Visiting our son at CSULB and my record loving husband found this spot. Loads of different stuff. Lots of Japanese imports. Lots of ska and punk but other genres were represented. Tons of punk tshirts in drawers under record racks. Staff was helpful and pleasant. I got a text from my husband saying "leave me here forever" and I think he may be serious. Super cool selection of different genres of records. I walked out with some nice soul, rock, punk, and jazz. I'm old and when you're old , you can be more open to different stuff . But the best part of this store was meeting Andy, the owner who was very helpful offering his suggestions when I asked about bands I was not familiar with. I have been a costumer for going on 3 years now and it's always my first stop when in LBC. I live about a hour away but make the day my way out beee because I know the selection and prices are worth the distance. Walked in to Toxic Toast on Saturday and what an amazing gem of a record store...great Punk and Ska selection and without the hipster inducing prices! Dude at the counter was so cool and welcoming, breath of fresh air from the dicks spewing the "I know more than you" mentalities of other shops! Was able to score their rare Vampira with Satan's Cheerleaders album and damn is it cool! Will definitely be back often!!! read more

Great quaint venue and super authentic, sweet staff. They've got hard to find legit gems ... just picked up a 12" Soul Coughing Sugar Free Jazz and couldn't be more stoked. By far my favorite record store, ever. One of the employees, Zachary, is kind and knowledgable, especially when it comes to extreme music genres (black metal, power electronics, etc) and the gems you will find here are far beyond anything you'll find in other local record stores if you're a serious collector. First time I went I found a Velvet Cacoon LP in incredible condition and I was sold. Not to mention he has a side project in which he sells even more obscure/underground bands. The whole staff is also easy and fun to talk to as well as a wealth of knowledge. 1000% recommended. read more

The manager &/ employee were really helpful, knowledgeable and patient. They stayed open an hour later than when they closed, to look up all the records i had brought in, (sorry guys) hah. I luckily found Toxic Toast during their soft open and I'm really excited to have found a great new record store in Long Beach. The store is on the smaller side but it's all killer, no filler. Tons of original pressing and Japanese and UK imports and all the shirts and patches, etc. are band/label sanctioned. Every punk store I've gone out looking for since moving to Los Angeles has leaned heavily on the darker hardcore side of things but it's nice to find a store that is basically my bedroom from high school, with a bigger leaning toward pop-punk, ska and an eclectic mix of lots of other stuff. On my first trip I found Hotknives "Screams Dreams and Custard Creams" on vinyl, one of my favorite ska records of all time, which I never imagined finding on LP and also one of Mr. T Experience's albums on vinyl which I had gone to Amoeba the month before and failed to find. I called to inquire about an LP listed on eBay, and the staff was so welcoming I decided to drive to Long Beach from LA, and I am glad I did. This isn't a huge store, but they make up for that with their incredible inventory. This store is especially great for those who are looking for unique hard to find pressings. I was able to find several Japanese Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Metallica pressings. The prices are fair and the LP's in nice condition. read more
