For a new purchase, it's was great. For warranty service,…read morenot so great. The service rep that I spoke to over the phone kept calling me honey. I didn't appreciate that. She also said that the obnoxious noise coming from my truck was normal. I figure that I didn't pay for this noise, then they should fix it. That didn't happen. I'm disappointed, and I don't plan on returning for a new purchase, for an SUV. I'll go to a Honda SUV.

TL;DR: I had a used vehicle purchase confirmed by a manager at Salem Ford. I offered to fill out…read morethe paperwork via DocuSign that day but was told to come in person, at an agreed upon time. Only after I made the drive from Boston was I told the vehicle had been sold to someone else. To make matters worse, the assistant manager offered to reimburse my gas for the wasted trip, then rescinded that offer ten minutes later. If you have the option, go somewhere else! On Tuesday, October 27, 2026 I confirmed the purchase of a used vehicle from Salem Ford. The purchase price and an arrangement for new tires had been agreed upon by both my salesperson and the sales manager. I asked whether DocuSign was an option so we could get the paperwork started remotely. I was told that I needed to come in person. However, because my salesperson was off the following day (Wednesday, October 28), we agreed to Thursday after 11:00 a.m. I arrived at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, having made the trip from out of state specifically to sign the paperwork, only to discover that the vehicle had been sold to someone else the night before. This came as a surprise to both me and my salesperson, highlighting a serious lapse in coordination within the dealership. It was especially disappointing considering that I had confirmed the purchase in writing, proactively offered to begin the paperwork remotely, and followed the dealership's instructions about when to come in. After this major breakdown in communication and basic sales etiquette, the assistant manager acknowledged the inconvenience and told me that the least they could do was reimburse me for my gas. Spoiler alert! That promise didn't hold up either. About ten minutes later, he returned to tell me that reimbursement wasn't possible. My recommendation is if you have another dealership you can do business with, go there. Based on my experience, I would not trust Salem Ford to honor its commitments, even when they're made in writing.

Here is the revised review with both references to "the general manager" replaced with your…read morerequested wording. I've kept the rest unchanged. We purchased our vehicle in mid-September. Our experience was mixed, but one person deserves tremendous credit for making the sale: Mattaeus Zwirmbaum. Had it not been for Mattaeus and the way he treated us, we would have walked away. Mattaeus was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. He patiently answered all my questions, no matter how minor, even after the purchase was complete. He never made me feel rushed or that my questions were inconvenient, and he encouraged me to call if I had any further questions. His patience and willingness to help made a lasting impression. Mattaeus earned our business, and the dealership is fortunate to have him. Unfortunately, our experience with management was considerably less positive. We had an appointment with someone (whose name doesn't appear on the dealership's website as of today) to see a specific vehicle. He ended up not being available for the appointment. The specific car we came to see also wasn't available. We were told it had been lent to another dealership for use as a loaner vehicle. We explained that not being able to see the car we had made an appointment for would most likely be a deal breaker and asked our salesperson, Mattaeus, if there was anything that could be done. The dealership retrieved the vehicle, so we were able to see it. However, toward the end of our visit, after the paperwork had been signed, we were told the car had been intended for display at a local festival. The conflicting explanations left us questioning the transparency of the situation. Our first offer included approximately $15,000 worth of options that we hadn't agreed to purchase at that point. Since $15,000 represented nearly half the price of the new vehicle, the amount was shocking. It would have been helpful to know about the cost of the options and have agreed to them before they appeared on the first offer paperwork. After reviewing the options, we decided on just one. Its price seemed steep, so we asked if we could meet somewhere in the middle. The finance manager responded that the dealership doesn't give away cars as charity. We weren't asking for a free car, just trying to negotiate a reasonable compromise on one option. The comment was unnecessary and off-putting, and his demeanor came across as aggressive. We were also told the dealership makes just under $500 per vehicle sold. Given the size of the dealership and its apparent overhead, that claim was difficult for us to reconcile and did little to improve our confidence in the negotiation process. We requested a 48-month loan, but the paperwork presented showed a 60-month loan. No explanation was provided for the change. Fortunately, we had alternate financing and used it after the sale, so this wasn't a significant issue for us. However, it could matter greatly to a buyer relying on the dealership for financing. Clear communication about financing terms is important. Finally, the person we had the appointment with did make an appearance. He enthusiastically congratulated us on our purchase before we had signed the paperwork or finalized the deal. It felt premature while we were still working through the details. Ultimately, we did buy the vehicle, and Mattaeus Zwirmbaum deserves the credit. His professionalism, patience, and willingness to help during and after the sale stood in stark contrast to our other interactions. He provided the kind of customer service that makes customers feel valued. I hope the dealership recognizes Mattaeus's value and takes a closer look at how customers are treated during management, negotiation, and financing. A great salesperson can make a difference, but the rest of the team needs to support that experience rather than jeopardize it. If you're considering this dealership, I can wholeheartedly recommend Mattaeus Zwirmbaum. He treated us with respect, answered our questions, and continued to offer help after the sale. He is the reason we bought our car and deserves recognition for his excellent customer service. A Few Words of Advice for Car Buyers * Get pre-approved before you shop. Know what you can afford and have financing terms to compare with the dealership's offer. * Remember, you can walk away. If sharp or unnecessary comments turn you off, or you don't feel respected, you're free to end negotiations and take your business elsewhere. * If a car you've made an appointment to see isn't available when you arrive, consider your options. Depending on the circumstances and explanation, you may decide to proceed or walk away. Everyone has different priorities and comfort levels. These are simply suggestions to consider when making the decision that's right for you. Matteaus rocks!

When I got there they were swapping off different parts from the same make and model but different year truck. The check engine light was on and all they did was clear it. They couldn't get their story straight on what the check engine light was for. They said it was on for the mirror which makes so sense at all. It was missing the windshield washer cap under the hood. They sprayed an oil undercoat to cover all the rust and rot. The truck bed had several rot holes straight through it. The brake light was on but the parking brake was not engaged. They were rudely trying to haggle after I already said I was going to pass, and even offered to switch parts back and forth between the two trucks. The salesman Connor said the check engine light was on but he didn't know what for then when we looked at the truck it was cleared and he said "Oh! They must've fixed the problem." And then after someone else came out he magically knew what it was for. When I took the truck for a test drive in had an exhaust manifold tick as well. I'm upset I even wasted my time with this dealership.

However, upon entering the building we were greeted warmly by John Desrochers and Michael Quigley. Both of them quickly put my preconceived experience to rest. Michael was very friendly and knowledgeable about the Honda, wasn't pushy at any time and I actually enjoyed negotiating with him. He took his time explaining some of the cars features and never hurried our test drive. We genuinely feel he got us the best deal he could on both the car we were buying and the car we were trading in. His follow up after the sale is to be commended as well. Because of Michael and John and our overall experience thus far at Rockingham Honda, I would not hesitate to make another purchase or recommend them to anyone.
