Simple Simon's??…read more They should have named it Basic Simon's because they're selling some basic ass pizza. I paid 16 bones for a large pineapple and ham. What I got was a medium with some pineapples and ham with a thin Vail of cheese. I bet this place use to be in Texas but since they're pizzas had to be bigger by demand. They opted to moving across state line so they could sell their small pathetic pies. They advertise on their box that it's got a Secret Recipe Sauce. What's secret is they don't tell you which canned sauce they use. Famous Custom Crust- what in bloody hell is custom about it? You couldn't even stretch it out enough to make it into large. To be quite frank the girls working there look as miserable as the pizza. Now you might wonder, "Why John must you go about the country thrashing on people's pizzerias'!?" I'd say it's productive criticism to tell somebody their pie sucks. Besides I'm out here looking for the best pizza I can have the pleasure of consuming. And most people don't want to be the best they're okay with average. I say be average! I've eaten the very best and the very worst. From terrific homestyle pizzas and phenomenal slices of heaven near the beach. To the utterly worst, thin square pizza's that can best be described as a mudflap. So hear me now! Your pie sucks! Step up your game lame with your hamburger helper pizza. Your pie is as fake as a lunchable. Anybody can use breadstick dough to make a pizza. Why is the tomato sause so watered down it's got no flavor. Y'all probably pinching and bargainin' for the toppings y'all want the Dollar General pineapple to last. Why is the logo shaped like a polo it should have been a wife-beater logo.

You're not from 'round here, are ya'?…read more We wandered off I-40 to find some sustenance (not wanting to eat at a Dairy Queen or truck stop). We landed in downtown McLean at Lolly's. Upon entering, we were greeted by the cashier/busboy/waiter with, "Ya'll traveling?" We were the only non-locals in this joint. Fun spot to stop just for the local color. Lolly's is also a sort of grocery store, even though a lot of the shelves were bare. They also have a daily lunch buffet--"all you can eat" we were told. (The buffet was only about three feet long but they kept getting phones calls to see what was being served that day---chicken fried steak.) We split a bacon cheese burger (because it was a half pound affair) and some onion rings. Burger was well done but tasty. Everything was clean and service was friendly. Definitely not fancy, but cute and quaint. (One patron came in to buy cinnamon but the shelves were bare. No, worries. The cashier just went to the kitchen and came out with a small to-go cup with a bit of cinnamon in it for her. Gotta love small towns! )

It's located on a street that looks completely deserted, and actually is for the most part. I mean, it looks like an old western movie set or something! It's just a stones throw from old Route 66 which is why I'm assuming most people would be in the neighborhood. It was our stop between The Route 66 Museum in Elk, OK and Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, TX. We were of course the only people in this little joint decorated with 50's nostalgia.... The cuisine is American comfort food as is most along the infamous highway. Here it's offered at insanely low prices. The kiddos were starving and ordered a pizza, 1/2 plain, 1/2 mushroom, a single pancake and some kind of corn nuggets the staff suggested with creamy dipping sauce. Kiddos were totally satisfied, loved the extra cheesy pizza and those fried corn things and had leftover pizza for that night. The guys that worked here were all super sweet. One was even originally from near my hometown! Another reason to stop here beside cheap nosh is a freezer filled with pops, microwaveable meals to go, as well as some toiletries, necessities, and groceries. It's definitely geared to those of us on the go, traveling The Mother Road. *Oh, and there's a gas station around the corner. We were told to fill up there as there's not another one for miles and miles! **A couple of neat things we stumbled upon while in the area are an old fashion abandoned gas station great for photo ops as well as a 10 Commandments sculpture on a corner just in front of the towns church which was pretty ironic being that it was Passover when we were here.

We've been traveling cross-country…read moreand, on that particular day, we were dodging tornado warnings as we travelled from Arkansas to Elk City. We stopped at this restaurant for dinner. Based on the menu (burgers, pizza, and the like) and the restaurant's ambiance, we were expecting fast food. However, our selections were cooked fresh-to-order (which took a bit long to arrive) and were a cut above typical fast food. I ordered a mushroom-and-Swiss burger with all the fixings and deep-fried cheese curls (mostly to find out what they are!), while my husband got a pulled pork sandwich and fries. Both meals were very tasty. We REALLY also wanted some of their creamy frozen custard but we were too full. Not to worry, we got it to go & put it in our RV's mini-freezer. This was truly a special treat for us later on. Excellent Butter Pecan! We didn't have any kids with us but they had adorable car-shaped containers for their kid's meals. We also appreciated the friendly locals who were very friendly with us. Breaking weather warnings were on the screen of the television in the restaurant -- but we had no clue where the affected areas were in relation to where we were in Elk City. They reassured us that we were out of the danger zone for tornadoes but that we might experience high winds. For any Harvest Host RVers out there, 66 ToGo is a participating host. The sites are level and plentiful, and the host was quick to confirm our reservation.

Me and my family had to go there a second time to make sure we weren't dreaming. The service was REALLY good, Family owned and operated. The space on the inside is nice and quiet, perfect for eating in peace or for taking your family. Over all, if I could give this place a 6 star review I would, but unfortunately the app only goes up to 5 stars.
