I first heard about Hotworx on social media, and saw there was a studio opening soon near me. I…read morewent to an open house late last year during their construction and signed up. I was locked in for 3 months at a discounted monthly rate. There were some delays in opening, but once they did, I went to a grand opening to chat with the franchise owner and other reps about my membership. I purchased their mat & towel (made to withstand the heat) at a discounted price, got a tour, and experienced my first workout. There are 9 saunas and each has a monitor with virtual instructor workouts. The cardio HIIT workouts include bikes, rowers, and ellipticals. The other workouts include low-intensity classes such as yoga, pilates, bands, barre, etc. Aside from the hot classes, they have a separate workout section with hand weights and a weight machine. Members are given their own access to the studio, which is open 24/7. We can book classes on the app. Each sauna allows up to 3 people at once, but I prefer booking a solo class. The benefits of a hot workout are explained on the videos. I like it. It's tough, but a great workout and they definitely make you sweat. I also follow their facebook group for tips, and go on their website to get more information on each class offered.

I was a client here for about a year and a half. During that time, I did incredibly deep trauma…read morework utilizing EMDR and uncovered many painful layers of my past. I'm grateful for the work I was able to do but I feel it's important to share some of the struggles I experienced as well for those looking for trauma-informed care. Unfortunately, my sessions were increasingly impacted by my therapist falling asleep during them, including during some of my most vulnerable moments and I was left at times to awkwardly direct my own sessions knowing no one was listening. This was the only therapist I'd ever made it past the "second date" with and I gave so much grace despite this happening multiple times because there's another wound of tolerating things that don't feel good for too long. Plus I like her as a human. Additionally, the time prior to this, when I finally had the courage to bring it up after blatant sleeping and not just nodding off, we had talked about and I specifically said that I don't care if you're too tired and you don't realize it until the moment I'm sitting in the office, I would rather you tell me that and I go home than that ever happening again. At that time, my husband changed his work schedule so that I could get in earlier in the day. This last time, yesterday, I had just opened the session with how therapy was the only place I felt safe enough to feel lately. Joke was on me. To look over and see the therapist asleep mirrored so much of my childhood pain and completely broke my trust for the last time. Only this time, I was able to get up and walk out which is a testament to how much work I've done and what I've accomplished. She didn't need to choose me yesterday because I finally did. In addition to that, communication with the office as a whole was very difficult. Calls and emails often go unanswered. One day when I took my daughter to the Gahanna office and was waiting in the waiting room, the admin person and another therapist were talking openly about people and I refused to ever wait in the waiting room again after that and would wait in the car for my daughter's session to be done. I've heard other clients saying they can't get ahold of anyone at the office and it's been weeks. Mistakes happen, people are human, but in an industry where clients are doing heavy emotional work, the bar seems to be set real low at Renew Wellness. I don't know where I'm headed and I'm not worried about it like I was last time when I panicked thinking I'd have to be starting over from the beginning with someone new because I know I'm going to be alright! I'm not starting over at all, I am continuing. With more clarity, more self trust, a deeper understanding of what I deserve and a knowing that I'm not too much. You're not either. I don't share this out of bitterness, but out of a hope that others like me who have been conditioned to tolerate too much know that they're allowed to expect presence, responsiveness, and safety in their healing spaces.

Mental health awareness is no joke, especially for our youth. Please take this review seriously and…read morewhen looking for practices to treat minors, DO NOT go to Renew Wellness.
