I'd arrived in town with reservation elsewhere, but that place was...well..it should probably be condemned. So on one of the busiest weeks of the year, I was looking for a replacement six-night stay with two beds in a room, breakfast (ideally) and clean, safe environment. I found it and more at TownePlace Suites, thanks to host Douglas who searched me out a room that would work, hunted down my old Marriott membership number, and reserved the space 'til I could cancel my existing reservation and get myself across town. Though the price point initially set me back on my heels, he won me over with his promise of breakfast, dinners (this week special for Cowboy Poetry Gathering), and a functioning Jacuzzi. (What can I say? It's a long drive out here!) Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by James and another staff member who gave me the rundown. I asked if I could bring my own food down for breakfast "since I have food issues" and James walked me over to the breakfast nook to show off the GLUTEN-FREE and DAIRY-FREE options that are there on the regular, from rolls and muffins to soymilk within arm's reach. In my room, I found a kitchenette complete with clean, cool fridge/freezer, a sink, microwave, dishwasher, dishware and utensils and enough pots and pans to cook on the two burner built-in hotplate/electric stove top. There were two clean, nicely made beds, a clean bathroom, table large enough for four people, and two easy chairs, and more. SOLD! Yes, pricier than others. When we first checked into our hotel room, we immediately noticed that the refrigerator/freezer was not working (Needed for my wife's medication). Then my wife used the toilet, it had flushing issues too!! These things should be checked as part of the cleaning process. They kindly moved us to a different room with same accommodations, with a better layout. Which we were very pleased taking care of these issues quickly & friendly. Check-in was quick and easy. The room had everything you need in it. There were two closets and plenty of drawer space if you need it. The shower had a black hair stuck to the wall. Our terrier insisted that there was a mouse hiding behind the wall where there was a hole under the sink for the sink drain to go to. We'll never know if there was, but dogs' noses don't usually lie. Hopefully they let their staff know about these issues and work to correct them. Overall it was a good stay despite these two issues. read more

I'm stingy with any kind of A+ ratings but this place was phenomenal--for its rate class or really for any hotel I've stayed in, luxury or other wise. Immense attention to detail. Friendly staff who seem to enjoy working there. Thoughtful amenities: the prepaid breakfast selection is unusually thorough, the dog relief area is ideal (real grass!), and there are reviews and QR codes for nearby restaurants posted in the elevator. One quibble: Please keep the relief area stocked with poop bags as it will help less resourceful guests (not us!) keep things cleaner there and not give us pet-owning travelers a bad name. This is my third hotel to stay in Elko. I'm happy to report that I've found THE ONE! This place will be my go-to from now on. First, I had planned to stay here back in March, but my husband got sick and had to cancel the reservation in very last minute. I called, and the staff who answered the phone was very kind and understanding. The way she treated me just put my mind to ease in a very stressful situation. That's when I decided to stay here whenever the next chance arrived. Fast forward, late August, my friend and I had a short trip to Utah and the first night was in Elko. I didn't hesitate to pick this hotel, and boy I was happy I did that. First of all, online check-in process was easy. Although it was well ahead of the check-in time, I was notified that the room was ready right away. I thanked the front desk for letting us check in so early, and they smiled and said "Don't worry, we got you!" I love being treated like friends visiting good friends! The entire hotel is squeaky clean. The room is spacious. The kitchen is fab! Quiet. A little welcome drink and light dinner served in the lobby was like... Too good to be true! Too bad we were staying only one night, but next year I'd love to stay here longer for my solo artist's retreat! read more

