I've been a client here since October 2023 and am so thankful I ran into Yani and Joy randomly outside their shop when I was walking around! I've had terrible with stylists who claim to be experts in Black natural hair care, so I've avoided salons for the past 6 years. My hair was in bad shape though, after letting my niece bleach, lots of manipulation, and a lack of care on my end after bouts of depression. I have 4c kinkly curly hair and have been natural for almost 15 years, so I've been through it with my hair. My stylist Yani was very thorough in discussing treatment options, prices, and most importantly to me, talking through what a pathway to healthy hair could look like. Coming here really feels like being in a spa. I get head messages, natural products, and thoughtful and gentle care. I always have a good time too because Joy (the owner) is fun and we're always joking and listening to music. It's a salon experience I've dreamed of but didn't think possible. Issa vibe!!! I'm sad to say the atmosphere and the people great but I came in with hopes to have my hair looking decent but I was helped by someone who wasn't quite there with my texture hair I feel like what I paid for was not worth what I got. I'm left to come home and still do work on my hair more then I should and I'm so bad at speaking up I just walked out like everything was cool and I was satisfied. I've been going here and having my hair done by Joy for a year now. The customer service is amazing. She is one of the friendliest, most kind people I've met. The best vibes and a bomb playlist. The booking was very easy to do through vagaro! Plenty of appointments that work well for my schedule. There's ample parking in the lot next door and metered parking on the street. Joy takes such great care of my hair. It's grown so much and is way healthier than before I started going. She's very attentive and pays close attention to detail. She always makes sure I am more than satisfied with my style. Even when I go in not knowing how to communicate what I want, it's like joy can read my mind and gives me exactly what I need! I've been a client of Joy for nearly 10 years now and I don't know how I'd live without her! If you're like me and addicted to my extensions than do yourself a favor and make an appt with Joy. I'm pretty sure it would be difficult to find someone with more extension experience and knowledge than Joy. She is the Extension Whisperer, no joke. She has a lot of long time regulars like myself who know she's the best. I've followed her to multiple locations and I'd continue to follow her to anywhere she may go next. Yani's hands are Touch'd by God okay?! Yani has been doing my sew-ins since college but recently I came to her for a sew in after having my hair in braids (she emphasized the importance of giving your hair a break in between styles but that she'd do her best to ensure my hair was taken care of), she put a treatment in and trimmed me before installing the most beautiful sew in. I came back to her a month and a half or so later for her to re-tighten the sew in. Fast forward to yesterday where she uninstalled my weave and gave me another treatment, my hair had grown 4 inches!!! It is so long and healthy and I've never known sew-ins to be the best protective style in terms of growth but thanks to her treatments, her braiding style, her products that I would spray between my tracks, my hair is flourishing!!! Our goal is to get my hair down to my ass, something I never thought I'd be able to do with my natural hair. But with Yani I believe anything is possible, whatever your hair dream is, she's your girl!!! read more

Sigh. Where to even begin? The whole ordeal was anxiety inducing and has me looking elsewhere to get my hair "touch'd" somewhere else. TL;DR: Avoid if you hate expensive, lackluster shampoos; being filmed by multiple people without your consent; having to correct your own hairstyle and shoddy customer service. 1. Appointment Setting: Contacted the business through IG (do businesses have a proper phone where you can talk to someone?) and asked if they could do a crochet style I had been looking for. Asked for individuals on the perimeter and sent a link to the hair I wanted to use. Handmade crochet bundled hair. All replies were yes. Great. Was informed of extra charges for individuals and hair washing and I booked my appt. 50% deposit (understandable because I'm new, not any less annoying) and we're set. 2. Arrival and parking: Oh great it's full and it's a pay lot. Finally find a spot, pay and make my way except...I can't find the place. I'm frantically searching the salon's IG page, looking for a phone number (go back to point one), anything to help pinpoint a location because now I'm late. Finally find it, tucked away in a corner upstairs. Stress level is high. Whew. 3. The shampoo: You know when you're waiting for the stylist to hit that one itchy spot during your shampoo and you just melt? Nope never happened. Most lackluster shampoo I've ever had. My hair got washed ONCE and conditioned. 4. The Style: Oh boy, here's where it gets dicey. So we start styling and Evelyn starts braiding this crochet hair alllllll the way down to the tip of the curl! I had to say oh, yeah no don't braid that all the way down like that. It's supposed to be super curly throughout. That should have been my first clue...we correct and I see the first few braids and I'm like...this does not look right. I ask and she assures me "it's gonna look cute." We almost finish the perimeter and I realize she's taken 3-4 strands of my handmade, pre-twisted crochet hair and started using it like kankelon braiding hair. Essentially making the perimeter braids MUCH shorter than the hair to be crocheted in the middle. I object. Evelyn begins to swear. Owner Joy comes over and tries to placate me but I'm like, this is completely wrong. Like comically wrong. And then Joy proceeds to try and make me feel guilty for not being happy with the progress. I ask for them to be removed. I was not walking out looking like that. The Aftermath: Style is corrected and finished. I pay. I just want outta there. Joy has the gall to ask for a pic. You've got to be kidding me? Joy and another stylist took pics and videos of my whole crochet process, blow dry to braid down, without my consent. In 2023 can we please just get our hair done without being filmed and photographed and plastered all over social media? Few days later I review the receipt. There's a discrepancy. I see a $50 shampoo (in the year of our Lord, we're charging $50 to wash HAIR?), the balance after my deposit and another $50. Message Joy. I didn't get the individuals, so what is this? After a lot of back and forth, she says it's for the "thickness/fullness of the crochet braids." I didn't even use all five bundles of hair! I used four and few strands. So $50 charge for fullness/thickness of crochet and $50 for shampoo? It's been just under three weeks and my braid down is super loose. Will definitely not last past a few at home shampoos. Maybe they're good for other styles but after the vibe and experience, I won't be back. read more
