This place is amazing. I have been searching for a reloading gear spot for sometime now. Many places list themselves on Yelp under reloading supplies but then carry little to no actual reloading supplies. These guys carry anything a reloader at any skill level could dream of. Mike and Rich (or Rick sorry if I got that wrong) were awesome. So friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. At first the prices do seem a bit high but when you calculate shipping and hazmat charges from ordering online plus waiting a week or more for the supplies to arrive the prices are totally in line. Really nice store tucked away into a corner of El Cajon. The place is small and the aisles are narrow because the store is packed wall to wall! I was like a kid in a candy store, my eyes were everywhere! Prices are higher than big box stores but cash remains king. 1-16-2021 Update to my old review. So I stopped in and purchased a used die for .223. Upon getting to use it the first piece would not enter smooth (yes, it was lubed). Well it ended up getting stuck. I was fortunate enough to get the case removed from the die with out marring the die. I returned to the shop and asked them what I was doing wrong, they looked at the die and the shop owner comes back with a new one and says try that. Wow, not what I expected but great service. THANK YOU. Before using the new die I decided to use that die on my single stage press since I expect a good deal of force needs to be exerted to get this fired brass back into spec. Well I needed a shell holder that they were out of and this same owner that had helped me with the die found one in their shop and was kind enough to sell it to me. I've been to LMC ammo for the 1st time about two weeks ago and 2 more times in the past two weeksl Reason for going was to buy a black powder revolverof some sort because of California's gun law restrictions. I ended up with a pietta 1858 new army revolver. Myself not knowing anything about muzzleloaders, Mike was very helpful going over the gun itself. Myself not knowing anything about the value (I should of done my research first) of muzzleloaders. As stated above, I bought an 1858 Pietta New Army Model revolver, and afterwards looked up the price online and LMC's price was consistent with what i looked up. I went back a week later, and bought a Traditions 50 cal Flintlock rifle with a 24" barrel with a1/48" twist. Again the value was actually a little cheaper than online models. Especially when you think of tax and shipping charges, plus you have to wait to get the rifle. read more

I've been going to LMC for quite a few years, this will be my first Yelp review for them. They don't advertise a whole lot, but they're very well known in the San Diego firearms community as being the place you go when you can't find a very specific thing you're looking for. Don't get me wrong, they've got the stuff you can get at Turner's as well, but if you need a 400gr projectile for a .416 Weatherby Magnum, this is the place you'll find it. You will also get expert advice on reloading that cartridge and probably a few funny stories to go along with it! This day and age you can get almost anything on the internet, but this is truly one of the places I will frequent over a cheaper price online. Rick Vanriter at La Mesa Collectibles is the bomb. The nicest guy you'll ever meet in a gun store. At the time of this review, he is waiting for his FFL to sell firearms, since he moved from La Mesa. The new address is in El Cajon at 1485 N. Magnolia Ave, El Cajon, Ca 92020 Their telephone number is 619-444-9291. If you are into reloading ammo, you must check out this store. Powder prices are good. Primer pricing is a bit high compared to gun shows or the interweb. They have a huge selection of reloading odds and ends. This store is as good as it gets for reloading supplies in San Diego county. Rick is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet, and the other employees are just as nice. Bullet (i'm talking reloading components, not cartridges. If you don't know the difference, look it up! ) pricing seemed high on the shelf labels, but knowing Rick, you can probably ask for a better deal. I hope this store does well and stays open. As a customer, I stopped by La Mesa Collectables yesterday and bought a bag of reloading supplies... After my transaction was complete; I ran into an old friend inside the store who had been helped by the shop owner... The old friend and I were visiting for a few minutes when the owner of the store asked us both to leave his store - FOR TALKING TO EACH OTHER - I WAS SHOCKED I asked the store owner if he wanted to refund my purchase and if he wanted my future business. I was surprised when he said of course he wanted my business, and then he blurted out El Cajon Gun Exchange shows its customer less respect I doubt if I will be going back to La Mesa Collectables, he lost at least one good paying customer for his short-sided thinking and unwelcome attitude; I will be finding another source for my guns and reloading components in the future. This place is great! Recently my family aquired an old gun, some ammunition and a couple of knives we know nothing about so after a quick google search. We found lmc ammo and gave them a call. Mike answered the phone and was very friendly and helpful. We had to call again because my gps took us to a parking lot in the back and Mike did what siri couldnt and made sure we knew how to get to the front parking lot. We brought in what we had and Rick greeted us as friendly as can be, he was beyond educated and had all the information we needed. What was missing from the gun, the things that we could do with it, how to remove the rust that had built up on the knives, and how to maintain the leather scabbard that the gun came in. We got some black rock leather n rich and now our gun scabbard has a future:) We even had our 1 year old daughter with us and Rick and Mike were both great with her. Saying hello and just all around giving our little person the time of day! We need places like this and people like Rick and Mike! Good warm home town feeling! We stopped in to buy ammo for my Bulgarian Makarov (which they had). These guys were extremely knowledgable. Offer re-loading classes, talked to my husband about the equipment he received in a trade and were immensely entertaining. I was looking 30mm rings to mount a scope to my Anschutz 1770 rifle. After calling and visiting several shops who couldn't help, I came upon LMC. Bill had the rings, mounted the scope to my riffle and bore sighted it for me. All the people there are very knowledgable, have a great attitude and give great customer service, I will be going back for ammo and reloading supplies, and maybe learn a thing or two. Can't believe I haven't visited this place before. Kind of pricey, but they HAVE stuff. Do they ever! Lots of interesting stuff and the largest selection of bullets I've seen in a good long while. They didn't have the particular bullets I was after but I walked out with an 8# keg of my favorite powder for not much more than I'd have paid online after shipping & hazmat.
