. Walked in and it was so disgusting, the toilet paper was out and it was on the sink. The floor was completely disgusting, I walked out as fast as I got in. Walked around and wasn't really impressed with the items walking around the store. I know they are supposed to be a "big" competitor for Wegmans, however I will not be switching my grocery location for awhile. read more

A must stop when I am in BUF. This is a smaller TJ's compared to ones in NYC and New Jersey. But I am just happy to have them an hour drive away from me. Product selection is decent although perhaps due to space constraints they don't carry specific items we like such as the Fruity O's cereal. In addition this location unfortunately does not carry wine so no Two Buck Chuck :( Staff are eager to assist. Trader Joe's will always be my go to for groceries. Better options, better pricing and a quicker experience! I can bring my daughter and let her push a mini cart next to me and not worry about getting in the way of angry Wegmans shoppers. The staff is always extremely friendly and helpful. People think Trader Joe's might be pricey, but do some price comparison for the items you usually buy. You will not be disappointed. You just have to stay away from the extras, which is easier said then done because they have such unique and delicious options you won't find in Wegmans. I love the Greek yogurt and spinach dip as well as their trail mixes and dried fruit to keep in my desk at work. I just wish they have a few more toiletry items so I never had to go to another store again! Maybe even some baby/child products as well. read more

This was my first time in a Trader Joe's as we don't have them in Hawaii. When I visited my son in Williamsville, NY he took me here. I was amazed at all the products they carried. And the staff were very helpful. I was able to buy gifts to bring back. The products were reasonably priced. I love it! read more

Trader Joe's was our favorite place to shop during our 14 years in Las Vegas. When we returned to Buffalo, we were happy to see that a Trader Joe's was now located here. We soon learned that they are out of stock on many items on a regular basis. It's still a great place to shop but management needs to insure that items in demand are stocked. read more

At last. Thank you, Trader Joe's, for coming to Buffalo. You have made this Cali girl so so happy. What makes Trader Joe's different from Wegman's or Top's, you ask? Why should I do my grocery shopping there?!? 1) Number one reason is Speculoos Cookie Butter. It's like crack but with ginger snap bits. 2) Prices. Their prices are generally cheaper than other supermarkets because they sell mostly via their own private label. Their produce can be more affordable, depending on what you buy. I found their meats to be a little pricier but that is only because they are organic and grass fed (antibiotic-free). 3) It's your neighborhood grocery store. The staff are all spectacular and friendly. I haven't met someone who didn't enjoy working at TJ's. 4) Unique product lines. I can spend so much time just looking at what new products they have. Even though it's generally smaller than other grocery stores, the variety of different dishes, snacks, and beverages (including beer and wine) is superb. I get something different every week to try. Their frozen selection is perfect for the college student who doesn't have time to cook but wants something good to eat (without spending a lot of $$$). 5) Supports the environment and fair trade. Some of you may or may not care about either of these things, but hey why not? Every little bit counts. It's great for the green and for the health guru. A few of my favorite suggestions: Cookie Butter, Pumpkin bagels (seasonal), Vegetable lasagna (frozen), Pad See Ew (frozen), kogi marinated beef (meats), hummus, pita chips, truffle brownie mix, and Mission St. Beer. Love this store! There are so many unique and/or seasonal selections that are not available in other stores, but there are also many staple items available. The quality of the offered items is high while the prices remain reasonable. Pre-packaged meals are, more often than not, delicious and worth trying. Everyone in the staff is friendly and helpful. Trader Joe's has some of their company philosophy posted on the wall by the bathrooms. These are not mere words to be displayed to the customers. The company and the staff believe in the philosophy behind these words; I can feel it in the employees' attitude, in the way they talk to the store patrons, and in the way they talk about their employer with pride and with a sense of ownership. Trader Joe's is the first grocery store that I know of who will willingly take any opened product back if the customer isn't happy with the product. This is such an assurance and a big relief for me, as I like to try new things but don't like having to toss out opened and barely touched goods that don't like me. I am a big fan of Trader Joe's and will happily continue to patronize this store for as long as it remains open. Additional note: Trader Joe's has many seasonal items and constantly reviews customer feedback on their products. Items that are not selling well are discontinued, and new items are released in their place. This can result in disappointment when a personal favorite ends up discontinued, but it also means going to Trader Joe's is an exciting adventure to discover what new items have been released. Visiting the store with a shopping list and a budget is definitely recommended. read more

I absolutely love stopping by Trader Joe's when I'm on NF Blvd. All of their staff is friendly and the store itself is not too overcrowded. TJ's will occasionally have good sales on wines and other specialty items. It can be a bit pricey without a sale but if price is not an issue then swing by and try their frozen foods and produce too! It's still cheaper than Wholefoods and some Wegman's prices without sacrificing quality. I can always find something to fill my cart with a trip to Trader Joe's. It's always best to stop by TJ's if it's not rush hour so that exiting is easier as it is located right before a busy intersection. read more

