Gritz Family Restaurant - Part of city sampler. Grits Gravy Bacon Ham Sausage patty

I spent the summer in this great town outside of Atlanta. Gritz was the talk of the town. So, of…read morecourse, I wanted to go. I will tell you this. It can get a bit crowded, and that said to me that's where I needed to be. I tried a few times and couldn't get inside. But I finally got in, and I see why people like it so much. It's very family friendly, as I had my niece with me. Plus, overall, the waitress was very nice, and the service was fast. Now what a surprise, a special sausage was on the menu. It's hard to find what I call red rose sausages, and cooked with a little burnt, the way I like them. Well, they are here! Of course, I ordered the grits, and there were no lumps. Those are the best kind of grits. We ordered a breakfast sandwich. It's been a while since I had one. We shared that, and it brought back memories. We actually closed down the place. As you can see in the pictures, it got empty. But when you find a great, delicious breakfast with red rose sausages that remind you of home, you'll sit there, enjoying the food and forgetting about the time.

I like to try new restaurants so headed down to Griffin and decided to give this place a shot. It was crowded, but we were able to be seated rather quickly. Our server was attentive and very nice. She did a good job explaining the different items and any specials that they had.. we opted for cheeseburger or breakfast plate, and I swapped out the bacon for fried chicken breast. Also got the lunch plate with mac & cheese and fried okra.. the fried chicken breast was absolutely delicious and so was the okra. I wasn't a huge fan of the pancake, but I got the plain one.

Clearly this Whataburger is newly opened. When I parked to go in I was one of two customers inside…read morethe restaurant. Maybe two cars in the drive thru. There was tons of staff inside. It took three of them to take one order for one person. Nobody knew what they were doing. I paid almost $14 for a jalapeño cheeseburger large sized meal. They gave me my order number to place on my table and a large cup for my drink. It took them almost 15 minutes to get me my food and I had to walk up front to ask about it. Bear in mind there was only one other person in there in front of me. When I got my food, my hamburger was cold and my fries were not far behind that. I should've gone back and asked for a new hamburger, but I was so disgusted by the ignorance and lack of training of the staff that I just wanted to eat something and leave the restaurant. The restaurant itself was very very clean and as I said before, obviously very new. I stopped at the bathroom before I left. But for a new building and a bathroom that looked clean, the whole bathroom smelled like urine. I also have to say they added pickles to a hamburger that wasn't supposed to have pickles and I had to take them off before I ate my cold hamburger. I have eaten that several other Whataburger in different towns and had a good experience. This Whataburger in Griffin, Georgia, clearly has bad training and bad management and it is just opened. I will never be back to this Whataburger again. I had to repeat four times what I did not want on my hamburger. And that's with three of them standing there helping each other. Avoid this location of Whataburger at all costs.

If you want to eat here then take these into consideration…read more Dinning in could be a 50/50 experience. You could either have a wonderful waiter/ waitress serve you. Checking up on you at least 2-3 times during the meal asking how we're doing and keeping the re-fills coming. While on the other hand you could have a waiter/ waitress barely doing the bare minimum. Never checking up on you after the food is brought and never doing refills. I would understand not being able to get to our table if the establishment was busy but during this circumstance on this one occasion there were only at best only 4 tables at the time with customers. Now that's just out right laziness and awful work ethic. I can also understand hating your job and not wanting to be there but that still doesn't excuse the lack of work ethic. Now ordering food to-go at this place I would never recommend anyone doing. I've done it multiple times and every time they've been inconsistent. Whether it be missing the gravy to my country fried steak or completely forgetting the pancakes in the literal pancake meal. They're also absolutely awful at cooking the food to order for pick up. I try to give them the benefit of the doubt and give them a longer grace period for when I pick up for the food but that still isn't enough. I end up waiting for another 30-40 minutes on top of waiting the 20 minute wait time that they give you. And again I try to give them the benefit of the doubt. "Maybe they're busy or low on staff" but it's not even close to that. If anything they were over staffed and barely had any customers for the time. With how inconsistent they are it would be faster if you went to the grocery store yourself to buy the ingredients and go home to prepare the food. Least favorite ihop location. As for the staff I know there are at least a couple of great workers there but for the ones that don't give a shit for their jobs. Lock in and do the bare minimum. You chosed to apply and work there so do your damn job.

Our waitress Nikki, I hope I spelled it right was very attentive and professional. I ordered the ultimate as I always do and it was great. The wife had Nashville hot tenders and a waffle. It was really good also. They had the temperature of the restaurant on par. It was cold outside and nice and warm inside. Our experience was a good way to wrap up breakfast for the year. Will be back as soon as we can.
