Absolutely Would Not Recommend - Dishonest and Unprofessional I chose Town to Town Movers because they were based out of Worcester and I wanted to support a local business. Big mistake. I initially spoke with Rachel, who seemed organized and knowledgeable. I filled out their form and, to be thorough, took photos of everything-inside and out-that needed to be moved. I even followed up to make sure they had all the info they needed and confirmed it with her again. The day before the move, I rented a U-Haul and moved a number of large and heavy items myself; grill, smoker, plants, garage equipment, reducing their load. On moving day, before anything even started, the movers tried to pressure my husband into buying additional insurance "in case something got damaged." Why would I pay extra for coverage when I hired a company that's supposed to be insured? Clearly a cash grab. Then, they tried to charge extra for my dining table--claiming it wasn't included, even though it was clearly visible in the pictures I sent. Shortly after, I got a call from Laurie (who claimed to be the owner) saying I had too many items and they'd need another truck; at my expense. I refused. I had sent detailed photos, reduced the load myself, and still got hit with this nonsense. The hidden fees and last-minute charges make it clear they rely on nickel-and-diming customers. I had to drive 55 minutes back to my old house to personally supervise because I no longer trusted what was happening. When I got there, another "owner" was present. The movers themselves were polite and handled things carefully except for when they dropped something and damaged the floor. Despite that, I tipped them $100 each. Later, when I brought up the floor damage, I was told by Rachel that the manager claimed it wasn't his responsibility; even though he admitted one of the movers dropped a heavy weight. Three weeks after the move, I reviewed my credit card bill and saw three separate charges totaling $1200+ more than quoted,- including the $400 tip. I emailed them about the overcharges, and the male owner called me with an immediate attitude. I asked him to watch his tone, and instead he raised his voice and became combative...because I said its fraud (yes if you overcharge unknowingly that's fraud- I signed the bill at the end of move and THAT was not the amount) and ranting about my move being "sloppy" because not all my weights were packed. Of course they weren't, anyone who's moved gym equipment knows stuffing containers full of weights is unsafe and unreasonable. I already had four bins of weights. He escalated even further, shouted over me, then put me on speakerphone with a barely audible woman in the background. The whole exchange was unprofessional - all saved on my auto recorded line. It's unfortunate that a company would treat customers this way--especially when I stay communicative, and even go out of my way to lighten the load. Horrific. Chaotic. Badly packed. Complete lack of respect for my belongings. Overpriced. For my move, I had items marked for storage and items marked for the new apartment. Many items that were supposed to go to the apartment went to storage. When the moving team arrived, I had everything staged, marked, and labeled, and the moving team told me it was very well organized. I did multiple walk throughs, and I stayed at the house for the pack day and the loading day to answer questions. On the unloading, some 20 different items and boxes went to storage that were marked for the apartment.(Air conditioners, chairs, bikes, client files for my business, rugs, shelving units, etc.) An entire kitchen cabinet back at the house was full of china they never packed. I was charged for the extra three hours it took for the movers to correct some of those problems. My bedroom was packed without packing paper. Items were broken, clothes that had been neatly hanging in my closet were tossed into boxes, including my daughters' christening gown. Drawers were upended into boxes with fragile items and books thrown in together. My jewelry box was tossed into a laundry hamper, upside down, with all the jewelry still inside. Far worse: the items I had identified to the movers as most precious to me were missing. They included family photos, the American flag that covered my grandmother's casket, among other things. I called immediately. I sent multiple texts and emails. I was ignored. The head of the company finally called me three days later. He was hostile, rude, disinterested in anything I had to say, he lied, and he accused me of lying. ("The lamp was probably broken already, we don't break things.") He told me the move was chaos because I wasn't there (I was-- there in the house, both days) and then he said I was there but kept changing my mind about where things should go (a lie). When I asked what I should do about the missing items -- especially the ones from my bedroom -- he told me to "go to storage and find them" myself. He has no idea where the items are in the storage unit. He was unapologetic, accusatory, aggressive, and completely disinterested in anything I had to say. In order to find the missing items, I will need to hire a moving company to empty the storage unit entirely, find the items, and move them to the apartment. The estimate for the move was $6,700. At the end of the day they charged the credit card $9.124. When I asked for a refund for the hours they charged me to go back and find the items they misplaced or forgot at the house, the owner said, "You didn't even pay for this, it was on your friend's credit card, why would I give you money?" I regret hiring this company more than I have ever regretted hiring any service. read more

