Crusty moldy carpet around the jacuzzi tub
    Savannah R.

I don't think I've ever had a worse stay at hotel in my life. I did not feel safe or comfortable here at all. Don't expect the hot tub, pool, or fitness center to be open when you arrive. They advertise it heavily but their reviews show that they haven't had them available for 5+ months. The hot tub suite is an absolute joke. All the carpet around the tub is stiff and crusty from years of being soaked with water. There are no instructions on how to use the jets - as a result we accidentally turned on the tub while the jets were on, resulting in one jet spraying the corner of the bed full on and one jet spraying the back wall and raining it upon the room. When I told the front desk what happened they said they would send in a maintenance guy to take care of it. When I returned an hour later the water was still everywhere but there were muddy shoe prints on the tub. I guess pointing the jets down was their solution. The cleanliness of this suite was by far the worst part. Broken electrical outlets, staining on the lamp shades, a office chair so broken the thrift store wouldn't take it. This was not a comfortable stay whatsoever. Oh and to top it off the front door didn't work either. Honestly it feels like this place is actively falling apart and they just stopped fixing things.

Yeah she's tired and Yeah they are struggling to get the rooms ready...but we got out rooms. Yeah this Inn is worn rough and hard but it's dog friendly. They have a great grassy area for your pups. Everyone was nice here and the breakfast looked okay. Okay prices.

    Water pouring out from wall

Check in was swift and polite..but honestly that's where it ends. I've always been a rewards member, and have had good experiences. But over the last 3-4 years the chain has gone to crap... I mean the newly remodeled BW in downtown sacramento is now housing for the homeless..this use to be a beautiful property and home away from home.. But, I have stayed at the Elko BW on two occasions, summer and winter. It's dirty, old, run down and the amenities they advertise are false - see photos. The free breakfast, gross - should you put a Brunson burner under the scrambled eggs or is cold the new? The bacon, floating in a bed of cold grease. The coffee wasn't even warm at best.. two of three ice machines, on the bottom floor- out of order of course. If I recall, they were broken last time I was here as well. Pool area, dirty, no towels, jacuzzi wouldn't start, pretty sure those drains should have covers..I will let the "fitness center" photos speak for its self.. Probably should invest in some ice melt, and some mats for the entry's- slick as snail snot..oh and never mind both my keys not working, so I had to hike across the parking lot, leave folks in the snow and 18 degrees to get new keys.. Yep, to many places.. next time Holiday Inn it is..

Disgusting nasty dirty corner of our room next to the bed!

Ok, I go out of my way to be generous and overlook small issues to give good reviews anytime possible, and I have a high tolerance for some stuff, but this hotel is DISGUSTING! If it wasn't so late at night, we might have gone somewhere else, but let me tell you a bit about why you should NEVER come here unless and until this place is completely remodeled. First the bad: When coming through the back entrance into the hotel, I was overcome by the STANK of dried urine! The chairs were brown tinged and had gross spots all over them. See pics! The carpet in our room was very dirty, stained, worn and had sticky pink spots in many places. See pics! It was so bad we actually had to ask for about 15 extra towels just to lay down to create paths to enable us to navigate the room without contaminating our feet! See pics! Whoever designed the bathroom made the door, when it's open, blocks 60% of the tub, so it was very difficult to bathe our young children, who we put right in bed after so they wouldn't rub up on or walk around on this carpet. The sealant on the tub was coning off and discolored too. Also there are very few spare outlets for plugging things in, and some of those outlets were worn out, and the plugs just fell out. SO ANNOYING!! Then there's the toilet seat. It's ok that they weren't soft close, but because of the way the toilet was, it's IMPOSSIBLE to make the seat stay up for a man to pee. Small, but lame. I even tried taking the top of the tank off to create a bit more room, but it wasn't even close to balancing up. Now the good: They do seem to have new paint and new mattresses on the beds, and they seem ok so far, as I am currently sitting on one writing this review. Also the front desk guy was very nice and understanding every time I came down for towels, and even told me to write a review, which I promised I was already going to. Overall, this ties the worst experience we ever had at a hotel before, that one being the Pearl, in San Francisco. Anyway, the point is, if you care about being clean and not being grossed out, DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE!

