Finally some fellow NY Dominicans up in Dallas!! Especially hairdressers!…read more I literally went natural because I had no one to do my hair but Jany is great! The salon is new so definitely check her out but the proof is in the pudding! My hair is super silky and soft. The service was quick. I arrived and went straight to the wash seat. The girl that washed my hair and did the roller set was super sweet and we chatted a bunch but she was thorough in washing and did the roller set very neatly and quickly. Jany finished styling me and i LOVE my hair. Disclaimer, the price was higher than I expected so it may limit my frequency but when I need my hair straightened or want to give the curls a rest, I'm going here. I'd recommend her to everyone.

I waited a few years to post this because I can't let it go…read more Rachel didn't pass the vibe check but I didn't take it personal it was still early. I walked in and had to wait over an hour. No big deal I'll catch up on reading. I had my consultation and she went to work. She gave me a perm and cut. It turned out ok. Not the best I've had but she still did a good job. I told her my goal was to eventually lighten my hair and when should I come back. She told me to book for 2 weeks. I returned and she had bleach put in my hair that she permed 2 weeks prior. Not color but bleach! I didn't know what it was when it was initially being applied by her assistant. I should have walked out when the assistant asked 2x if that was what she wanted to put in my hair without saying what it was. My hair now has thinning and has not grown back healthy as it once was. I spent almost $500 in 2 weeks only to have missing patches of hair that turned to straw. After my service her instructions were to make sure I get my protein treatments. Long story short ALL of my hair started to fall out within a week. By week two I had significant loss. I messaged her and instead of taking responsibility she proceeded by protecting herself by saying "I told you this probably wasn't a good idea." THAT WAS A FLAT OUT LIE! She is the professional why would I tell her what to do after being told it would damage my hair. She told me to book 2 weeks out. Better question is, why would she do it if she knew it wasn't a good idea?! Plain and simple GREED! Yes, I made sure to get a protein treatment but was told my hair was dead and needed to be cut all off. The only reason she was not sued is because of my barber Noah who said I should pray for her and chalk it up to a bad experience. His thought was not to destroy her business or reputation. I tried to let it go. I am all for supporting black businesses but SOME black business owners need to do better. The greed, the attitudes, and the over inflated prices need to be addressed. Rachel basically took my money, destroyed my hair, all with an attitude. I HAVE RECEIPTS SO IF YOU DECIDE TO RESPOND, DO IT HONESTLY.

Diva Styles was the most cleanest salon I've ever been to, I was instantly greeted as I walked in on my first visit by one of the stylist. I was seated, as I sat I looked around this very spacious salon, whom ever did the decor I loved it! This place has a urban but classy vibe to it. They play nice music (that's enjoyable) and again did I mention how clean it was? I was introduced to Natashia, While she was already working on a client head. Natashia was very sweet/ quick and prompt when it came to styling my hair, her associate and I had a good conversation while she shampoo my hair, once I was done shampooing, I was blowed dried out and Natashia begin her amazing process to doing my silk press. I advised the stylist I have heat damage and damage from bleaching. The hair wash was nicely done but the actual styling was terrible. I have thinner hair so separating each thin curl was alittle strange. My curls are typically clumped together. A LOT OF HAIR SPRAY WAS USED. I walked in with silky soft hair (which she said 2x) I left out with extremely stiff & dry hair. The cut I received was a trim when I expected each curl to cut individually. 2nd issue. Then I went to check out and still charged me $175 for the service. The owner saw me sitting in the chair and saw me checking out knowing I didn't look happy and my hair looked terrible. I walked out the building feeling embarrassed as my hair looked terrible. Charging someone full price when their hair looked a complete mess is not ok. 3rd issue. I actually went home had to wash the crazy amount of hair spray out my hair, add some oil for moisture (which the stylist never used), I cut my ends and styled correctly. This was not the salon for me or for anyone who is African American or of a mixed race. I would truly appreciate a refund because I didn't learn anything from the stylist & my hair looked worse than I came in.

I went to Isis for hair braiding lessons. I have 2 little girls under 5 and the cost to get their…read morehair braided is $40 each every 2 weeks (just over $2,000 a year!) I decided there had to be a better way so I started looking into hair braiding lessons and that was when I found Isis. She answered the phone right away when I called and was sweet and helpful. 2 days later a friend and I went in for lessons. 30 minutes into the lesson I had completed my first cornrow ever! 3 hours later I had finished a complete hairstyle on my 4 year old. Isis coached us through the whole thing and also taught us how to "feed" their hair from the inside-out through the right vitamins and the right food choices. She also showed us how to gently braid hair without all of the harmful pulling and combing that tends to happen at your typical braid shop. And she showed us how to braid in hair when you want to add some length to the cornrow. I went in looking for a cornrow lesson and walked out enlightened and empowered. I will save a ton of money this year thanks to Isis and my baby girls will be looking fab. Thank you Isis for being so amazing.
