Totem Cafe is a neat restaurant with some great decor ranging from cowboy art to metal sculptures, old phones, etc. It is located right on the main road, right near the turn to go to Alabama Hills and Mt. Whitney. The crossroad is Whitney portal road. We parked on the street, but I am guessing there is some parking around back too. The restaurant was rustic, clean, classic rock playing on the radio, and there are bathrooms. Service was fast and friendly. They had lunch and breakfast options. Breakfast prices are about what you would expect for a small restaurant in a small town. Plenty of good options to choose from. I was contemplating the pancakes and the French toast. I tried the 2 piece French toast and it came with some cantaloupe. It was warm, fluffy, and tasty. It came with plenty of butter packets and large syrup container. It hit the spot for sure. I think it was about $12.

Amazing salsa, spicy and flavorful. Breakfast burrito

I cant believe how good this place is. The food is amazing. They recommended the breakfast burrito everything seasoned well, potatoes cooked to perfection toasty. Thank you for the high quality food and good service. My new favorite spot. You will not be disappointed

Onion rings and hamburger

Way too long to get any type of service. Parties sat down and left because no one came by to take their orders after sitting them. Didn't check up on us at all. Asked for burger to be plain but still came with everything. Onion Rings were good. I'd skip this place and try something else in town.

We had a group gathering in the back room during the morning hours. The waitress came by to check on some of our friends to see who wanted to order food as some were hear to just chat and not eat. The area was spacious for our 20 person event. We ordered the omelet, house potatoes with sourdough bread and it was really good for the price.

When I saw Totem Cafe listed on Yelp, I was instantly drawn to it. Could this local spot be symbolic to our trip? I wanted to try it and glad I did. I really enjoyed my tasty breakfast mainly due to the great service from the lone waitress. She was very attentive and friendly. The dining area has a nice laidback atmosphere. It's also clean and spacious which is always good. Definitely give this cafe a try if you're in Lone Pine, CA.

Salmon with baked potato

Came here for dinner with two friends after a long day outside. The waitress was friendly and there were plenty of empty tables around 7:30 pm on a Friday night. We were seated right away. I ordered the grilled salmon with baked potato, one of my friends ordered the salmon with French fries, and our other friend ordered the tuna salad. The food was fine and decent. The menu can be somewhat limited if you have dietary restrictions in your party. Overall, our food was fine, but it didn't stand out enough to seek out this restaurant next time we're in town.

Breakfast burrito is the best I've had. No joke

I got the breakfast burrito and it was probably the best breakfast burrito I've ever had and I've had many at many places. Hats off to Totem cafe for great breakfast food!

I Stepped back in time, at this rusty Wild-West Café to enjoy an amazing ribeye steak, Just like John Wayne might've had back in the days when he was shooting Western Movie in Lone Pine California Area. I took this Color Dark Tones shot that captures the Rustic atmosphere at the Totem Café.

Super yummy spot to stop in for breakfast. Got seated right away on a Saturday morning. We got the pancake combo and eggs with potatoes and a side of bacon. The bacon and pancakes were the star of the show. The only thing we'd do different is get the potatoes extra crispy.

Good food, good service. What else do you need on your way to Death Valley. I would definitely eat breakfast here again.

The Mt. Whitney Restaurant in Lone Pine, Ca. has quite a few bad reviews, and maybe the service is…read moreshaky sometimes. Our server was young and still learning, but he was trying his best, and you have to remember, everyone has to start somewhere. Lone Pine only has an estimated population of 1,220 to 1,439 people, so there's probably not a whole lot of job applications for them to choose from when hiring. This ain't L.A. Let's get around to what's really important, the food was very good, and the beer was cold. We were told they had Modelo on tap, but it turned out that they were out, so we asked one of the guys working there what he would suggest as a beer without a whole lot of overbearing hops flavor, and he suggested the "Mojave Red" which comes from The Indian Wells Brewery about an hour South down Highway 395, and it was a great recommendation, and a really enjoyable beer. We liked it a lot!! So, look at the picture of the glass of beer I was drinking. It has perfect 'beer lacing' which means the glass is very clean, and is free of oils, grease, lipstick, or soap residue, and to me, clean dishes are just as important as good service, and that's why I give them 5 stars.

$124 for 3 for burgers and "dessert"…read more We all had burgers. The onion rings were soggy and soaked in oil. The "chili" on my black rock burger was a thimble of refried beans. The pie was served ice cold and the 10yr old who was waiting on us forgot to warm the pie, forgot I ordered a chocolate sundae, forgot our drink order, forgot we needed utensils to eat and basically didn't know anything he was being asked to do. The whole experience was insane. The decor was dark and dingy and the A/C was barely on. It was hot and muggy inside. Save your money and just go somewhere else. The burgers were ok but I could've gone to a steakhouse and been served by adults for what it cost to eat here.

Mark, (The server) and Phil (the chef) made our first experience so worth the trip. I told Phil that his brisket is so good that he could be arrested for felonious deliciousness. The man who greeted us upon arrival (I believe he was the owner as his there were photos of him and his wife on the wall) was very welcoming; unfortunately, we never saw him again after being seated. To preface the experience we had, It's worth noting that we were the only table in the entire restaurant. The waitress was not very friendly and was extremely unattentive. We had to flag her down for everything from ordering, to getting silverware, to actually checking out. She never once checked in with us to see how our food was or offer us refills on drinks. We also ordered a well drink from the bar and she automatically upcharged us without asking. As a former bartender I am all for upselling, but don't charge a customer for greygoose when they ordered a well vodka. Once we were finished eating we sat there for a good 15 minutes as she was outside on the patio smoking and chatting with her friends. When she did check us out she seemed bothered by us even being there and never once said thank you. The food itself was ok, we had two of their sandwiches with onion rings and fries. Overall though, I can't recommend this spot, which is sad because I love supporting local businesses. Hopefully this was just an off day for them.
