Pubes on shower wall.
Becky M.

Not impressed with this hotel. Room was dirty. Pubes all over the shower wall. The bathroom was clearly not cleaned (tp roll was almost out and not folded). Sheets had a large yellowish brown stain on them. It just felt grimy and not clean at all.

Light from casino in your face all night.

Horrible, horrible and bites. Picked this place because reviews were decent. Rude check in attendant, whatever just wanted to sleep. 12:30 AM turn the lights off and why is it still so bright in the room? Because there are no real curtains! Like having a spotlight on your face all night, terrible sleeping conditions. Of course as soon as the sun rises just a little the room gets even brighter. Second pic was 5 AM. Rooms on casino side, especially 102, 202, 302, 402 will all have this nightmare. Next day have these weird small red itchy bumps in rather straight lines on my legs, turns out they are likely bed bugs bites. (Someone suggested they could instead be flea bites, great, that makes me feel so much better...) Disgusting, this rating is totally off base, stay here at your own risk!!!

Over priced. Wanted $300 bucks a night. Not worth it. Diamond member. Had to stay at Best Western, service was very nice at BW

Great place to stay in Elko. Such friendly staff, hot breakfast, and clean room. Only downside was the pool always ran out of towels.

I stay at a lot of hotels for work, almost every other night. These are the rudest front desk people I have ever encountered.

So on one of the busiest weeks of the year, I was looking for a replacement six-night stay with two beds in a room, breakfast (ideally) and clean, safe environment. I found it and more at TownePlace Suites, thanks to host Douglas who searched me out a room that would work, hunted down my old Marriott membership number, and reserved the space 'til I could cancel my existing reservation and get myself across town. Though the price point initially set me back on my heels, he won me over with his promise of breakfast, dinners (this week special for Cowboy Poetry Gathering), and a functioning Jacuzzi. (What can I say? It's a long drive out here!) Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by James and another staff member who gave me the rundown. I asked if I could bring my own food down for breakfast "since I have food issues" and James walked me over to the breakfast nook to show off the GLUTEN-FREE and DAIRY-FREE options that are there on the regular, from rolls and muffins to soymilk within arm's reach. In my room, I found a kitchenette complete with clean, cool fridge/freezer, a sink, microwave, dishwasher, dishware and utensils and enough pots and pans to cook on the two burner built-in hotplate/electric stove top. There were two clean, nicely made beds, a clean bathroom, table large enough for four people, and two easy chairs, and more. SOLD! Yes, pricier than others. Yes, in Elko you get what you pay for.

Then my wife used the toilet, it had flushing issues too!! These things should be checked as part of the cleaning process. They kindly moved us to a different room with same accommodations, with a better layout. Which we were very pleased taking care of these issues quickly & friendly. We enjoyed the inside swimming pool and hot tub. They also have a pretty nice exercise room. Breakfast is included...

I love their pancake machine and that they have high-end yogurt. This location also had one more hot dish items compared to other holiday Inn express. Unfortunately, they had a hard time keeping items available in the morning. Their breakfast hours were fantastic. It's 5:30 AM to 9:30 AM. If you're interested, they offered free dinner on Tuesday and Wednesday for guests who are staying longer stays. We never took advantage of it. The hotel itself is starting to get old. It was annoying that the smoke detectors were right above where you sleep so the light that flashes every 30 seconds kept waking me up. Typically that's by the entrance or somewhere so it's not distracting at night. It was a little frustrating when I booked my stay months ago that the price quoted was slightly different than what I actually paid. They tacked on a credit card processing fee, which seemed really strange. Do they really want me to show up with a check? All in all I would definitely come back.

Now this ..THIS is what I'm used to at Red Lion (now, Maverick but it'll ALWAYS be Red Lion to me!)…read more I even have a players card that is SO old, the kind folks at the Players Club cage had never even seen the old infamous "Green Card"! Had to update it to the modern version. I've been a long time frequenter of this place throughout the years.. My son lives here, but I come thru often because I live in Sparks, and this was always my go to up until about 3 years ago, that I had such a tragic experience, I abandoned my room for the 2nd night and stayed at Shutters. NOT anymore! You can read my reviews of "Red Lion" if it's still available, and surely you're reading this updated review for Maverick. WHAT a turn around. First off, I was offered a comp weekend because of my experience a few years back. That particular GM wasn't there, but I called to see if they were still honor a comp room for a night, and despite there being a couple years in between my last visit, they still honored that promise. That spoke volumes. My room, was perfect, exactly what I'm used to with this place. Didn't eat at Aspen this time, just some gambling and cocktails. We started off in the back bar, and I can't remember the nice lady's name, but she was on point. WE gambled and drank a bit, then went and gambled a little bit more, and actually won all of our money back, so we decided to sit in the front bar and just pay for drinks so I didn't give the house back the money hahaha Char (pronounced like 'Cher', not Char-Broil hahaha) was our bartender in the front bar. She actually helped us on the floor also before we sat to drink. It was the day after christmas, and their staff was run wire thin, they were covering the floor and bartending, busting their butts. I've never had an issue with service here, ever. It was cold outside, even snowed overnight. Not a single issue with the AC, despite others complaints. Thank you guys again, for honoring your promise from years past. I'm completely satisfied once again, and now I know the calibers back on point, this once again, will be my go-to, and with my new fancy updated players club card! As a local who's getting ready to move to a new state, I decided to stay my last few nights in town…read moreat Maverick Hotel because we had discounted room rates for being locals who gamble at the casino regularly. However, if we didn't have discounted rooms, I'm not sure I would've stayed here. The biggest reason is because they don't have a continental breakfast. I understand that with a coffee shop and a diner in the building they feel like they don't need to maybe? Yet I've stayed at other hotel casinos before and usually if you stay at the hotel they give you a ticket for free breakfast at the casino diners. Maverick does not do that... so be prepared to pay for breakfast in the morning. The other disappointing thing is the outdoor pool. I will forever be partial to hotels that have indoor pools that are open year round. Give me a hot tub, please. Otherwise the rooms are super nice and clean. The showers are hot. The WiFi is free. And our room at least had a working AC and heater unit. I also think it's kind of cool that the rooms have a little balcony that actually opens. The rooms also have a mini fridge and a microwave and a Kcup coffee machine, which are all very nice to have. At the end of the day, we took these rooms because they were so cheap... but the no breakfast really is the biggest bummer.

Our stomachs growled so we both agreed to grab a table for an unplanned breakfast. We hit the jackpot with our waitress Mary, very nice lady. She even surprised us with some unexpected Spanish speaking; I was glad I didn't have to translate for my friend this time. We ordered a $26 Steak-n-eggs plate each which consisted of a portion of hard chewy steak, dry hash browns that felt and tasted like catholic first-communion wafers, 2 eggs and some oddly delicious pancakes (their texture was firmer compared to the conventional, which I enjoyed very much). Mary came to us right after we took our first bite checking if everything was alright. Up to where we were at the moment, we said yes and kept eating. It wasn't until later down the process that we realized we were not enjoying the plate nearly at all. Mary's great service and personality does not match the quality of food served in this restaurant. I really want to go see her again, but I sincerely don't want to eat the food served here. This first sweet and sour experience is now engraved in me, but one experience out of thousands does not define the place, so I suggest you give this place a chance.
