I made an appointment online to have a tire repaired, something that was under the Town Fair warranty that I bought along with four new tires about a year ago. The warranty is impressive until you end up waiting two hours for what was a minor repair, and you are told when you check in (with an appointment remember) that they will "squeeze you in". Their waiting area is abominable, with a huge puddle of water coming from a pipe and about 8 people closely arranged around you in age old chairs. It was cold and uncomfortable and only made the long wait more irritating. To be clear, when you make an appointment online, there's a disclaimer saying it could be up to an hour before they start work on your car. Scratching your head yet? So, after one hour, I saw my car was right where I parked it an hour previous. Spoke to a nice young man who apologized and said it was next in line 45 minutes later I saw the car had been obviously moved back to its original spot so it was finished, but no one had informed me. I was shaking my head by this point and just wanted to get out of there. A different guy who immediately had the stink eye going on shrugged and offered no apology for the wait, just showed me a tire sensor that had been replaced. When I asked him to explain, he didn't have a model handy to show me what it was, but said we needed to "cash out'. For a warranty repair? He was no fan of mine so he refused to look at me and said labor wasn't included. I never raised my voice but stated the obvious: so I paid for a warranty for my $1,200 purchase and it doesn't include labor? He played dumb so I said that was ridiculous at which point he muttered that he'd cover the labor cost, a whopping $14!! In review, a tire sensor took 2 hours to get to and apparently needed 5 minutes of labor and, after such a delay, I just needed an apology and perhaps say up front. "My bad. I'll throw in the labor cost." As I l left I just said "this place sucks". It really really does. I'd rather go to Goodyear or Firestone who take me right in and perhaps charge me $25 but I'm home within an hour and feel like it was worth my time. read more

EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE! Folks, it's TFT, they are gonna be busy with phones and in-shop customers but they've never made me feel like an inconvenience. Today I had a puncture on my new tires bought in May from TFT. Coope, Byron and the tech team had me in and out in a couple hours if that. Yes, you can buy tires at Walmart or other stores, but I for one encourage you to go see the TFT team in Norwich. They will take care of you and stand behind thier products and services. I had a 4 PM appointment, at 5:30 PM. My car was still sitting where I parked. The manager told me that appointments have a 2 1/2 hour window and that I would have to wait. They do not seem to have any regard for anybody else's time but their own. Also, in hindsight, they overcharged me on the tire at $248 per tire when I could've gotten the tires and battery service at Walmart for $189. read more

THIS IS FOR NORWICH CT STORE ! Not sure why it says San Fancisco Brought in for four wheel alignment and tire balance. Service was performed in a reasonable time. Got the car back and went to leave, was greeted by horrible thumping noise when the wheel was turned. Went to the manager and asked him to take a ride in the parking lot which he did. Told me i had a bad axle. Car had never made this noise before the service performed. He agreed to take a look at it, and then proceeded to spend 20 minutes explaining suspension and how any time you lift a car it can cause these problems, wear parts etc. 20 years doing this and he knows a bad axle when he hears it. Gave up and went to my next appointment which was at Meineke for exhaust work. I asked the mechanic to see if he could diagnose the noise. Took him approximately 1 minute to find the cause. Wheel weights installed in the front as part of the balancing were not the correct profile and were hitting the strut bracket. i called TFT and they did have me come back and corrected it. The original manager with the attitude was not available at the time of the second visit. He is not manager material i can tell you that. I have had good luck with other branches of Town Fair, but this store is horrible. read more

I have used town fair tire a few times over the years, and a few times I have been told by their central office that services provided would be free, and then when I got to the location I was presented with a bill. this morning I called to discuss a failed repair that I already paid for once, after being told I wouldn't be charged. the dishonesty was discounted and the fail was attributed to everything besides the craftsmanship. going forward I will give Monro my tire business, as they take care of everything else now, and Casey, the man behind the counter is amazing! read more

