Very friendly with quick and efficient service. I did not have to wait an eternity for the problem to be diagnosed.

I decided to take the next car I was going to buy off CL into the mechanic this time. Long story short, the guys here were AMAZING. Larry really took his customer service to the next level and I was extremely comforted knowing I was in good hands. He treated me like his own daughter and I really needed that. He had his master mechanic look over the car for me and they ended up saving me about 5,000 of repairs if I had bought this car (just shy of 9K including the car). Once again the guy off of CL said had "absolutely no problems." And they ended up giving me a ride home:) Best 100 dollars I've spent. Master mechanic was awesome, Daniel was awesome, Larry was awesome. I will definitely be making another visit soon.

I brought my gold 2008 Buick Enclave to Pep Boys Hamden on July 16, 2026 for emissions and a simple oil change. The emissions portion was quick, but I then spent about 4 hours waiting for what should have been a routine oil change. At the end of that long wait, Pep Boys claimed there was an engine oil leak and immediately tried to push me toward paying for a $200+ diagnostic. That did not make sense to me because the vehicle had recently been purchased and checked before purchase with no known engine or transmission issues. Less than 2 weeks after this supposed oil change, the "Change Engine Oil Soon" light came on. My team and I had to buy engine oil and add oil ourselves just to bring the oil level back to where it needed to be. That is shocking after paying for an oil change. The vehicle later began shaking, overheating, and showing warning lights. I took it to Monro for a second opinion, and Monro stated there was no engine oil leak. They also identified transmission-related issues and signs consistent with improper transmission-fluid interference and unauthorized transmission work/tampering. What stood out to me is that Monro did not try to take advantage of the situation. They were transparent, showed us the codes, explained what they saw, and even recommended a proper transmission specialist instead of trying to sell us a transmission job themselves. Based on my experience, Monro was a far better and more honest option. When I returned to Pep Boys, manager Bert's explanations kept changing. His own scanner showed transmission codes, warning lights came on during the drive, the vehicle began shaking again, and he ultimately concluded the car was no longer safe to drive. Even after seeing that himself, he still claimed Pep Boys had done a proper oil change and had nothing to do with the damage. As a woman, this experience made me feel targeted, dismissed, and taken advantage of. Bert's comments about the female technician/manager at another repair shop were misogynistic and offensive, and his treatment of me felt misogynistic too. I felt like Pep Boys believed I could be misled into paying for diagnostics or repairs I did not need. My warning to other women: BEWARE. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! Get a second opinion. Do not let Pep Boys pressure you into paying for diagnostics after they create or "discover" problems that were not there before. A female family member heard what happened and immediately said, "Why would you ever bring your car to Pep Boys? Pep Boys kills cars." Based on my experience, "Pep Boys Kills Cars" feels like an accurate warning. I have video evidence of the diagnostic codes, the Monro technician statements, and the interaction with Pep Boys staff. A formal legal notice is also being sent to Pep Boys demanding preservation of all camera footage, service records, diagnostic records, communications, metadata, and related evidence. I am willing to update this review if Pep Boys does the right thing: pays for the full repairs, refunds the failed oil-change service, reimburses related expenses, and provides a serious corporate response. Until then, my warning is simple: women should beware of Pep Boys Hamden and consider going to Monro or another transparent shop instead. The image shown is by the scanner showing over 20 transmission codes now. They also changed the comments in the receipts upon getting a printout when we came back on 8/1/26.

Extremely unprofessional and unacceptable experience at the Firestone location in Hamden,…read moreConnecticut. The interaction I had with the store manager, Brent (full name not provided), was discourteous, escalatory, and far below the level of professionalism expected from a Firestone representative--especially a store manager. On the day of my appointment, 11/22/25, I called in the morning to advise the store that I would be picking up the tires only and would not be needing installation, as the tires were purchased through my place of employment. I was not told this would be an issue during my call but that I could come at anytime. However, when I arrived, I was told I needed to speak to the manager. After waiting, the manager, Brent, informed me that he did not know whether I was "allowed" to simply pick up the tires due to my organization's contract. This was the first time anyone mentioned such a concern. When I asked how this could be confirmed, or why I was not informed earlier when I called, his tone became noticeably escalated and dismissive. I expressed that I simply wanted a good customer experience, as I could see he was becoming increasingly frustrated in both tone and manner. When I asked if there was someone above him I could speak with, he stated there was not. When I asked if there was a corporate office, he simply told me I could "call them," offering no additional assistance or clarity. My husband was present and witnessed the entire exchange. After Brent continued to escalate the situation, my husband intervened and asked what would be done today, stating he was not going to "go back and forth." Brent then retrieved the tires and threw them outside the establishment, clearly upset and making no effort to de-escalate or maintain basic customer courtesy. As he loaded the tires into my truck, I asked for his full name. He replied only "Brent," refused to provide his last name, and ended the interaction with "Have a good day and holiday," despite his behavior being in stark contradiction to respectful customer service. If Brent represents the standard of leadership in this store, then Firestone is failing its customers.

A few hours later they called to say the tire was damaged beyond repair and we needed a new tire. We said to go ahead and replace the tire. They were to call us when it was ready. Several hours went by. I called and was put on hold "while they checked". After waiting quite a while the call went to voice mail. I was getting very frustrated. We went to Town Fair and found out they had not started to take care of our car. Finally, they took the car in and replaced the tire. When we went to check out, the person at the desk was most apologetic and offered a very nice discount "for our trouble". Mistakes happen, but when the business responds appropriately and in good faith, it makes all the difference in the world. We will continue to use Town Fair Tire and will recommend this location to our friends.

In Milford, CT location manager,Gino help me with my tires at Town fair and convinced me to buy…read morethem there. I'd love my four tires. My car rides so much smoother and I don't feel the bumps like I did when they were bald, they have lots of tread and are good quality for the price. My one big complaint is when my boyfriend brought the car. They were unloading the tires and I was getting close to the end of the day when they worked on my car and I wanted the alignment done. They charged us for the alignment, !!!!!!! but did not do the alignment!!!!!! if my steering wheel wasn't crooked already and stayed that way I might not have noticed, luckily my mechanic Jack took a ride with me and noticed the car was still going to the left and right I took it back to the shop and they said it must've been an oversight that it was not done!!!! but again I was still charged for it. !!!!I am very upset about this so I'm calling the corporate office tomorrow to hopefully get a refund for my alignment. Supervisor Gino said to give a call to the corporate office and it should be a to-get a refund with no problem. I will let you know if I get a refund. Otherwise, I will not be happy and let this be known Buyers , please to check your vehicles for alignment if the form with tires on it do not come through with all green on it there's a problem. I had some areas with the. Tyrod ends they would not want to loosen fear of breaking them. My mechanic hears that a lot, so therefore my tires will not wear even even with rotation so my mechanic will loosens the Tyrod so then them I can come back and get pass the limit to where it's all green on the paper they give you I have 30 days to do this. The machine looks so new It doesn't look like they use it often so buyers be aware make sure your alignment is done indeed and you get the paper to back it up with the tires on it and what is done if there's red on them not all green get it fix the problem so you can pass and your tires will wear even. Again, I would not have known for my mechanic and for my steering wheel already being crooked from a large pothole. It did get straightened and I am driving straight. I just have to get these Tyrod bolts loosened so they can realign the car and I can pass with all green flying colors and I'm going call corporate tomorrow for my refund. It shouldn't be a problem if it is I will be back on here but that's so good of a review, but overall, it was a great experience with my tires. And the alignment for now. Workers scheduling appointments and working there a very polite and helpful and so is the manager Gino.
