Best Sushi in town, easily…read more Great variety of sushi, and they have combination platters so it is easy for a family or couple to try multiple things in one sitting. This isn't just a sushi place though, they have the chef from the "Knotty Pine" Chinese place before they got new owners, so they have an excellent array of Chinese food as well, as their chef has been doing it for over 20 years now. They also serve Koren BBQ, along with some traditional food for the picky eaters in the family. Service is always friendly. Been to this location 15+ times and never once had bad service. I will admit not every server has their first language as English, but they understand good customer service and being polite. Please don't let this be a deterrent. Environment is great, located in a very quite area there is no outside noise pollution, and decorations feel very thematically appropriate for an Asian cuisine restaurant. It still isn't extremely well known, so at this time no reservation needed as they often have room for you. Plenty of booths in this location! Price is slightly higher, around 16-25 dollars per order, but this provides you with a lot of high quality food that is almost certain to fill you (this price includes a drink / beer). Comparing the quality of food to city sushi places that charge the same, I would say the price is actually a bargain. Overall review: 9.5/10, highly recommended as one of the most unique and tasty restaurants in Kincardine.

I was visiting family in Collingwood and we decided on this place. It's in a converted older house,…read moreso very cool to start with. The staff was friendly and sat us quickly even though we had no reservations. We ordered soups, salads and different rolls. Coming from Los Angeles where there is good sushi places on what seems like every corner - This place was delicious!!!! I mean, spot on. Fresh fish and just really tasted good. So good in fact we came back the very same week! As we enjoyed our food a couple next to us started complaining because from what I could understand- the chef didn't make the sushi like they did where they came from - I think he said somewhere in the US. He proceeded to explain to the server how it should be made!!! LMAO!! Like 'bro, really?' The chef was kind enough to make him a roll like he imagined it should be...but this guy should be embarrassed- how you gonna come into a restaurant and tell the chef how he or she should make their food??? All the servers and the manager were kind of scrambling to ensure he enjoyed his experience but in the end the guy was just a dummy. I told them to ignore that clown - the servers were kind and attentive. The food was great and if ever go back to Collingwood, I'll be visiting the Hungry Sumo!

It's our first time here at Tian Ya BBQ which is a decent Korean-style AYCE BBQ restaurant in Barrie. We usually go to ones in Markham and/or North York. Their fried spring rolls and scallops (4/5) were delicious with a good crisp on the outside, giving you a crunch with every bite. The spring rolls could use some more filling. The Volcano Roll was enjoyable (3.5/5). We liked how they had fried batter on the outside to elevate the texture of the dish. The cream cheese was a delight. The portions were big. The actual Korean-style BBQ was okay (3/5). The kimchi was a bit salty for us. We were hoping it would have more of the tangy, fermented taste to it as well. We liked that it was crunchy and tasted fresh. Their lettuce was also fresh. They did use iceberg lettuce instead of romaine which was different from what we regularly have at other places. We had pork, beef, beef short ribs and squid for grilling. Both the pork and beef were thinly sliced and tender. The beef short ribs were marinated well. Maybe a bit more sesame oil, garlic and ginger to the marinade mixture would really help bring out the sweetness and the umami of the meat. The cuts were okay; the meats could have been balanced with some fat/marbling to keep them juicy. We were also looking to have some ssamjang (fermented soybean paste) and sesame oil with salt to go with the meat. Overall, an okay place to go for AYCE Korean BBQ in Barrie.
