I was wandering through Old Town, minding my own business, when this place practically waved me over. The storefront had such charm with festive goodies, inspirational pieces, and Christmas magic everywhere. It honestly felt like walking into a little pocket of home. The value of the products is worth it as the owner has a keen eye for aesthetic and quality. You will not be disappointed in browsing or buying. The experience really made it an more valuable than anything material. If you are in Old Town Warrenton, do yourself a favor and stop in. Trust me, this one is worth the detour.

The best drink in the tasting was their 8 yoa bourbon, very smooth and a little sweet, great for sipping or mixing. The vodka also tasted good in drinks. This was one of the best distillery I have tried. Service was very friendly and knowledgeable. The building is absolutely beautiful inside and if it's nice outside, the scenery behind the distillery is amazing with a creek running right past the back porch. The do offer charcuterie and other snacks to eat here when there are no food trucks. You are also allowed to bring your own food, which is what we did.. I can't wait to go here again when I come back next year.

To be fully transparent, I posted this (same) review on another review site, also…read more It was Monday, the 5th of October, at about 2:00pm. Six of us, three couples from Maryland, had traveled down to spend two days in the Sperryville (Skyline Drive) area, to relax and enjoy each-other's company; we planned to spend a couple hours at The Copper Fox Distillery. It was a beautiful day as we walked in the building, a very dark, dank, empty place. Looking around, we looked out the open back door and saw people sitting outside at tables. In front of a brook, there were perhaps twelve tables, about half of them occupied, and there was an empty four-top in the middle, but no servers around. We moved two chairs (from the far-left of the area) to the table and prepared to sit. A server came out of the building, walked right up to us, grabbed one of the chairs, and said in a very loud voice "why do you think you are entitled to move my chairs around!", taking the chair back to the table it came from, and grabbing the other chair. I said, "look, we came a long way to your place to enjoy ourselves, why can't we sit here"? She said "there is not enough room on that table for your drinks" and I said "no problem, we can deal with it". "No, you can't sit here" she said, "sit there", pointing to a six top way over to the right, out of the sunshine, not really within view of the brook, and went inside. Two of my party said "let's just leave", a couple at the next table was shaking their heads, and I followed her inside. A discussion ensued, where I asked her why we were having such a problem; we came a long way to enjoy her place... and she began raising her voice, yelling at me how she knew what good hospitality was about (???) and much more. I said something I regret. I went outside to retrieve my group and leave, and their first words were "why in the world was she screaming at you"? None of us had ever been treated like this (from the very first moment we arrived) and we were extremely disappointed. Apparently, the customer is not always right, and we were left not understanding how such behavior could be tolerated from an employee, or how such a thing could happen.

The events are fun and everyone is so very friendly. Three workers (one was the owner) came over to us during our tasting to chat with us and see how we were doing on our tasting and they were all so friendly and nice. The tasting room has a nice feel to it even with the soaring ceilings. They have a gas fireplace but sadly it wasn't going today even though it was a bit chilly in the room. Their dogs are sweet and roam around looking for a pet here and there. There is a refrigerator filled with meats and cheeses and some waters and juices for you to purchase. But alas, their wines are just not good. The two whites we tried today lacked any kind of flavor and the reds honestly bordered on vinegar. I could tell right away by the color and the smell of the cab franc that it was off and one sip proved that. I want to like this vineyard because they are so kind and they try so hard but they really need another winemaker.

Their mead is a little lighter than others I've had though they all had rich layered flavor profiles and a nice finish. Issac, one of the owners, helped us and was awesome! He took the time to tell us about each of the meads, their process and a little about how they got started. I really enjoyed everything we tried and bought a few bottles to bring home. What we tried:(descriptions are directly from their tasting notes) *Hopped Strawberry Session This session style is semisweet Hopped with Amarillo and El Dorado hops. Dank hops aroma with a hint of fresh strawberries. Fresh berries and honey on the palate Best enjoyed chilled. *Blackberry Session Fresh blackberry aroma on the nose Clean refreshing blackberry on the palate with a slightly tart finish Best enjoyed chilled. ABV.7% *V(Five Year Anniversary) Black & Blue aged two months in a Portuguese port barrel that aged bourbon rom A Smith Bowman. A full-bodied semi-sweet melomel, with blueberries, black currants, and black pepper. Berries on the nose. Tart up front followed by sweet fruit, rounded out by a hint of black pepper and port. Best enjoyed at room temperature. *Midnight Sun A sweet blood orange melorel. Hopped with Citra and Cascade hops. Hops and citrus on the nose. Bright sweet citrus lead to a slight hoppy bitter finish. Best enjoyed chilled ABV: 12-13% *Helltown Lemonade A semi-sweet capsicumel with lemons and scorpion peppers. Citrus and peppers on the nose. Heavy citrus on the palate that is quickly overtaken by scorpion peppers. ABV: 11% My rating rationale for beer, wine, or spirits: +1 Service +1 Atmosphere/Vibe +1 Taste/Quality (Flavor, aroma, and overall quality of the beverage) +1 Presentation (Glassware, garnishes, and visual appeal of the drinks) +1 Selection/Variety (Range of beer, wine, or spirit options and uniqueness of offerings)

It was a cool, cloudy Saturday when we arrived. We were the only customers when we arrived, which was sort of cool - as we could insure social distancing. There are currently two tables inside - and a bunch of seating outside at picnic tables. It was threatening to rain - so we opted for the table all the way in the back. We entered wearing face masks, ordered, and then went back to a table and removed our masks. The staff person was masked the entire time. Saga offers two flights of Mead - so we tasted everything. I've seen some of the previous reviewers state during their experience that the meads were on the drier side - but at least for us - during our visit - the meads we sampled were on the sweeter side. 2 oz. pours for each sample - 8 meads in all. The inside of the facility is very cozy - lots of gorgeous hardwoods. The mead is actually made elsewhere - far to the South! The lady who was serving us - I believe her name was Annie, told us where the owner makes the mead, but I cannot recall where. Nice place and folks! We enjoyed our visit to Saga Meadery!