This is the second time we stayed at the Best western Elko inn. It is convenient place to stay while traveling east. Breakfast is included. They offer oatmeal, eggs and bacon, biscuits and gravy. Hard boiled eggs and fresh fruit is also available. We used reward points for this stay and got the Dhillon suite. It had a kitchen, queen bed in a private room with a tv, a couch and a king sized bed with a tv. The bathroom had a vanity outside the room with the tub and toilet. I decided to establish a scale for rating hotels and motels. I apply the same scale for "luxury" hotels as well as economy motels as I stay in all types depending on where I am traveling and the purpose. After cleanliness there is no particular order. 1. Cleanliness. CLEAN 2. Comfort of bed. GOOD 3. Comfort of pillows. Are there both firm and soft available. GOOD 4. How new is the room decor and fixtures 5. Quality of room. This includes size, temperature, smell, lighting. AMPLE LIGHTS 6. Quality of bathroom. This includes size, lighting, ventilation. GOOD 7. Bathroom amenities. These include magnifying mirror, presentation, quantity and quality of toiletries. Softness of tissue and towels. AVERAGE. NOTHING SPECIAL. 8. Friendliness of staff. THE BREAKFAST STAFF IS SUPER FRIENDLY 9. Noise. Road noise, adjacent room noise, air conditioner noise. LOW NOISE 10. Price. Was it worth the price I paid all things considered? This includes proximity to conferences and activities. YES

These signs are everywhere, but when I checked in I was the only person wearing a mask.
    Margaret I.

Room was adequate, and affordable - as Best Westerns typicality are. It's definitely dated, and could use some sprucing up. Reason for 1 star- There were multiple unmasked people hanging out in the lobby milling about when I checked in. There are signs everywhere telling people masks are required. Even the person who checked me in couldn't be bothered to bring their mask up from under their chin. Get it together Best Western! I specifically booked at BW because they're dog friendly, and I'm part of their rewards program. I booked my room about a month in advance, and called to let them know I'd have two dogs with me. The day before my arrival I filled out the pre-check in info, again informing them I have two dogs. Upon checking in, as I'm being handed my key, I mention my two dogs and am told they didn't know. Luckily it ended not being a problem, but this feels like a lapse in coordination/communication.

    Clean, comfy, spacious.

No table or chairs in the rooms. 2 of 3 ice machines broken. They don't care because they only need you to stay once.

So on one of the busiest weeks of the year, I was looking for a replacement six-night stay with two beds in a room, breakfast (ideally) and clean, safe environment. I found it and more at TownePlace Suites, thanks to host Douglas who searched me out a room that would work, hunted down my old Marriott membership number, and reserved the space 'til I could cancel my existing reservation and get myself across town. Though the price point initially set me back on my heels, he won me over with his promise of breakfast, dinners (this week special for Cowboy Poetry Gathering), and a functioning Jacuzzi. (What can I say? It's a long drive out here!) Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by James and another staff member who gave me the rundown. I asked if I could bring my own food down for breakfast "since I have food issues" and James walked me over to the breakfast nook to show off the GLUTEN-FREE and DAIRY-FREE options that are there on the regular, from rolls and muffins to soymilk within arm's reach. In my room, I found a kitchenette complete with clean, cool fridge/freezer, a sink, microwave, dishwasher, dishware and utensils and enough pots and pans to cook on the two burner built-in hotplate/electric stove top. There were two clean, nicely made beds, a clean bathroom, table large enough for four people, and two easy chairs, and more. SOLD! Yes, pricier than others. Yes, in Elko you get what you pay for.

Their gym was great, 3 treadmills, an elliptical, a bike, dumbbells and bench, also a large area for floor routines. The room was clean but we did find a weird stain on the head of the sheets under the pillows that looked like old blood and that made me uncomfy. I forgot to mention it to the staff before we left (I didn't see it until the morning and neither me nor my husband had a cut that would make it ours) so hopefully they see this. My only other complaint is that their pet policy is vague on expedia, it just says "pets welcome" and doesn't give you anywhere to add a pet when you're booking the room. When we checked in they dropped that it was $70 per dog which is wildly high (most hotels are $25-$50/ea) so I really wasn't pleased about that. Besides those two things it was a good stay when passing through town.

She even surprised us with some unexpected Spanish speaking; I was glad I didn't have to translate for my friend this time. We ordered a $26 Steak-n-eggs plate each which consisted of a portion of hard chewy steak, dry hash browns that felt and tasted like catholic first-communion wafers, 2 eggs and some oddly delicious pancakes (their texture was firmer compared to the conventional, which I enjoyed very much). Mary came to us right after we took our first bite checking if everything was alright. Up to where we were at the moment, we said yes and kept eating. It wasn't until later down the process that we realized we were not enjoying the plate nearly at all. Mary's great service and personality does not match the quality of food served in this restaurant. I really want to go see her again, but I sincerely don't want to eat the food served here.