Stopped here on the way to CA and we weren't disappointed. The best way I can describe Townplace Suites is space efficient, but it's not in a bad way. It's probably one of the smallest hotel rooms I've been in and yet it has a KITCHEN! And cabinets with real plates and bowls and pans and a full sized fridge! Admittedly you are not going to add a trundle bed easily, but for a couple, it's all you need and more. Besides a kitchen, there was a sofa and an expandable desk with a wall organizer. The bed was comfortable, two types of pillows, extra blanket in the closet (a full closet in the bathroom!). Breakfast was, likewise, space efficient, but they had so many choices in the space - more than I can remember, but waffle maker, 6 hot entrees, oatmeals and yogurts and TOPPINGS! Bagels, fruit, muffins, dry cereals, milk AND milk alternatives... and there was more. To drink there was juices, tea bags (quite a variety), and coffee with creamers. Lastly, every member of the staff greeted us with a smile. When we left the next morning I had part of a meal from the night before that I wanted to take with me and Ellie and Toby were more than happy to set me up with bags and ice to keep it cool on the road. Toby also stopped by to check in while we're eating breakfast and told us about the history of nearby Windover. It was a comfortable stay, and - if we come back this way - wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. read more

Terrible front desk experience! I have spent 22 days there over the past 12 months for work and this was the first time I had an experience like this. My co-worker and I were in the hot tub while these 3 teenage boys were tossing a plastic football around. After the first time the ball landed in the hot tub I asked them if they could move to the other end so we don't get hit. After the ball whizzed by head nearly striking me I explained the situation to the parents. After the third time, the ball hit me and knocked over spilling my drink. I then went and notified the front desk (think her name was Tree) who told me there is no policy against the kids playing with objects in the pool, however there is a policy against food and beverages in the pool area. I explained when a customer is assaulted by a projectile then policy or not, action needs to be taken. She said there was nothing she could do and I needed to remove my beverage. I had 3 more nights there where I had to endure her openly rude behavior. When we would enter the lobby she would come out from the back office with a smile, then change to a scowl when she saw us, turn around and return to the back. I have chosen this particular location because of the indoor hot tub despite the multitude of inconveniences I have experienced there. The hot tub was out of commission for over 6 months, one room wreaked of urine, there are often questionable stains on the sofa and furniture that appears to be scratched by a cat, broken furniture, light bulbs out, shower head making loud noises, TV not working and on, and on. I have overlooked that EVERY TIME I have been there something requires attention, but feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome every time I walk in the door is not acceptable. Especially when I was not at fault and made to feel like I was. There's a very nice Hilton across the street I will stay at in the future when I'm in town. read more

Generally an excellent place to stay while in Elko. Suites that include full size fridge and cups, plates, etc to cook in your own room if you prefer. I saw a guest bring their own blender. Pet friendly, need advanced permission, with a doggy area out back. They have a good breakfast with reasonable AM hours even on weekends. They have a pool and laundry facilities. I usually stay here several times a year. read more

Lots of drilling going on above us....not sure if there was construction or what the noise was from...we heard it until 8pm and it started back up at 7 am the next morning.... Hotel is pretty good compared to the rest of the hotels in this area... they're much older... so I would recommend this one over the older ones.... Hubby & I had an one night stay here driving from San Francisco on our way to Moab. We used our Marriott e-certificate. Our room was on the 4th floor two rooms away from the elevator. My profile states far away from the elevator but this was contrary to my preference. Fortunately it was quiet. We arrived around 3pm. Our room was ready. It was stocked with coffee and tea. There was a microwave, a small cooktop, and a fridge. I went to use a fork - one of two in the drawer. Good thing I only needed one. Plates and coffee cups in the cabinet. Housekeeping didn't do a count so not even number of items. We didn't cook so it was a nonissue for us. We didn't make coffee in our room as they've got 24 hour coffee and tea down in the hotel lobby. The next morning we had complimentary breakfast. Hot items prepackaged; oatmeal, yogurt, cold cereal, pastries, and bagels. The only thing missing was fresh fruit. Milk, juice, coffee, etc. It was a brief stay but comfortable stay. read more

Great stay - our stopover between California and Idaho trip. Clean and large rooms - full kitchen is awesome and having a real table instead of a desk to eat on! Great staff - fast check in and super friendly Great Breakfast and Coffee - waffles, oatmeal with fixings (walnut brown sugar raisins), cooked eggs, boiled eggs individually wrapped, and sausages/ham, bread, fruits, yogurts, cereal, even had almond milk togo! Pet friendly had a great backyard for pets to do their thing Safe area and just overall wonderful stay for the price! I don't think our room was cleaned before we stayed here. The corners of the room near the door were very dirty, there were multiple hairs in the bathroom tub, and the kitchen sink looked like it had dried puke in it. This was the dirtiest hotel room I have ever stayed in. I stayed here once previously and the room that time was fine. I will try a different hotel the next time I am in the area. read more