Only after agreeing to the quote that they brought to us, we were told we would be charged a $200 "premium weekend fee". Then less than 48 hours before they were supposed to move us, they called telling us they could not do the agreed upon day. There was no attempt to do anything to accommodate their cancellation. I had to rewrite this review because the owner got her facts wrong and my previous review needed editing. Choose another local mover. I've used two other local movers to move in my adult life (I never had to move in childhood or young adulthood as my parents own their home and have always been stable). Both local movers who I have used in the past offered superior customer-focused service and completed the service far below budget (one mover actually did the work 100% pro bono because I rented from a Jewish non-profit at that time, so my standards for movers are extremely high). My partner and I were the victims of a rental house scam. It is on file with the Leominster Police Department. No, we did not buy a house online, as the owner got her facts wrong in my previous review. We are renters. We were able to recover the money from the RENTAL house scam 100% as required by law and contract, as we did not receive the goods and services that we paid for. Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience with this mover. And based on reviews, I would not trust them again with our hard earned money. But they should also get their facts about where their potential customers are moving to, correct. We were trying to move to a rental house, NOT a house that we bought online. Beware! What an experience! First of all the moving estimate I was given was about 1600.00. The total amount due for the move was almost 2,500.00!! We had the owner visit our house prior to moving and he estimated the cost and the amount of goods that would fit into the truck. The moving crew waited for over an hour waiting for another truck because all of our belongings couldn't fit into the 1st truck. A waste of over $259.00. I would say that I was given a low ball estimate so that they would get the job. I seriously thought that this was one of the top movers in the city. Well I found out the hard way... i was wrong. I was told by the office that all items that were shipped by C-bins would be wrapped by the movers. With that said, I did not wrap our framed art myself. Needless to say - several of my picture frames are scratched and ruined. When I called to talk to the owner about this he said he would give me .60 per lb. I asked him if he was going to come and weight them..,he said no, I'll send you a check for $20.00!!! Imagine?? I can't even buy a 1/4 of a single frame for 20.00! I have a minimum of 10 picture frames that are ruined, not to mention some of my mothers china that cannot be replaced and a 3 burner crock pot - crushed! And, I am not done unpacking yet! Check out other movers -- you will be glad you did. The truths in the pictures and absolutely accurate. Several untruths in their comments below. There were at least 10 pictures damaged And didn't upload them all . One of the office workers told me that they were to to be packaged and wrapped by the movers before putting them in a c-bin. So thankful I didn't have to move a very heavy and fragile curio cabinet, especially last minute! I called up and they asked when I wanted it moved. I said how about today and they said OK. The 2 guys they sent were very professional and kind. They made sure every step of the job was done with care and efficiency as to ensure the very large cabinet didn't get a single scratch, chip or crack. They made sure everything was clean as they gathered their equipment and even went above and beyond to help my husband set up the cabinet! When moving my 82" QLED TV, they turned is upside down and stood it in the corner to wrap in a blanket. By the time I stopped them, it was too late. It was broken. Since I did not pay for "extra" insurance, they will not pay to cover it. Why would you over stand a 100+ lb tv on the corner. Oure negligence! You shouldn't have to pay for extra insurance (which does not cover anything already packed in boxes), just to feel confident in your service. read more

So happy to be in a new apartment and got all my stuff with me. I was very ill and stressed from living in a building 'rooming house' where you cannot drink the water, so have to haul it and groceries and laundry up 53 stairs every day, week... My neighbors were 'smoking...' and spraying DDT type chemicals every day, night. My body was full of toxins and my spine, neck was injured. Most of the employees in the building, including office are mentally ill and some of a criminal nature, selling drugs, access to keys to rooms, social security, bank info... Three were extorting monthly loans from me and my food, water from. Many other problems. I got frostbite in the winter due to my neighbor banging on my wall and breaking the heat thermostat. Too many other things to mention. Town to Town movers got me out of that HORRIBLE situation. I am very grateful. The three men (Steve, Bobby and Bill) and the lady in the office are like angels from heaven. Lot of stairs and no complaints. Were fast, professional and very kind, understanding. One of the guys even offered to carry my suitcase down the stairs. The price for the move was lowered! They saved me money at the end of the move! I had to take a taxi because I am a single 61 yr. old lady, disabled and no car. I was late arriving at the new address because the taxi driver got lost 3 times! Town to Town movers went into the new apartment via manager and got all my boxes... moved in by the time I got there. Rule would be an extra charge. But, they did not charge me! So they worked partly for free! I preserve antiques, history for present and future generations. All boxes and other belongings were delivered to the new apartment. Nothing lost. Nothing broken. From the start the crew said they had no afternoon appointments and it was obvious they were stretching out the job. The crew took very good care of a cheap fan by wasting time wrapping it extensively in bubble wrap, but was careless with my valuable dining room table. When I contacted the owner Dave about the green paint (from the door) and scratches on the table, he came out to check and thought it was from us trying to fix it. I'm glad Matt had a good experience, because I certainly did not. I had originally booked for first thing in the morning since I was moving from Worcester to Natick, and wanted everything done early. They told me sure, no problem, until day of. After missing their 8 o'clock time, I called them and was told