I brought in a small roto-tiller tire today at 8:00am. Just needed a new valve and re-inflated. The technician proceeded to blow up the tire by over inflating it and I witnessed it literally come flying off the machine on their cc tv. They then proceeded to tell me they'd order a new one for the afternoon and replace it. I came back at 3:30 only to find out they still hadn't fixed it yet. I stayed until after 4:30 (they actually close at 4:00) and when they finally bring me the tire, it's not the right kind. Supposedly they are going to try to special order the proper tire but I have zero faith they will come thru. A complete waste of time. Just wanted to say that the Manager Markus at the Norwich Town Fair Tire is outstanding. Took my 2016 Altima there for tires and alignment just before the last snow storm at the end of Feb 2022. The Tech that worked on the Car damaged both hub cabs trying to reinstall. Spoke to Markus the manager about the problem, Markus immediately addressed the issue by replace all for hub caps. Today when I was leaving the house, I noticed a hub cap that had just been replaced had fallen off, I called Town Fair again and spoke to Markus, He immediately told me to swing by so he could address my issue. Plain and simple, this place will screw you over and not even attempt to make an apology or an excuse for it. Was the first customer in this morning, took over 2 and a half hours for an alignment, tire rotation and wheel balance. The real delay came from the fact that they only did 3 out of 4 tires. When I talked it over with the manager he just said "yeah they didn't do this one, let me take it back in..." No excuse, no apologies nothing. Then after I got home I had to inflate the tires to the right pressures myself. So if you get stuck going there watch the video of what's going on in the garage CLOSELY! I've tried a number of different tire shops in the area and I've frequented Town Fair Tire in Norwich a coupla' times. I would be asked to leave a review. and quite frankly there was always some sort of wrinkle in the experience and I shied away... UNTIL --- this Tuesday. It was late, a little after 5 PM. I was driving back from New Haven, heading home. On the entire trip down and now the trip back my front end kept drifting to the left. Felt like a front end alignment for sure... I figured I'd have to burn through a few hours in the morning to get it straightened out over at Town Fair. As I was coming up to their exit I took a shot and called them . This guy who said his name was Angel answered the phone. He told me they were open till 6 and he would take care of me. I took a shot, jumped off the exit and headed over. Angel met me, we walked out to the car and he did an incredibly thorough evaluation of my car. I mean, get down on your knees with a flash lite thorough. And the entire time explaining what he was looking for and what he was seeing. This guy was a real pro that took his job seriously. Needless to say he got me in. PLUS (even tho' the day was almost over) he was able to get the technician to happily take my car and go to it. Angel was welcoming, educational, soft spoken and professional with out being that fake vibe you get from others. He was genuinely a nice guy that cared about his customer (ME) ;-) He introduced me to Jay, the new manager. GHEESH... another genuinely nice guy that was looking out for my best interest. At the END OF THE DAY... people do business with people (who happen to work for companies) and these 2 people made the Town Fair Tire Brand shine. So if you're considering some tire work... You need to go visit Angel and Jay at Town Fair Tire. Really, with people and customer service like this, the other tire in shops in town are in big trouble! I have purchased all my tires there since 1999, for both of my cars. Recently I received a coupon in the mail from a local place where I some work done on one of my cars. They offered me an alignment for $25.00 less than Town Fair. When I called to see if they could match they said " No " I let them know I was a longtime customer and they just said no. I told them I would be going elsewhere where I called Firestone and they gladly matched the coupon. I can see in the future where will be sending my friends and work partners. I called the call center and they made my appointment for the next day so they can order my tires. I asked them on the phone how long it would take to put tires on and do an alignment they told me 90 mins max. I discussed if my appointment was not for 90 mins I will go elsewhere , they assured me it's 90 mins. When I came in to the next day for my appointment I asked again how long he told me 90 mins. They took an hour and 15 mins to take my car in from the parking lot and after two hours my car still didn't have new tires put on. The staff is so very professional and exceedingly polite. The speed of service, the lack of doing the job in an efficient amount of time is what is a problem. Not a Full service shop. They will gladly take your money to "check" your alignment, but if it needs work, they send you on your way. "When you get blah blah fixed, bring it back and we will adjust the alignment." Also, they don't install customer supplied tires. Good luck with this business decision in 2020. Never again. My experiences at Town Fair proved to be a demonstration of the modern adage that low advertised prices are often not what they seem. You can only get what you pay for after all, and large companies like this that undercut local competitors with grand claims of low prices cost consumers in other ways. Because this shop is on my way home and I had an