Our truck broke down during a hunting trip and we had to stay two night here waiting for it to get fixed. With no vehicle and no way of knowing what was next, the staff was extremely helpful and did whatever they could to make sure our stay was the easiest part. Super nice room. Granted, I only spent three hours at the hotel for a quick shower and nap, but darn it- it was great! I drove from Colorado Springs to Elko and wished I could have stayed longer. We were traveling through the area so we stayed a night in one of their suites with a kitchen. Overall, the hotel was really nice. There was plenty of parking, it was conveniently located near an Albertsons and the freeway, the staff were friendly and helpful, there was an indoor pool, laundry and fitness room, an outdoor patio with tables and a bbq grill, plus free breakfast. With Covid-19 safety precautions in place, they didn't offer daily housekeeping and their breakfast was to-go only but being able to get a hot breakfast was a nice touch (ie. eggs, sausage, bacon, etc). We liked having a fully equipped kitchen with a sink, refrigerator, stove top, dishes, pots, pans, glasses, silverware, cleaning supplies. They also had small appliances available to borrow but we didn't take advantage of that. The room was a bit more expensive but we were able to offset the cost with making our own dinner from groceries purchased from the nearby Albertsons. read more

Perfect stop if you are needing a pit stop through the area. Super friendly staff greeted us. Even though we booked last minute, they were able to accommodate us with a crib for our son and welcomed our small dog. Enjoyed the late night tea/coffee that was available. The suite was definitely clean and comfortable with everything you could have needed. The bedroom's king bed and pillows were comfortable, as well. Breakfast was a surprise in a good way. They had a variety of warm and cold options (especially with me being gluten free). Even a breakfast treat for our pup! Will put this place on my list to stay again if we are passing through for sure! read more

Have you ever gotten that free upgraded room? Where instead of the "garden view" you got the "Ocean View"? When you got that upgrade were you high fiving your friends or even yourself internally? "Score!!!" Well that's exactly how I felt when I moved from one (unnamed) hotel to the TownePlace Suites by Marriot. First off the front office staff is amazing....so amazing that I am thinking of sneaking into their back office and stealing their coffee or whatever they are drinking that makes them so darn cheerful and helpful. You wouldn't think this kind of service could be had in little ol out in the middle of nowhere Nevada like Elko. Jolene and Matt and all of the staff I have encountered so far have been very helpful, friendly and accommodating. The rooms are top notch for someone staying more than just a night or two. It's been great being able to chill in a home away from home. Can't have everything be all bubbly and perfect. The parking design isn't the best No steps coming up from lower parking areas. Parking is tight if you have a vehicle that isn't a normal sized car and the parking spots might be a little crowded. They are adding some hot items to there continental breakfast. Sounds good, not sure if I am gonna be here when it rolls out or not. But for now it's all carb based breakfasts and the only protein is hard boiled eggs...perfectly cooked I might add. I haven't hit up the gym or used the BBQ outside yet.....but it looks promising! read more

This is our "home away from home"! It was the first hotel we stayed in when moving to Nevada and coming back to see the familiar faces of the staff, Ariel and Lisa make visiting Elko worth wild. They are the sweetest people and make us feel so welcome, even our little dog too! There is a pet fee of $50. The rooms are very well decorated and comfortable. The bathroom is spacious and updated, as well as the kitchen, livingrooms, and bedrooms. The beds are so comfortable! Breakfasts are served until 9am and there is many things to chose from oatmeal to eggs and sausage. The coffee is always fresh, which is delicious when looking out the windows over seeing the beautiful mountain side. It is an hour away from great hiking in Lemoile Canyon and minutes away from restaurants (like McAdoo's), stores and anything else you could possibly need! read more

