Firearms Unlimited was one of the evening's sponsors and my wife ended up winning a purse along with an M&P Shield 9mm. Once the auction had concluded we met with one of the FU owners who took down our information and gave us instructions on where their store is located so that we could go begging the DROS on the pistol. This morning my wife and I arrived right around the time they opened and we were greeted by a young man named Tom. We explained that she had won the pistol and were here to begin the process. My wife is pretty familiar with firearms since target shooting is one of the things we enjoy doing together but this would be her first purchase. I made sure ahead of time that she had all her documentation in order, but explained that she would have to take the FSC test. Tom was very friendly with both of us and got her started on the test right away which she was able to complete and did well on. Tom walked her through filling out her 4473 on the computer and it was a very pleasant experience. Aside from DROSing her pistol, I had a firearm that I needed to ship to an FFL in Texas and Tom was able to help me out with that as well by performing the FFL transfer and preparing a shipping label for me. This morning's visit was about as easy and as personable as it could get and I really like the family-owned business feeling I got when walking in this store. They are closed Sundays which the owner had told me at the RMEF is because Sundays are for family which I really appreciate. Thank you Tom and Firearms Unlimited for the great experience and top-tier service! See you guys when we come to pick up my wife's pistol!

He was upfront and honest and very helpful. when I came into the store to look at the weapon, he was even more helpful. He gave me info and even further proof that I was purchasing quality, he showed me it was his weapon of choice for daily carry. Most guns stores have the "holier than thou" attitudes however, both Eryk and Zane were super knowledgeable of the current laws in CA and answered all questions regarding changes to the current laws (restrictions/bans/etc.) which made me, the customer feel right at home. Purpose: I was there to buy a gun. they could have easily just started the DOJ/CA background check/etc taken my money and sent me on my way, but they went out of their way to assist, answering other questions regarding AR's and pistols. Additionally, they showed me potential upgrades to the weapon I was purchasing and gave me the pros and cons of certain brands. Where most gun stores/dealers would gladly have you buy extra junk or parts you don't need or want, they gave me honest opinions even if it didn't benefit them. I was thankful for their customer service, and because of that I am a future customer.

I formally express my dissatisfaction with the handling of a firearm purchase that was defective…read morestraight out of the box, and the unacceptable customer service response I received. For clarity, the timeline is as follows: The firearm was picked up on November 15. It was stored, unused, as it was intended to be a Christmas gift. The firearm was gifted on December 25 and attempted to be used for the first time on December 26, at which point it was immediately found to be non-functional. The firearm was returned to Turners on December 29, promptly after discovering the defect. This was not a case of wear, misuse, or buyer's remorse; the firearm never functioned as intended. In fact, during the return visit, the store manager personally inspected and tested the firearm and determined that the firing pin was not striking the cartridge with sufficient force, confirming that the firearm was defective. Despite this confirmed defect, I was informed that because the issue was identified ten days past the 30-day window, I would be required to pay $50 out of pocket to ship the firearm back to the manufacturer. What makes this demand particularly unreasonable is the fact that Ruger provides a free prepaid shipping label for warranty returns. Rather than assisting or advocating on behalf of your customer, Turners chose to ignore the manufacturer's established warranty process and instead imposed an unnecessary and punitive fee for a defect that existed at the time of sale. Let me be very clear: A firearm that fails immediately upon first use and is confirmed by your own manager to be mechanically defective is not a return issue. It is a defective product. Penalizing a customer for discovering a manufacturing defect days outside an arbitrary policy window, especially under normal and foreseeable circumstances such as a Christmas gift, is neither reasonable nor customer-focused. The policy, as applied here, shifts responsibility away from the retailer and onto the customer for a problem that Turners sold in non-working condition. That is unacceptable. I did not purchase a discounted or as-is item; I purchased a new firearm with the expectation that it would function properly and that the retailer would stand behind the product if it did not. What further compounds this issue is the complete lack of discretion or advocacy shown by the staff. No attempt was made to escalate the matter, no consideration was given to the fact that the firearm never worked and was confirmed to be defective, and no effort was made to resolve the situation in a fair or reasonable way. Instead, I was met with a rigid policy and told to pay $50, despite the manufacturer already offering a no-cost warranty shipping solution. Turners' reputation is built on trust, responsibility, and service--especially in an industry where safety and reliability are paramount. This experience reflects none of those values.
