From the time I called in to make our reservation (I don't use 3rd party) to the time that we checked in, the owner was very friendly. Our room was extremely clean with a microwave, refrigerator, a table for two should you get take out to bring back. The shower head was great, I have long hair so that's important to me. The parking lot was small but it probably holds most patrons each night. Walking distance to many restaurants. They offer coffee in the office with a small continental breakfast options. Considering what chain hotels charge these days, ridiculous, this was a comfortable option. read more

This motel has been nicely updated and maintained; no odd smells, no weird decor choices. The bed was a little firm for my taste but should work well for anyone who prefers a firmer mattress. As far as the furnishings are concerned, it's one of the better motels I've stayed in. But oh man, the road noise. Fairly quiet overnight, but heavy/loud vehicles driving by starting super early in the morning (like 6 AM). This motel is smack in the middle of downtown so I suppose that's to be expected. But earplugs are an absolute must unless you sleep like a rock. read more

Absolutely a 5-star motel. It is a motel, no bellman or elevators, but 100% worth $79. Very friendly at the desk and the staff. Bed was clean, bedding actually looked pretty new. Room, bathroom, etc were all clean, definitely non-smoking. Air conditioner worked great and there was a ceiling fan. TV on the wall with plenty of channels. Mini fridge and microwave were clean. With the air conditioner on, didn't really hear the street noise except for a couple motorcycles, but nothing that woke me up. Continental breakfast was a little more than I expected. There was the usual cereal, fruit, and oatmeal. But they also had packets of tea, hot cocoa, etc, and sliced lemon loaf, blueberry loaf, and strawberry loaf, plus some mini muffins. Plenty of food to get you going. If I'm up that way again, Esquire Inn is my go-to spot. read more

Owner called to confirm my ETA. Super friendly service from start to finish. Room was sparkling clean. All the essentials covered: iron, microwave, fridge, hair dryer, cable, USB port. We were even provided a portable heater which made it cozy warm. Tiles in the shower were beautiful and add a touch of class. I decided to establish a scale for rating hotels and motels. I apply the same scale for "luxury" hotels as well as economy motels as I stay in all types depending on where I am traveling and the purpose. After cleanliness there is no particular order. 1. Cleanliness. The room was very clean 2. Comfort of bed. Excellent. 3. Comfort of pillows. Are there both firm and soft available. I would have liked a softer pillow. There were 3 on the bed but all were a little firm. 4. How new is the room decor and fixtures. The decor was simple and the furniture was functional. 5. Quality of room. This includes size, temperature, smell, lighting. Lots of light, a good tv and dorm sized fridg. The room was quiet and did not smell. 6. Quality of bathroom. This includes size, lighting, ventilation. It was functional. The motel was probably built in the 50's. 7. Bathroom amenities. These include magnifying mirror, presentation, quantity and quality of toiletries. Softness of tissue and towels. It had the necessities. The towels could have used fabric softener, they were good for exfoliating but too ruff for my taste. 8. Friendliness of staff. Excellent. They were very friendly and helpful. 9. Noise. Road noise, adjacent room noise, air conditioner noise. Quiet as a mouse 10. Price. Was it worth the price I paid all things considered? This includes proximity to conferences and activities. Worth the price! Like many motels in the area the Esquire inn serves mine workers. They have very large trucks making the parking lot a challenge. read more

Stopped by here on my way to SF. Loved this place! Right in the middle of town and easily walkable to almost everything. The rooms were cozy, clean and well-maintained. One star down for the gentleman at the front desk who asked me 3 different times if I was here to party while my 8 year old daughter was with me. Place was clean even though old soap was left in the bathroom. Constant reminders posted everywhere not to get their towels dirty. No pets allowed. Breakfast consists of cereal. I was driving through Nevada and got tired early, so I last-minute was looking for a place to stay. I wanted something reasonably cheap but still clean and with basic amenities (refrigerator, AC, WiFi). This place was perfect!!! The room and bathroom were very clean even though I didn't have a reservation, the man at the front desk was kind and I didn't have to wait at all for anything. I will definitely stay here again if I come back through Elko! The only thing that might bother some people is the street noise was a bit loud in the morning. We are on a 10 day motorcycle ride and stopped at the Esquire Inn to inquire about a room. The owner was on site and from the moment we arrived he was incredibly accommodating. We asked for towels to clean our bikes and he gladly provided them, and the next day after check out we planned to walk to the Folklife Center and he graciously allowed us to park our bikes. Now about the hotel, for the price you cannot beat it. The rooms appear newly remodeled and were comfortable. There was AC and a heater in the bathroom. The linen was clean, as was the rest of the room. I would recommend this motel and gladly stay here again. read more

This place was clean, but the traffic noise was some of the worst I've experienced. Every 2-3 minutes there was some obnoxiously loud motorcycle, car, or truck roaring by. Furthermore, because there is a stop light outside the hotel you get to hear them slam the accelerator when it turns green. I had ear plugs but they did nothing. If I had it to do over again I'd rather sleep in my car at a rest stop. Unfortunate for this motel since they clearly put care into the rooms. read more

I picked this hotel based on Yelp reviews and WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. Bob & Susie are the owner managers. I only met Bob. He was terrific. My husband had pneumonia while we were on our way home to Sparks after a 3500 mile trip. We really needed a CLEAN environment...not air that smells like deodorant and air freshener. So I checked it out before I registered. It was the only room we had on the trip that was really FULL of FRESH AIR. I commented and Bob said ALL rooms are non smoking AND they do NOT use any sprays or chemicals in the air. After the room is cleaned they plug in an electric air cleaner in each room that only removes odor INSTEAD of adding it. The bed was comfortable and SO WERE THE PILLOWS. We carry our own pillows because most hotel pillows are awful. But these were actually awesome. They even had a choice of Little or lots of pulp in the orange juice at breakfast. Thoughtful touch! This place shows real pride of ownership in many ways. I noticed NICE CARS including a late model corvette in the parking lot. So I think the word is out. This place is definitely a cut above the rest, specifically at this price point. read more