Really nice !! Pet friendly !! POOL !! Searched all afternoon for a place to stay because we are on a road trip with a dog. So many places were out of rooms or didn't allow dogs (lame) but this place does. We got here and was greeted by a really nice receptionist. The rooms are very clean and so is the lobby/hallways. The air conditioning is a little loud but nothing we can't deal with !! The breakfast was really nice too, nothing out of the ordinary compared to other hotels but it was good. I decided not to give it 5 stars because it was a little pricey compared to other places especially with the $50 extra for the dog. read more

Great group of people that work at this Marriott, I've had worse experiences but not much this is a great experience. Very clean very very nice staff everybody's friendly. It seems like no matter where you go in the hotel somebody's there to help you it's nice, and I really appreciate their fine attendance they give me because I have a bad leg and a bad wrist and all the help I can get I appreciate it.To all the staff I haven't encountered one negative attitude. We stayed for night. Place is clean and staff is friendly but it lacks maintenance and basic amenities. Like the racks in our suite closet were broken, pans provided had scratches( on request we were provided with better pans). There was no dustbin in the room, bathrooms didn't have a hooks to hang and there were no soap for shower or hand wash. read more

My family and our dog did an one night stay while driving across Nevada. There is a $50 pet fee per stay. We got upgraded to a 2 bedroom suite which was very spacious and clean. The room was on the 4th floor. Even though it's on the side facing the highway, noise level was not noticeable. The lady at the front desk was very helpful, explaining all the hotel amenities including the lighted dog run area. When asked, she also offered a great dinner recommendation. In the morning, Linda served breakfast. She was super patient and thoughtful helping us pick out breakfast and chatted with our kids. read more

I'm staying here solely for the points. Albeit the staff is great, the carpet in the elevator is filthy, there is white dog hair in many places. The sales manager had her white lab in the lobby earlier, ergo the dog hair. The room across from mine has a dog in it that keeps barking. They are painting the stairwells and the fumes coming up to the forth floor are almost overwhelming. No an impressive stay. Would not stay here again based off of this stay. A good place if you're a solo traveler with no needs other than a bed to sleep in. They are the ultimate professionals when it comes to NOT accommodating any special requests- well-rehearsed responses with no care in the world with your situation. 1) Called ahead of time advising we had a child with pet-hair allergies, knowing this was a pet-friendly hotel. Sorry, tough luck - all rooms are pet-friendly. Nothing they can do. 2) The sofa pull-out is a "twin-full" size so don't expect 2 kids to sleep on it, unless they're really little. Called and explained we have 2teens that won't fit-can we get a rollaway? "No, sorry. We don't have rollaways". Can we switch rooms? "No -we're sold out". Hotel did not look sold out - it's a Wed onJuly 1. Asked for extra bedding - I'm on the sofa cushions on the floor with a sheet - they brought an extra sheet but forgot to bring an extra pillow. 3) ice is only available on 1st floor (we were on 4th floor). Looked thoroughly through room for an ice bucket. Nothing. Got down to 1st floor - no buckets there. Asked front desk- "you're supposed to use the ice tray in your freezer as a bucket; but I have a bowl u can use". During Covid - no plastic bag or precautions as she handed me a bowl with non-gloved hands. 4) no trash cans in bathrooms or bedrooms; finally found one in the kitchen area 5) wine opener was broken - they're like 99 cents to replace! Alarm clock broken as well. I don't mean to sound snobby because I read this review and think that. It was the nonchalant attitude of the staff (mainly "Summer") - no empathy or care for the customer. Maybe other staffers are nicer?? There are a few other hotels next door- would strongly suggest those for "families". Extremely disappointed. read more

This hotel gives you a gross vibe. The floors weren't clean, and it's outdated. The worst thing is when you walk in it smelt like smoke awfully. I have contacts and I could barely get them in and out bc of how strong the smoke smell was, it kept burning everyone's eyes, and they were bloodshot. I won't stay here again. read more