acute need for a set of tires, I looked them up online, checked out their prices, and made an appointment. Their website showed the tires to be in stock and gave a price for the complete job as being a bit lower than the quote from the local tire shop that I normally use. So far, so good. Upon arrival, the employee at the counter informed me that, despite the appointment, there would be a significant wait, perhaps an hour or more. When I asked him why, he gave some explanation that struck me as disingenuous. Not wanting to wait, I agreed to try again the next day. In the short time I was there I witnessed another customer having a dispute with the employee. The snippets that I overheard gave me the impression that he was unhappy about being asked to pay more than he expected to. In retrospect, this was a nice bit of foreshadowing. On the way home I called the local shop, who said that they would do the job the next morning, no appointment necessary, and have me out quickly. When I showed the owner of the local shop the quote from Town Fair, he chuckled, claimed he couldn't match it, and said "good luck" actually getting that price from Town Fair. The local shop installed the tires, for the price that was quoted the day before, and had me out the door quickly. More foreshadowing. Fast forward a few days. Again, for convenience sake, I ordered a set of steel wheels for my wife's car and made an appointment to have a set of previously purchased snow tires installed on them. Their price on the wheels was nice, and they quoted a low price for installation. So far, so good. Upon arrival I was again told to wait, despite the appointment. A pattern? Because I had more time than before, I played along. As before, a customer was questioning the employee, upset that the tires she wanted were not in stock despite previous claims to the contrary, but that more expensive ones were. She was unhappy at being asked to buy the more expensive tires, and also at having to wait despite having an appointment. Hmm. As I perused my bill, I noticed an added charge, not previously disclosed, for resetting or replacing the tire inflation sensor. When I asked the employee he informed me that these need to be reset, replaced, or have their batteries changed when new tires are installed. Seemed reasonable, but by this point I was becoming suspicious about Town Fair's business practices. Because I had time I looked up the inflation monitoring system on that car and learned that it doesn't use sensors attached to the valve stem. Another visit to the employee led to another claim that I found disingenuous, that they charge that even for cars that don't have sensors, for valve stem installation. The price, which seemed reasonable for parts and labor to service a sensor, seemed steep for a valve stem, and the local shop had never presented me with questionable charges. When I pressed him, the employee informed me that they charge this fee to all customers in order to help pay the shop employees. This also struck me as odd, for it wasn't that much money, and it made me wonder why they didn't just include employee pay in the cost of the tires rather than add this additional charge. Did the shop employees get paid more for installing valve stems, which are very inexpensive and take seconds to install, than they did for working on tires that had the sensors, which I imagine are more expensive and take more time to install or service? The sum total of my experiences and the complaints overheard from others customers gave me the impression that their business model relied on low advertised prices to lure people in, with additional charges tacked on for services of questionable value. It was now clear why the local shop owner was so cynical about Town Fair. When I considered the value of my time waiting around and my irritation at dubious charges, explained unconvincingly by an employee who didn't strike me as very knowledgeable, I felt I got a better deal from the local tire shop, with honest pricing, fast service, and questions answered by a knowledgeable owner rather than a shift manager. I Went in to get a front end alinement for My 4X4 , what a mess ! When they were finished The steering wheel was completely up side down and the Truck had a noticeable pull to the right ! worse than when it went in ! They took it in again , after about 20 min it came out the same , the explanation Was that it's the way it had to be ! I had to go to another shop that lined up the front end , straitened the steering wheel just fine I was also shown the mistakes they Made . I ended up wasting half a day there , and Still having to go get it fixed somewhere Else , having to pay twice for the same job ! The WORST customer service I have ever seen. Made an online appointment, got there and they knew nothing of it. Manager says he has never used their website and knows nothing about it. I went in for a set of 4 tires and rims, a nice sale. Everyone there is texting on their phones and not even eager to help anyone. I asked for a specific brand or comparable and the answer was always, no we don't have them, even though the website says in stock. But, my complaint is the over all lack of customer service and skill set when I was set to spend about 2k there. Never