This place is a bit of a zoo right now; because it is brand new. But despite the chaos - the people there are surprisingly still very friendly and helpful even with the hordes of people surrounding them asking a question after question - and they gave you a straight up honest answer in the way customer service should always be. I didn't stay long since this place is worse than a regular Chinese mall parking lot on a weekend - but I did stay long enough to discover cocoa swirl cookie butter is insanely popular along with the wiped out selection of pumpkin cheesecake and the regular cookie butter. Pricing better than expected for a organic/health food market - which makes me feel less intimidate - and despite the chaos more willing to plunk down some cash Since I am from Canada this place is closest to the border - so maybe not a place that I would shop at often - due to the distance issues. But if I am in Buffalo - it is worth going to if you are curious what this chain is all about. The 4 stars are definitely for the staff for staying friendly and cool and upbeat under fire. First experience going to any Trader Joe's. I have to say that i'm surprised at what I found. I thought it was going to be a store that was more focused around specialty items but, it's not. Basically it's just a supermarket that sells predominantly their own brands. The store itself is a lot smaller than I anticipated. Which is actually nice compared to some of the behemoths that are typical of WNY. Don't get me wrong I love Wegmans but, it's nice that I didn't have to walk a mile while shopping for groceries. Total time in store was probably about ten minutes including check out. I was there around 3:30 in the afternoon so it wasn't as jam packed as I heard it would be. I grabbed some cage free eggs, $2.29, some Black Forest Bacon, $5.49/12oz, 2 24oz bottles of Boatswain Double IPA, $2.29 each and a block of jalapeño Monterey Jack for $3.50. All that for under $17, hot damn. I thought these prices were just promotional for the new store but, later on I was informed the prices remain consistent. I believe I'll be cheating on Wegmans with my new love affair, Trader Joe. Sounds a bit raunchy but hey, gotta love a good deal. I recommend you check it out. read more

Yes I did venture out to the store during opening weekend. No its not a good idea. Think about how a store/plaza/parking lot is during the Christmas holiday season. Here's what you need to know: Like other Trader Joe's? pretty much, line checkout is different as you form individual lines, not one long line and are then shuffled to individual clerks Like Wegman's? I don't think so, Trader Joe's is cheaper and more hipster-y Crazy driving/parking? Yes, but I went opening weekend so I just parked in the Barnes and Noble/other adjacent lot and I didn't have trouble parking or walking the extra two minutes Cramped store? Hell yes because of all the suburban shoppers taking their sweet time. For me, I was in and out in about 30 minutes. You gotta have a big city attitude for this folks, MOVE IT! Will I do all my grocery shopping here? No, but I will come again for the Trader Joe's must haves. read more