Stayed here for a week on a business trip. I wasn't expecting much (I'm from Vegas-not to be snobby, just as a reference point). This place is nicer than some of the studio apartments I've lived in! It is probably larger than a New York City apartment. The folks here have really thought of everything. The room comes with everything you could possibly need for an extended stay: full fridge, stove top, microwave, cookware, utensils, serving ware, dish washer, even a salad spinner! I was very impressed. They also have a full hot breakfast each morning which was a lovely way to welcome the day. I will definitely stay here again. read more

Absolutely never again. I stayed here seeking a nice family hotel away from the casinos on our road trip and they absolutely are not!!!! My husband and I and 5 of our kids recently stayed here. When we arrived we were given the wrong room and then had to wait while the correct room was cleaned even though we arrived after check in. We were willing to let this go and not get us down. We had takeout in the room as there is no hotel restraunt and enjoyed our one night stay. A few days later I noticed our card was mysteriously charged $100 seperately from our room charge. I called back and asked why this was done. I was told I would have call back in the morning when a manager was there. I had to call back and the female manager told me that Matt the other manager was the one handling it and he would call me back when he got in around noon. I waited until around 2 and called back. I was told he was in his office with the door shut, but she would tell him to call. He still hadn't called until 4 so we called and got ahold of him. He said it was because the room was really dirty and would send us the pictures that were taken. We explained to Matt that the room wasn't "dirty" except for our take out that was stacked on the desk as the trash cans in the room were not large enough to hold the dinner from 7 people and cereal on floor from our twin 18 month olds. We got the pics and were shocked that he told us that we had disrespected his hotel with the mess we left as the pics were again of what we had stated. We left used towels on the floor in the bathroom like you are supposed to. We left takeout stacked in bags and boxes on the desk because the trash cans in room were not adequate and yes some cereal to sweep up. He and the cleaning staff thought this was out of line and charged us 100 for this little bit of clean up after 7 people. I have a large family and we try our best to be courteous to the cleaning staff and have never had an issue in any other hotels and travel quite frequently. We tried to resolve the issue and were told that he would give us half back but didn't feel we deserved it. We said we were planning on staying at his hotel for our return trip but not if we are going to be treated like this. He told my wife frankly, that is fine, if that is how you are going to leave a room we don't need you back. I thought this was a family friendly hotel chain and I have never had any issues at any other hotel or Marriott. We are outraged at how we were treated and how the cleaning fee was just charged to our card without even a phone call to discuss the issue. Below I am attaching the pics of the mess in question. I will agree that it is messier than if two adults stayed, but they agreed to rent the room to two adults and five small children. That means a large takeout order and a little more expected mess, which I believe was not that bad and not warranting a $100 surprise cleaning bill. And especially not the foul treatment and attitude of the hotel manager Matt. We filed a complaint with Marriott and will never return. read more

One of the best places I've ever stayed. My husband got the room last Friday, and I met up with him Tuesday and we stayed until this Friday afternoon (today). Decided that since we are so close to Idaho, we would drive up to Twin Falls and stay there for the weekend. The room in twin falls (Fairfield In and Suites, another Marriott) is not as nice/roomy, and is more expensive. Ariel at the front counter is AWESOME. Don't ever lose her, because she is a gem. Breakfast was good, and I loved that our room had a full kitchen. Will definitely be staying here again. read more

really like this place! I stayed here two separate occasions. the first time we had a huge suite with a full kitchen and everything. it was on the bottom floor of the hotel, there were high ceilings, it was a beautiful room. but, the bed was awful not comfy at all..super disappointed. the room itself was spotless clean and really nice--didn't want to leave. the next visit, we had a somewhat smaller room, but the bed was waaay better and super comfortable! will definitely come back next time we are in Elko. if anything, i would ask to change rooms if the bed is uncomfortable again because now i know that some of the beds are different in certain rooms. the staff were all so great and nice. read more

This hotel is in East Elko, part of a whole new part of town. The rooms are spacious and very clean. Even being next to the elevator on the 4th floor was still quiet. Breakfast is served starting at 4:30am. Turns out that there are a lot of the people that work at the mine that are not able to find permenent housing. They are currently living in the hotel for months at a time. Needless to say the parking lot is full, but the building was quiet in the morning. What did I learn today? It takes 130 tons of dirt to find 1 ounce of gold! read more
