3 trips for wheel alignment. First time in 40 years driving this was an issue. Not happy

Popped in on a busy Friday during a snowstorm to have our tires assessed. Ben and crew looked at our car and found one tire was unsafe. Even though our appointment was a few hours away, Ben was not comfortable with us driving it and coming back, so we stayed. We got a great quality set of tires for a good price, but the guys found severe issues with our tie rods and could not do the badly needed alignment. Stopped at our mechanic on the way home, three tie rods were in unsafe shape. Our mechanic was impressed at the way Ben and crew kept us safe. We had the repairs done, wheels aligned and are back on the road. Car drives like a dream, didn't know how bad it was. Thank you, Ben, for going above and beyond to keep us safe. read more

Order highway tires after they demanded I need highway tires because my rear tires are highway tires. I got out of work early to drop off the truck. When I brought a flat in to Town Fair Tire for repair in March, I was told it couldn't be repaired because my car had run flat tires and they couldn't repair run flats. I purchased a new tire for $293. I also checked on line and learned that run flats can be repaired but it is not recommended so I had no problem with buying the new tire. A few days ago, I got too far to the side of the road, just before my driveway and hit a large rock (coincidentally, the tire that I replaced in March). When I pulled into my driveway, the tire pressure light came on and when I went out to check, I saw the tire deflate completely. Because I couldn't put air into it, I assumed I broke the bead. At Town Fair Tire, I was told the shoulder of the tire was damaged and I would have to replace it, another $294. However when I mentioned something about the tire being a run flat, the person I was dealing with told me I didn't have run flat tires. I checked when I got home and, sure enough, my tires are not run flat tires. I talked to someone at Town Fair and mentioned that I felt I had been sold a tire when a $13.50 repair was all that was needed. He asked what I felt they should do, and I said I should be reimbursed the difference between the price of the tire and the repair cost, less a pro-rated discount for the 7,000 miles I had put on the tire. He kept trying to say that I must have been mistaken, that I was told the tire was run flat and couldn't be repaired. I told him the tire was never run flat and the person I talked with didn't refer specifically to the damaged tire. What I was told was, "Your car has run flat tires and we can't repair run flats." He kept saying that I must have misunderstood. As the tire was never run, even with reduced pressure, it was obvious he was just trying to avoid any responsibility. The problem I have now is one of trust. I guess I will have to look at it as an expensive lesson. Fortunately, we have two other tire companies in Torrington. read more

We were driving to go to the store and our tire just blew out (scariest thing ever) anyway we had to call my Aunt (we had her car) she called a tow truck for us and we went to Town Fair Tire and they put on new tires and did a tire rotation then we went back next week to get the other 2 tires on and I gotta say they were amazing and quick and we got to sit in the waiting area and watch our car get worked on in the garage via TV it was over all a great experience and they saved our car!! Payment was a breeze to because my Aunt is elderly and can't move around that good so they let her pay over the phone with a credit card. THANK YOU TOWN FAIR TIRE!!!! read more

Writing a bad review is not my favorite thing to do. But it really is necessary for this place. For starters, my husband and I were in town and wanted to get some new tires because our car was in desperate need. We did some research and it seemed that Town Fair had the best prices (or so we thought). We spent time researching tires, selected them online, printed out our quote, and brought it in during our scheduled time slot. They did not have the tires we wanted but they gave us a "better" tire for the same price. The tire we did want was the "best" tire according to their website. So the employees should make sure they know what they are talking about... Anyway, the service was fast and the tires work fine. The problem came when they refused to do our free front-wheel alignment because we had a worn-down tie-rod. They would not perform the service until the tie-rod was replaced. So, we went and had that fixed and brought it back. They call us a few minutes after we dropped it off and refused to do service because we had a worn-down tie-rod...on the OTHER side! They claim they told us both sides were worn-down when they really only said AND WROTE DOWN "left side." They took the sheet of paper back, and scribbled in THE RIGHT SIDE!!! They literally lied and then wrote in that they told us about both tie-rods the first time we went in. We know that's a lie. It would not have been an issue if they just told us the first time that both tie-rods needed to be replaced. However, having to pay for two separate services to have the same exact thing fixed is not cool at all. They saved themselves legal trouble in case the right tie-rod happened to snap. Very unprofessional and very disappointing. In addition to this, there has been a constant knocking sound in the car as if a tire is loose. Again, super unprofessional. For $500, I would expect way better service. I was warned by friends and family to go elsewhere for tires but they made it seem so convenient online. Lesson learned! Never will come back here or any Town Fair Tire again! Gave 2 stars because the tires we got do keep the car from sliding in a moderate amount of snow. read more

