AMAZING! I just moved to LA from Oregon. My natural hair (I'm mixed half white/black) was very dry and brittle. After my first visit with Rae my hair was very hydrated, shinny, and felt so healthy! My first visit I got a chemical relaxer with a deep conditioning. She also uses a steamer to really hydrate your hair. During my second visit she installed micro bead extensions- they turned out absolutely amazing my hair flows and looks so healthy I've gotten lots of compliments. To start, LOVED how she took car of my hair and did it. Con: my appointment was at 12 and I had to run out at 2:55 to get to work. I usually schedule appointments when I have a lot of free time simply because I always need TLC when making a salon visit, but I wasn't really thinking. I had just gotten a deep condition, blowout, and flat iron on natural 4b-ISH hair. No time for trim. My hair felt light and it still looked good weeks later (my hair is a little trained to stay straight for long periods of time due to wrapping it all the time). This chick is AWESOME! I have very long, super frizzy, dry curly hair (imagine unruly Dianna Ross hair running wild on an island for a month). I've come to Rae twice and each time is magical. I end up with bone-straight silky hair! She just uses a hot comb and straight iron, but it lasts for 2 WEEKS! Even with showering and damp rainy/snowy weather in NY. I obviously had to wear a shower cap/use an umbrella, but sometimes any humidity in the air will mess things up. Rae's straightening is the best! It is a bit pricey, and takes about 2 hours, but... it's a sacrifice to have beautiful hair! She also squeezes me in last-minute, which I appreciate. And I think you get 60 or 90 min parking validation, so there's that too. :-) read more

I went to see Rae in a moment of desperation. After allowing my hair to become unruly from a terrible quick weave, I needed someone who would be able to remove the damaging glue from my hair, detangle all the knots, fix the terrible bleach job that I gave myself, and also make sure that I left looking beautiful. Not an easy task for some, but Rae handled it with ease. I was kind of embarrassed to show anyone my hair because of the condition that it was in, and she reminded me that I was at the salon to get help and help me she did! I'm giving this review because someone on Yelp just saw my review for ILL, and I was so disappointed with them. They wanted to know if i had found anyone who does natural hair. So I found Rae on Yelp and went to her a few years ago. Of course we're all hesitant about who puts heat on our natural hair because heat damage is the worst. And I love my curls and wear them most of the time. I needed straight hair for a couple weeks, and I needed my curls to bounce back in good condition. Rae did an amazing job on my 4a4b hair, and it was straight and smooth. It lasted for the 2 weeks I needed and my curls bounced back! It is SO HARD to find a stylist who won't ruin all your hard work of maintaining healthy natural hair, and Rae is a star. She really cares about natural hair and keeping it healthy. Oh my goodness, just an awesome experience! I've never gotten a weave before and had actually gone to another salon and had it installed the day before. It just wasn't right, I wasn't happy with the way it looked. I didn't know but I knew it wasn't the best it could be. I called around and was able to get an appt with Rae Lynn the next day for what I thought was just a fix. After talking to her and explaining what I wanted to which she patiently answered my questions and explained what could be done I told her "You know what? How about we just take it completely out and have you just redo it? She was so wonderful! She washed the hair, she cut it and installed it in a way that would be easiest for me to go about my day to day (I workout daily and teach Spinning) It looks amazing. I left feeling (and looking) a thousand times better! Very professional and friendly, and the salon space is really nice! I would recommend her to everybody and anybody. Apparently you have to not only check in, but give a 5 star review for 15% off... Even though I was a first time client and it's advertised that I get 15% off for that anyway ... Since she would not honor that and responded with a "I need to update my website" I'm on here giving an ill deserved 5 star. She is nice enough just not the stylist nor the salon for me. I left not liking my hair very much and with very retroactive advice from the stylist- like "we should have done this or the hair isn't that great or I don't like that color" both would have been good to say BEFORE installation since I was paying for a licensed technician- someone who is supposed to be knowledgeable in hair and styling it. She asked if I wanted the lace cut off my wig or folded under for sewing the install... Why are you asking me this? Aren't you supposed to know? As far as I know you are supposed to cut the lace off of a lace wig, but I've never had one sewn on so we will see how this works. Also didn't like the dated braid pattern that was used nor te fact that she was unable to do an invisible stitch technique...All in all it was just less than OK. Next time I'll go to a well known salon with a higher end clientele. I don't mind spending money but it needs to be worth it. I got home and had to fix the hair to my liking. I'm having Anthony Pazos fix it permanently sometime in the next two weeks. He is a joy and always has a good attitude about making the client happy- so my advice... Stick to something tried and true :-). My experience toward the end at Oh My Hair or being styled by Rae was overall a bust. read more
