My war with squirrels brought me here. I needed chicken wire to deter those pests from eating my freshly planted tulips bulbs. I called and they had 3 varieties to choose from. When I showed up, it felt like I was stepping back in time and I loved every moment. I was greeting and given guidance to what I needed. The gentleman even considered price when making a suggestion to me. Not trying to up sell or give me more than what I needed to get the job done! Our experience was great from start to finish, and I was very impressed with their selection of gardening vegetables. There were multiple varieties of greens, a dozen plus a Herbs, and pretty much everything you could need to start an expansive vegetable garden. He told me he had never seen or heard of anything being online as I was offering to show him the info on my phone. I was confused about this reaction because it was this store that prompted me to sign up for the awards program online in the first place. He seemed agitated and cut me off mid-sentence and walked away from the register. He also said he would 'check with someone.' The cashier and I were both confused by this. She asked him to confirm whether or not he was talking to someone else about it while he was standing 10 feet away noticeably not busy. He scoffed and replied 'I'm not doing that today' while rolling his eyes. The cashier looked uncomfortable and apologized to me. The manager didn't care if I made a purchase or not. I'm not sure if he was in a bad mood before I came in, but he was unnecessarily rude and unprofessional in a situation that could have easily been treated with more grace. The other Sullivan locations nearby have been amazing with their customer service. I recommend shopping with any one of them instead.

I am a veteran myself so it was an honor and a privilege to support another vet. I was going to get as much as I could there for my current project. I am putting copper grounding rods in the ground for sensitive electronic equipment. I needed the clamps where I could connect copper wire to the clamps and a bit more. I had several smaller hardware needs, and 4 bags of water softener salt to pick up as well. The guy behind the counter greeted me well and asked what I was looking for and pointed me to the end of isle 12. I looked and looked and while he chatted with a couple other customers, I couldn't find what I needed, even after walking most of the store. But he was pretty busy chatting with customers, so I gave up and walked out of the store without buying a thing. I went in there although I was out of my normal area of shopping and considered it an opportunity to support the veteran! Too bad it didn't work out. Oh, and the music was unbelievably loud. I don't recall objecting to the type of music, but you had to raise your voice to talk over the sound level.

Yes its fun to browse all the items, but if you need to be quick, they can take you right to where the item is located because they know their store's layout precisely or know who to ask if they stock your item. I always buy my furnace filters from Ace Hardware and I always buy the Ace brand. They only cost $4 and some change for the ones that last three months. However more than one furnace repairman has told me to only use the 3 months filters for two months and that is what I do. If you need specific screws, bolts and nuts of a certain size, length or strength, their staff will help you find the right ones in their vast inventory of hardware and fasteners. You can buy the exact quantity you need without having to buy a prepackaged amount often sold in big box stores. Big box stores rarely offer the right size you are looking for in single amounts. From grass seed, to gardening tools, to paint and all their accessories, plumbing and toilet seats, hand tools and a few power tools, to electrical supplies and much more, they pretty much have everything you need except lumber. Sometimes I wish they would stock just some basics like 2x4s, but then space is limited and some stock room would have to be sacrificed. Don't forget to sign up for their rewards program. It pays you back in gift cards good at the store.

When not wanting to make the trip to Bloomington, Greenwood, or Camby, they will have what you need for most small and some large home projects. Their outdoor fountain selection is impressive and I've ooh and ahh over then every time. Have scored a ladder late on a weekday evening, floor cleaners, bird feeders and small gifts, and occasional nails nuts and bolts to hang pretties around the house. We were even able to find all of the items to make one of my Pinsperations come to life on a whim a few weeks back and I couldn't be happier with it!

Furnaces and parts for them are available here. Sinks, faucets, drain parts are all here as well. Only 2 employees, so if you live in the neighborhood, you can get to know them and make this your one stop shop for hardware. You can look around in here, but you should really ask to find what you need because some of the stuff they carry is in the back. I really enjoyed my short time here because it reminded me of the hardware store I grew up visiting with my Dad when I was little.