they'd be to me in no time at all. At 9, called again, was told the same. 10 AM, was told "oh, they decided to go do someone else first, someone should have told you." They finally showed up at 2 PM. Once they get there, I found they hadn't brought the wardrobe boxes they promised they had. And that they'd charged me for. So, they start packing, going as slow as I've ever seen people go. It was a hot day, but when I can move things faster, probably not a good sign. They'd sent over three guys, which I'd thought would speed things up, but one of them hung in the truck and smoked, one was really good, and the third was slow and just talked about how he'd stabbed his wife's lover. Made me feel totally safe! So, all in all, they finally pack up everything, and head over to the place in Natick, and they unpack. Slowly. And broke the butterfly lead on my wooden dining room table. I complained about that, they said to talk to the main office, and made me pay with the lover-stabbing one kinda hovering over me. Way over cost since they took so long, and when i called the main office, I was told to get a refund/discount on the table, I would need to provide before and after pictures of it. Who takes a picture of the underside of a table before moving? I pay people to move me so that things will be done right. Short story, never going back to this place. There are many things that need to be said about this company. Firstly, the moving crew they sent was fantastic. The guys were polite, efficient, careful and very professional. They showed up on time and worked hard. Sadly, that is all the good I have to say about this company. I called them and was quoted a price for the service of a three man crew, truck and fuel charge. I agreed to this and contracted with them for the move. Half way through the move a few more guys showed up. I wasn't asked about them or informed about them in any way. They helped for a few hours and then disappeared. The move was completed and everyone went their separate ways. The next business day I get an email letting me know that my credit card has been charged for the service and that they are charging me over 500 more for the extra guys that they sent and the extra time those guys worked. I was never asked if I wanted extra guys, I was never told I would be charged over 500 bucks for those extra guys, I wasn't informed when they left or why they were there in the first place. I wasn't given a change to say or do anything because my charge card was billed before I was even informed about the charge. Emails back and forth of course yielded no change and nothing but unfelt apologies that I felt bad about how things were handled. I would never contract with them again, nor will I suggest them to anyone else. I had planned on giving my real estate agent their info but after this extra charge business, I won't be doing that. While long reviews can be painful, it is well deserved for Rachel, Connor, and Angel who were literally life savers. I recently put out a work request on yelp for movers. I have moved countless times in my life but decided that this time I was going to save my mental health and hire movers. I spoke with a company in RI where I was living and had schedule services for 830am. When 9am came and no trucks showed up I got a call that "something came up" and I was basically SOL and told they could maybe come at 230. In totally panic, I reached out to Rachel at Town to Town Movers because she had also helped me when I purchased appliances from Woo Town Appliances and I had such a great experience, I assumed it would be no difference. 1493739293/10 would recommend. Absolutely, hands down the best move of my life! These guys were champions. They we early, thoughtful about the many antiques I own, and worked nonstop for 8 hours. It was especially nice that they were very professional but still friendly and personable. They had to do two stops and they packed the truck expertly. The only thing that had any damage was a lampshade I moved in my own car (next time I will trust them more than myself). Dave, the owner came out and provided an estimate. He expressed Town to Town was a family company who took pride in their work and took care of their clients by respecting homes and property. The three movers who showed up exhibited zero respect for the property I was moving from and zero respect for my brand new home.: The movers arrived and put down nothing on the carpeting or asked if they should. Instead, they walked through my home with mud covered work boots and stained the carpeting throughout my home. They damaged 2 pieces of furniture, leaving hardware pieces from of an armoire behind, only to be discovered later on. They put a hole in a wall in my new home and they damaged brand new wood trim in the new home. All of the damaged caused was discovered by myself and my wife after-the-fact: not one member of the crew pointed out the damaged they caused, when they caused it. It is my belief they hoped we would not discover it. I also watched as 3 guys disassesmbled 1 twin bed (actually 2 watched while1 worked) and I wondered why I was paying fora crew of 3. When they finally completed the job, I had to pick up after them. They left behind half-drank coffees and trash in the house I moved from and they had the audacity to ask if we had anything to drink in my new home. DO Not Use this company.They didn't pack my truck properly and I had several broken pieces! They then said they wouldn't assume responsibility because it wasn't their truck even though they had assured me that they pack for the U-pack truck that I had. The actual packing took more than double the time I was quoted as they said they had to ensure it was properly packed.Do NOt use this company. As to the comments from the owner below not true. Was assured that there would not be an issue. Also during phone call after move was told that they did not have to disclose that they weren't responsible if their vehicle was used. I could not have been happier with my experience. Rob, Manny and DJ arrived 15 minutes early and got right to work. We had a 20 foot storage unit filled to the brim. I do not recommend this company to