Ok ok hear me out-- we need to establish that tpumps can't be ranked against fancy boba places like chagee or molly tea. Obviously those places are higher end and will have higher quality drinks. BUT if you're in the area and are craving that nostalgic "old school" boba kind of taste then this is the place for you! Completely customizable, pick your flavors (aka syrups), green or black tea, milk or no milk, and choice of toppings. I think it's nice that boba is already included in the pricing so you don't have to pay extra. I got lychee passion fruit green tea with boba ($5.50) "extra light sweet"-- not sure what the sweetness percentage was on that but it worked out great for me! Also, I love passion fruit flavor but recently all the other places have been putting seeds in them and I'm not a fan of crunching on those seeds so I haven't ordered passion fruit tea in a really long time. Head into the back of the shop to place your order at the register. I'm not sure how sweetness customization works here; I just asked for 75% sugar which was marked as "light". The green milk tea with honey boba ($5.50) came in a huge 24 oz cup. It tasted alright. The tea flavor was very light, and I couldn't really tell that it was green tea. You get much more tea than boba, but I suppose that explains the low price. The boba was big, chewy, and soft - not mushy, but way softer than I prefer. I wasn't getting honey or brown sugar flavor. Today, I saw a flyer for a cookie dough milk tea and I wanted to try it so bad! But I like to stick to what I know. On this particular occasion, I ordered my usual order which is a brown sugar milk tea with easy mini boba (new) and less sweet. When I got my drink, I did not know the new mini boba was white. I was not a fan. The barista who made my drink could clearly tell there was something wrong. I told her I did not like the mini boba they used (after I tried it) and she said she would remake it. The drink itself was perfectly fine. I was just expecting the mini boba to be honey mini boba, not white. It does taste different to me. Thankfully, the barista fixed my drink and I left a happy customer. I appreciated that she did not give me a difficult time for not enjoying the mini boba in my drink. You can taste both the mango and the passionfruit in the drink. It was a little bit fragrant which I can be a little sensitive too but it wasnt too bad in this drink. Tpump's newest location is now open (as of today), which can be found in old town Monrovia, specifically between TLC Nail Spa & Sugarland. After finding out from Tpump's facebook page that they are now open, my husband, our little girl dog and I decided to come out this evening to grab a drink. Being that it is Tuesday, all drinks automatically get a free upgrade to the large size (only for cold drinks). This special is every Tuesday and available at all their locations. I am no stranger to this Taiwanese tea house chain and frequent the location in Pasadena and am glad that they decided to open up in Monrovia (I am loving that Monrovia is getting some more Asian eateries). For newbies, you can choose up to 3 flavors from the menu, then the type of tea (black, green, decaf), type of milk, sweetness level and topping. Please note that the price includes 1 topping (except popping boba cost $0.75 extra). With so many different flavors to choose from (all syrup based), it is hard to decide what to get, especially since they can make over 300 different combinations from the flavors that they have on hand. I usually like to order from the customer's favorite list but my husband likes to try different variations each time we come to Tpumps. Anyways, on this visit, we ended up getting: Almond Roca Raspberry Vanilla With Black Tea & Popping Boba ($3.50 + $0.75)- My usual drink, I requested this drink to be made with no ice and light sweetness. Typically Tpumps drinks are on the sweet side and if you prefer your drinks to be made with 50% sweetener at other tea houses then light sweetness (sweetness can only be ordered by no sweet, light, normal and very) will be similar. The combination of these flavors together, mixed with milk and black tea gives a nice smooth taste at every sip. The strawberry popping boba was made perfectly and is always fun to pop. Mango Strawberry Black Tea ($3.50)- My husband opted for this drink to be made with no ice, light sweetness and with boba. I didn't have any of his drink but he thought it was refreshing and consistent with the location in Pasadena. The boba was made perfectly, having a nice chew. --------------------------------- (Total= $7.75, tax included) Although there was a line to order, wait time was pretty quick. I like the set up this location a little more than Pasadena because there are a few benches inside to sit and also 2 benches outside (which is where my little girl dog and I waited for my husband while he was inside ordering). Right after we got our drinks, the owner was so sweet to bring out a cup of water for our dog and water for this other couple's dog, whom was sitting on the bench next to us. I love that the owner was thoughtful to offer our dog water, especially when we did not ask and it wasn't even a hot evening. Hands down my favorite boba shop. A but nostalgic from high school fundraisers, but I really enjoy their green milk tea. It's always fun to sample the day's tea on the way to the counter. I've learned that they have a location in Monrovia and that's even closer to where I live! The ordering process is the same but what I like about this location is that there's more parking in comparison to the Pasadena area. They have parking out in front but there's lot's of street parking when you make a turn on the next street over (Lime ave? I think.) As for the drinks, the consistency has always been the same. The drinks are good since you can mix up to 3 different flavors and honestly I don't think there's no such thing as a bad combination. Disappointed that regular here has much fewer boba than promo one in Pasadena. Maybe it's the man who prepared it who is "conservative" with boba. I do want to enjoy more than 10-12 pieces though. They have a lot of flavors to choose from but ultimately the end result is a good old-fashioned cup of milk tea. I have had it a couple of times. I ordered the lavender vanilla green milk tea with boba and light sweet. The tea and boba are good. Pretty strong tea and very flavorful honey boba. The boba taste very much like honey boba and not flavorless tapioca. Some things I do not like are that the drink itself is probably 2x the amount of sugar (at least it seems) than other boba spots. When I first ordered they told me to get light sugar. I naturally thought that would be 50% sweet. I had it and was astonished how sweet it was. After two more times getting it I realized they had very light sweet which is actually 50%. Light sweet: 75%. Still at very light sweet is pretty sweet and wonder if they have 25%. Besides the sweetness, I wish they would add more boba. They don't add much boba, sometimes I noticed a worker will put a little more in. This is the Tpumps located in Monrovia! I came here because my friend and I had just had sushi close by. I had been to the Pasadena location but never this one, so we decided to give it a try. I have always loved the concept of Tpumps and the customization of flavors and mixology. It was my friend's first time at a Tpumps so I was excited to show her what they had to offer. Walking in, I noticed how clean and spacious this location was compared to the Pasadena one. It was bright and welcoming. We were greeted as we walked in and we stood aside to look at the menu. My friend was thinking of what possible combinations would go together and the cashier was super sweet, offering the concoctions they had come up with for the day, which she ended up ordering one of them. I ended up getting an decaffeinated drink with lemon, guava and strawberry and basil seeds (boba bran). It was perfectly sweet and it didn't taste like syrup water, which I was afraid of because it was my first time getting a non-tea drink from Tpumps. Since this is a very grab-and-go type of location, we paid for our drinks, got it at the bar and left to walk around the area.