Made appointment online, arrived and purchased 4 tires,,, was told approx 90 min for install and alignment. After 1 hour car was not moved from parking lot. Requested time for completion,,, was given non answer. Asked if my car was on schedule,, could not answer. Every hour asked what status was for my car,,, vague non answers. Concerned with evasive responses to my polite inquiries. Total of 3 hours for completion. I will fine another dealer for next tire purchase. read more

The absolute best customer service you'll find. Greg at Town Fair took care of a bent rim by first moving it from the front to the back-- no charge-- to stop the slight noise and shimmy, and then by telling me that if i found a rim to match the ones already on the car he'd change it-- also no charge! I'd bought tires from these guys in the past, but that wasn't why they did it. (Because of a recent computer upgrade they couldn't find my older purchase!) Took my car for tires and they broke off my wheel stud and claimed it came in like that when the mark clearly came from an Impact gun claimed it's because the car is old and didnt do anything about it. This is a busy place, so I really appreciate the way I can schedule my service ahead of time to reduce the wait time. I had to replace my tires last year, and was attracted to a sale at Costco. After pricing the set of Michelin tires I wanted, I found out that Costco doesn't do wheel alignments, and that rotating tires was done on a first come-first served basis (no appointments). So, I took my Costco price quote to Town Fair Tire, and they matched the price. I made an appointment for an all-wheel alignment and mounting of the tires a few days later. The service representative provided a report, and took time to explain the service to my car. A year later, I'm still riding in comfort and safety with free life-time twice-a-year tire rotations available to me. Great service with the customer's interest in mind--it doesn't get any better than that. read more

I went to get a job priced and while getting my quote, the salesmen (including the one helping me!) were enjoying laughs and pizza! There were other customers, but apparently Juan was the only one working! They were not able to do my tires because I needed a new rim and they are discontinued. I was there for an hour while they went through all of the paperwork only to be told afterwards that they didn't have the rim in stock!! Shouldn't they check part availability before going through the paperwork process? Especially with a 17 year old car! A little knowledge would have gone a long way! I was told as I left that if I went to some part junk yards and found a rim, that they could put it on. The next place I took my car, found the rim and put it on...go figure! Huge thank you to Spencer and his help in fixing my tire. Went to another tire shop who insisted my tire was going flat due to the pressure sensor. I decided to have Town Fair check it first before spending the money. Spencer assured me they would check all possible options before replacing the part. Sure enough there was a small nail causing the problem. Spencer saved me money and unnecessary work by having the tech take the time to check the tire first. Initially, my experience at this particular store was like diving into a dumpster full of garbage juice on the hottest day of the summer. The ONLY reason I'm writing a five star review is because Ben saved the day. There was some confusion through the appointment agent of what could be done to help my situation, but Hank, the store manager, gave "customer service" that was about the equivalent of a monkey screwing a football... laughably dumbfounding. He was rude, arrogant, and without a trace of help. Ben on the other hand was personable and professional, went the extra mile, and I had to treat him to a S'mores donut from Dunkin. Terrible service. DO NOT make reservations over the Internet. They do not honor their posted hours. Promised tires would be ready for mounting, showed up next day.... no tires. All I received was "oops, please select another tire if you wish to have them installed today". Some employees leave early or have different hours than those advertised. Though not as fast as Toce Brothers, Town Fair isn't a bad option if you have a specific brand of tire in mind, that isn't available elsewhere. Their service was consistent, but definitely slow. I got a flat tire on Route 8 the day before Thanksgiving. We have always bought our tires at Town Fair Tires so I went directly there after AAA put the spare on. They were very busy and I wasn't sure they would be able to fit me in. But, Greg said he would at least look at my tires to see what I would need. Unfortunately I would need all 4 tires replaced. At that point he said they would fit me in. I was forever grateful and appreciative since we were traveling on Thanksgiving. He gave me a price which I ran by my husband on the phone. We went with Toyo tires which has great reviews. We felt it was a very fair price. Greg was professional and helpful. Thank you Town Fair for outstanding service. Service is very slow. I had an Internet appointment for that was not kept and ended up waiting 2 hours without receiving the alignment I had already paid for. I returned the next Monday by 3:30 to get the alignment and waited another 2.5 hours until they got to my car. Very inconsiderate to customer's time. read more

Absolutely terrible. They are only focused on commission they do not care about their customers. Honesty is key. They had put 2 different tires on my vehicle and when I was in need of another tire the third time, the employee reccommended I put a third different kind of tire on my car. He stated, "Well yours are mixed and matched anyways so it does not matter". I told him it is not okay that my car has three different kinds of tires. He in return agreed I should not have 3 different types of tired on my vehicle. So why put in so much effort to try and place a third different kind of tire on my car?
