I found him through TripAdvisor when I was seaching for a private circle tour. We were a group of two, and I wanted something small, custom and personal, over an impersonal group tour. If you are looking for the same, Dan is your man. Booking through the external sites is easy, but I recommend calling Dan and booking through him directly. He is polite and prompt in his service. He has a fleet of three vehicles: two jeeps and a van. We took a tour in one of his Jeeps. We scheduled a pickup at our Waikiki Beach hotel the day before. He picked us up promptly at 7am for our tour on the scheduled day. He was very professional, fun and a great conversationalist. He took us to some very beautiful spots of places with names I have trouble pronouncing. He will point out the spots of simple beauty, but also take you to places you never knew you needed to visit. Every place he goes, he has a story or experience there. He seems to know everyone, which makes your tour very efficient. He also adjusts your tour's pace to you, and you will never feel rushed. Some of the lookouts and beaches were so breathtaking. The Pipeline Beach area is a must. You would think places like that do not exist, but WOW. Even if you are not a surf fan, you will appreciate a stop there. The restaurants he takes you to are great! We stopped at Fumi's and Aoki's and I was impressed by both. The shopping area we went to on the North Shore was nice. Lots of photo ops, and Dan will even show you some filming locations from movies and tv shows. We got lucky and even saw quite a few whales during our tour! Overall, this is probably one of the best private tours I have been on in all my years of traveling. Dan knows his stuff, and we were super happy with our experience. Customer service, excellent. Driving, excellent. Tour stops, excellent. And Dan, excellent. Thank you, Dan!

Also he did a awesome job of staying ahead of other groups so basically at all our stops we where the only ones around. I booked 3 different activities while I staying in Hawaii and The Real Hawaii by far blew the other groups out of the water. I will recommend this tour group for anyone visiting and I have friends coming soon who I recommend to you. Wish you nothing but the best and hope to see you again. If you are planning on going to the north shore book through this guy and save your self the headaches he knows his stuff. Mahalo my friend.

I wanted a personalized tour of Honolulu and the area around it during my first visit to Hawaii. My…read moreinterest was in the history and cultural influences that shaped the community there. Our guide, Luz, provided all that and so much more. I am disabled and my wife requested a vehicle that would be accessible to me and accommodate transporting my manual wheelchair. Luz picked us up at our hotel in a Toyota Sienna Minivan. She obviously had experience dealing with disabled clients not only loading my chair but she also gave me helpful tips for the easiest and safest way for me to enter and exit the vehicle. The sliding entry door on my side had a power window. This turned out to be a nice feature since this was an all day tour. I had the option of rolling down the window to take pictures. An unexpected benefit was that Luz is also a registered nurse. I cannot express in words how much we were impressed with her knowledge of history and her ability to customize our tour on the fly. It was a highlight of our vacation. I highly recommend Tropical Hawaiian Tours.

Plus having "D" (Danny) as our tour guide made it even the best tour ever. He's very knowledgeable and awesome. They gave you enough time to take pix and shop as well as eat along the way. Plus you get a lei and a gift bag full of snacks before your trip. Cold water was available as well. Thanks D for sharing the Hawaii history with us and for making this tour amazing. And made friends along the way. P.S military friendly

Seamus was a very knowledgeable guide - very approachable and fun to hang out with. He knew the trail very well and carefully guided us over the more slippery areas. One should definitely be prepared to get muddy and wet on this tour - I actually felt relieved that it was raining because there are lots of changes in the terrain and sunny/hot weather may have been too much. Seamus will say the trail is okay for children and elderly, but I don't believe it is. Might be a pain. I wanted to get a little rugged this trip, so it was perfect for me. The waterfall at the end was gorgeous - Seamus didn't rush us at all. We were unable to do the beach due to the weather, but Seamus took us around the island and showed us turtle beach, which was lovely because we got to see multiple sea turtles! We stopped at a local woodworker's shop for gifts which was a nice touch - always prefer the mom and pop places to the cheap junk you get in touristy shops. Pickup and drop-off were seamless. Easily one of my highlights this trip and have already recommended to a friend who will be in the area soon. Thanks Seamus!

First, we didn't get to experience the Waimea Falls or swim with the turtles because it rained so much the night before AND of course for the safety of all (mother nature, staff and guests) they had to close access to that area. It was a bummer BUT Seamus and Sandy truly made our day such a BLAST! We could tell that Seamus truly loves his career. We learned and saw so much about the history, culture and people of Hawaii! We look forward to when we can return to Hawaii and book another trip with Seamus and Sandy!!!!! Don't just book a trip with just any company, BOOK a trip with a company that TREATS you just like FAMILY!

While I was training for the HNL Marathon 2010, this path was key to my first (or last) water stop (Moanalua Community Park) while en route to/from Lagoon Drive for a 10-miler. Moanalua Access Path or M.A.P. (my name choice) is situated at the corner of Ala Aolani Street and Moanalua Road, exactly at Exit 2 H-2 West. You may have seen runners, walkers or cyclists use this path while you were sitting in westbound traffic heading up towards Red Hill. You may have even noticed how stuck in traffic you really were as I ran past you on this hot parallel path. Many mornings you'll likely see Army runners from Tripler making their way via this path into Moanalua Valley then up towards Kasier Moanalua, turning around at the top of Red Hill. M.A.P. is about a half mile stretch that guides you between Moanalua Freeway and the Moanalua Stream. It passes a Hawaii Telcom Station then bridges you straight to Jarrett White Road or right towards Moanalua Community Park that houses the Moanalua Dog Park and eventually to Moanalua Gardens. Passing through the length of the Gardens you'd be able to access Fort Shafter. All of these points of interest can be reached on foot. Now, you ready for a walk or run? #Yelp 365: 009/365