I am assuming you already know what Trader Joe's is. No need to elaborate or write a lengthy description, right? Having spent time living on the West coast, I can honestly say that I am intimately familiar with Trader Joe's. Buffalo currently has this single location, jammed in a plaza off the busy Niagara Falls Blvd. Getting to this location can be a challenge during peak driving hours because of the amount of traffic in this area, which doesn't seem to clear up until after 7 pm. The parking lot is rather large but feels tight for some reason. Even though it is usually packed, you can often find a spot right in front if you look. This location offers about 95% of the products I expect to find at a TJ's. I can't find everything here I could on the West coast, but they do their best to offer a lot of the same products. You'll find healthy alternatives to all types of things here (cereal, snacks, pop, cheese, meats, etc). The beer section carries a lot of the same stuff I found out West, it's neat to see them sold here. I love the breads, bags of veggies, breakfast bars, and snacks! I've never tried to do all of my shopping here. Instead I subsidize my normal list with healthy (quick) alternatives from here. This usually works out great (when stuff is in stock, see below). The store can get busy. Isles are wide enough for 2 carts to pass. I actually bring my own reusable bags and shop with those so that I can not only help the environment, but also move more quickly among cart shoppers. The staff here is rather friendly and helpful, but they don't go out of their way to greet or ask if they can be of some assistance. I always found this strange because every West coast location I've been in was the exact opposite. Maybe this is just a WNY thing, I don't know. The checkers, however, are extremely friendly. They will ask you about your day and offer small talk while they scan your purchases. They always remember to say goodbye and have a nice day! Really, my only complaint for this location is the stock. I can come here with a list of the 5-10 things I need, things only they sell, and almost every visit 1 or 2 things are either not on the shelves or out of stock. By comparison, every TJ's I've been in outside of Buffalo has continuous stockers on the floor filling shelves, greeting customers, and answering questions. I've always felt that this location could do a much better job when it comes to that corporate image. It can be a pain to navigate through local traffic to come to this location and then find that some of what you want isn't even available on that day. They really need to step it up in this area. I hope the future brings another location that is easier to access during rush hour. Overall this is a 3/5 star experience for me. Always a lovely experience when doing grocery shopping here or buying flowers! It's really nice to have one in Buffalo and find good quality food! I always get my oat bev, kale pesto spread, pepper jack cheese, and microwave Mac and cheese, and orange cream ice cream from here. They also have a cool selection of chocolates! It's also nice to see their new seasonal items. I shopped here mostly during the start of quarantine and they always maintained covid regulations. For those who have been here before, this is no new experience. All Trader Joe's are roughly the same size, sell roughly the same stuff, and have roughly the same layout. For those new to TJ's, it's basically the chain version of your local market or co-op. They have a suprisingly wide variety of produce, breads, artisan baked goods, meats, cheeses, dairy, pre-packaged meals, snackies, frozen foods, desserts, beer, drinks, and even skincare all packed into a space that is a fraction of the size of Wegman's while somehow still feeling pretty spacious. Most of their products are of the Trader Joe's brand (or Trader Ming's or Trader Giotto's), and their prices are, on a whole, cheaper than Wegman's for equivalent products. They've got a more diverse selection of goods too, with items like kimchi chips, dahl, ramen, and pasta sauces all prominently and equally-ish featured on the shelves. Best part is TJ's is very veg friendly! This particular location is still missing some of my TJ's staples - sweet potato chips and fresh pizza dough, to name couple. But, as with other Trader Joe's locations, if you tell them about a product you want to see in their store, they'll bring it in for you. I speak from experience. I'm hoping to see these two on the shelves soon! In the meantime, I have stocked my kitchen with som of my favorite TJ's exclusives: lemon pepper grinder, SF Bay Blend coffee, Pita Crackers, Lacie's, mango salsa, and kimchi fried rice...... read more

I grew up in The Land of Plentiful and Overpriced Supermarkets, also known as Westchester County, so thanks to the one-two punch of Wegman's and Tops it's been nice to not spend $9 on a pound of 80/20 ground beef for the past 10 years of my life. I mistakenly thought Trader Joe's was just trendy and expensive. Therefore, when it opened on Niagara Falls Boulevard a few years ago I simply ignored it, assuming it was just Westchester creeping West. What an idiot I am! What a great place it is! There was music playing and people were dancing in the aisles (no, really, some guy was doing a little shuffle) - probably because of the prices! $3.99 for a package of sweet basil pesto and spinach chicken sausage? Yes, please! I know designer chicken sausage can be off-putting, but that's a great price! I've been putting off going to this place for too long. The store is a bit on the small side, but it's the kind of place where you can get everything you need and a lot you don't. You can argue that I didn't "need" to buy a six-pack of Trader Jose beer, but I can argue that I did. You can argue that I didn't "need" to buy a jar of pesto and quinoa sauce, especially because I don't know what quinoa is, but I can argue that for $2.49 I'd buy pesto and fill-in-the-blank sauce without any kind of hesitation. Even the dogs loved Trader Joe's. They ate my girlfriend's entire loaf of spinach and quinoa bread, as well as my tin of anchovies. 4 stars only because it's not that convenient to get there from my house and it's located in one of the busiest shopping plazas known to man. read more

I'm giving Trader Joe's a 3 star right now because the last 3-4 times i have gone there the berries have had mold on them. I come here on my lunch breaks normally and grab some little things i need here and there. They normally have new products too that i like to scope out from time to time. I love the idea of Trader Joes and i do like a lot of their products such as: Cold press juice, inexpensive flowers, coconut creamer, cookie butter, cookie butter cream cheese, cheeses, tortilla wraps, quinoa pastas, rice crackers, hard cider & more. The staff is friendly and helpful when needed. They also have a shelf that they use to specifically display new products that are now stocked, super helpful and neat when i come across something that looks yummy! Overall i do continue to come here, I'm always sampling new products they offer as well when i'm in the store. It's quick and easy, the kind of place you can get in and out quickly. read more

Best peanut butter cups ever! Dark or milk. Be warned you can never go back to Reese's again after having one! They also sell Cookie Butter... if you like ginger bread cookies, beware, this stuff is addictive! They sell Ak-Mak, a cracker you can't buy in Toronto (sob) and on this last trip, I tried their Unexpected Cheddar, an Old Cheddar with a Parmesan after kick, yum! Habanero hot sauce is also great, and the staff are all super friendly and helpful. When I asked where something was, they didn't just point or tell me which aisle, they took me around the store until I found my entire list. THAT is customer service! read more