again. What a bunch of disorganized clowns. If I could give zero stars, I would! I made an appointment for 12:30 on a Saturday to have 4 trailer tires replaced on 4 loose wheels. Dropped wheels off at 11:30 and was told, " We'll try to get to them sooner, but appointments come first". I say ok and leave to do some other errands. Come back at 1:10, 40 minutes after my "appointment ". I walk in and the wheels are still sitting there in the same spot where I left them. I looked at THE SAME GUY I TALKED TO AT 11:30, and ask "you haven't even started them yet??" . He looks at me like hes never seen me before. I give him my name and he says "oh, we got backed up, we'll get going on them now.". Granted I'm on a time crunch. The tires were for a camper, that was now sitting on jack stands, thats at a camp ground, that was only open till 2 that day, and im 20 minutes away from there. So im visually frustrated , the manager (I'm assuming) comes over and says hes putting 3 guys on it, the tires will be done soon. Then I realized there is a moniter in the lounge area that shows the shop in the back. I can see my wheels in a pile, with what looked like 1 tech dragging his feet doing 1 tire at a time, while another tech stands next to him, having a conversation, with his hands in his pockets. So, no. Not 3 techs scrambling to get these done in a timley fashion. So I was lied to, again! Took another 30 minutes to dismount and mount (not even balance) 4 loose wheels. Iv been in the auto industry for almost 20 years. I even worked in a town fair tire when I first started out. And not once was anybody ever standing around not busting their ass when we had work to do. It was a 20 minute job that took them over 2 hours to do because they "forgot" about my appointment. I had to race back to the campground and just barely made it back in before they closed the gates. So whats the point of having appointments, if you dont keep them??? And more importantly, why didnt a manager step in to help out and get the job done quicker???? I will never, EVER visit another town fair tire as long as I live, and I will bash them to every person I meet. Terrible management, terrible lazy techs, horrible communication. Knowing that I had to embark on the cost of new tires, I had started my pricing process at TFT and a couple of your competitors. End result was Dan Russo was able to beat all of your competitors pricing. Dan took the time to explain the various tires that were options for my vehicle and ultimately put me in a tire that will last and that was priced right. When I arrived at the store, there was no change in what Dan told me over the phone...he was able to get me right in and estimated my wait time around 90 mins to two hours. Dan and his team actually finished putting the tires on along with doing the alignment under the 90 minute that I was told. Tires aren't nessicarily top on my list of things I'd like to by for me or my vehicle, but my ride home was smooth with no buyers remorse. Thank you to Dan and your team. 12/10/20 Had a Alignment done here after work around 5 pm. They took my truck right away no appointment needed. The staff is kind and knowledgeable explained everything clearly. Inside it was clean and warm. The atmosphere was great. They have lots of tires and rims to browse while you wait you can also watch the work being performed from a monitor. I wish I could give them 0 stars, it's not like I got tires. I called ahead and made an appointment. I was on time. About 1.5 hrs after handing over my keys I went inside to see if it was almost ready. So the nice guy went to check for me ( ok, he can have my 1 Star). He came back to say that they were just about to start! I had to go pick up my child from school. I got my keys and left. But not before I was told that the manager is pretty unprofessional and he took in some friends cars before mine. Honestly, it was dead the whole time I was there. When I walked out back to get my car it looked like an employee picnic. I sent an email to the company but I guess they don't give a #*@% either because I never heard from them. After getting flat in the freezing cold and being so annoyed I went to Town Fair Tire in Norwich because I had a warranty from the New London location. After being told there system isn't linked Barris called for me to get all the information so New London could fax it over. After waiting almost an hour and still no fax I called my mom to fax the copy of the paperwork. Barris felt bad so he tried calling New London again and they wouldn't pick up then phone knowing a customer is waiting for a fax. Finally my fax went threw and Barris has fantastic customer service skills he was very helpful. All the guys were very nice to all the people coming in and out while I waited. I brought my car in today for 2 new back tires. I had placed my order and scheduled my appointment online, I also did their price match service, they honored the price I found on TireRack.com. When I got there I was told that I couldn't use the tires I had ordered as I was only replacing 2 and the speed rating didn't match. I was offered slightly different tires that were $2 more than the original. Though they still honored the price match. Overall I was very pleased with my experience.