anyone - If there was a lower score, I would give them a lower score. My husband called them and set up a moving date - the day of the move , three guys showed up to assess the all my furniture - ten minutes later . Dave the owner came to assess as well - after conversing with my husband , he told us that he did not think we had so much furniture but my husband had already told them on the phone that we were moving the whole apartment - bed rooms, living rum dining room appliances etc... he told me that my bed was too big - my bureaus were too big - the couch was too big and he wanted more money from what he quoted us on . I asked him - "who does not have a queen bed and a sectional these days? the sectional was in two pieces abut he still did not want to do the job ' he told me that I was "to give him two thousand dollars before he even did the job" plus the deposit of two hundred dollars . That was very unprofessional of him - my husband had told him we had to move out that day so that sounded like black mail to me - either you give me the two thousand dollars or you are not moving with us. any way - I told him I would give him the money but not unless they finish the job then he says I need to run your credit or he walks - I said good buy and good riddance not only did he ask for the money before he completed the job but he wanted to run my credit . can you imagine- this is the most unprofessional company that I have dealt with and Dave the owner takes advantage of people when he senses an urgent situation. do not let him do what he did to us- if you ever want to use this company - I would recommend that you call him to come to the house and assess the job first - and get a written quote from him . Purchased a couch from a friend that was storing it at this companies "warehouse" located in a decrepit old warehouse by the rail-yard in Worcester. Company agreed to move said couch to my home for $100. On moving day they failed to show and never called. When I contacted them they said that they had forgotten and that they really didn't want to move it for that price anyways, they now wanted more money. Moved it myself in 30 minutes including commute time. Terrible customer service, questionable business practices, and deplorable storage facilities. Look elsewhere. read more

I knew yesterday morning when my movers arrived 20 minutes early (my kind of people) that I would be giving them a glowing rating. Eight hours of non-stop hustling furniture and boxes out of my apartment and into my new home, and not a single thing damaged or scratched. This company made our move, by far, the WORST experience. Would not EVER recommend this company to anyone!! As far as I'm concerned, this company doesn't deserve even one rating star! First, let me start off by saying when we agreed to hire Town to Town, no information was sent to us stating or indicating what they require. Nor did they personally come to our residence to give us an accurate quote. Movers (3 guys) showed up on time, came in, looked around, walked outside and were on their cell phone. My husband and I thought this was strange. They came up again, brought some boxes out into the hallway of the building and stacked them up. They brought down our recliner and put it on the lawn. One of the guys came up, took a video of our residence, and again walked out. Then my husband's cell phone rang - was the owner of Town to Town. She said that she didn't feel we were ready to move - and that we still had pictures on the wall. We asked if the guys could just move the big items: beds, couch, bureaus, treadmill, etc. She said she'd have her guy take another video and send to her, and she'd make the final decision. Which he did come and take another video - which I don't think anything would have been visible with the way he was waving the phone/camera around - clearly they had NO interest in moving us. Shortly after this, the guys brought our recliner back in, then promptly left - leaving all the boxes they stacked in the hallway. Then we get the call from the owner that they weren't going to move us. She claimed that the area was "too restrictive" and was an "unsafe environment" for her guys. So, this company set up the scene by stacking boxes in the hallway and "restricting" the area so they didn't have to move us. Then left our residence, leaving our belongings in the hallway. This company really lacks communication, and be careful, you might get a call from the owner if you have "pictures" on the walls... We were able to find another moving company, the same day, and they were awesome - so much for Town to Town being in the business of "our family moving your family". read more

I would not recommend Town to Town. We liked that they are a local, family-owned company, but did not have a positive experience. They stress that they are friendly, and while the two staff people were passable, the son - who was the family representative on our move - was downright cranky, unfriendly, and unpleasant. I learned at the end of the day the reason: he wanted to get to a second move later in the afternoon and our move was taking too long, even though they anticipated that our move would take about 8 hours. The son pressured the staff movers to hurry. And they did. Literally dumping our stuff in our new home without regard to its condition or which room it was supposed to go in. In the process, they managed to break the leg of our dining table, destroy a dresser, break a storage rack, and scratch and dent three pieces of wood furniture. As the move-in progressed, the staff became more rushed, had less regard for our stuff, and were just plain exhausted. No wonder they ran out like they were on fire! Unfortunately, we didn't see the damages until they were already gone. Sloppy, rushed, greedy, unfriendly. one of the worst " professional" companies. everything in storage was damaged , broken or used, my sons motorcycle was driven by some one and was totaled/ a 50" screen tv was damaged/ all the expensive fishing poles worth thousands were damaged, the maple bedroom set was totaled, the maple fireplace was totaled, things were stolen..i am taking this company to court !! read more
